Holding more open public-police talks is a good way to mend tensions with their communities, especially the idea of having more police sponsored events so people feel less intimidated to be around an officer. A police sponsored intercity basketball tournament or a food drive would be a great start. Also I liked the way he told people how to handle complaints about the police without being condescending, he sounds like he has a level head. This is a good sign.
