Hollywood approaches you and says "user we want to start a magic the gathering cinematic universe but we need a plot"

What do you say user? What's your pitch

No

It's about a spiky haired kid who plays the trading card game with other opponents in the BLACKED realm, where the monsters get summoned from the cards for real

You'd never make it in Hollywood kid

Sounds too much like yu gi oh

The obvious way to go is the Weatherlight and it's crew trying to stop the phyrexian invasion with Urza's saga and the brothers war as backstory ala LOTR's intros. It has everything you need for a blockbuster series- a diverse cast of likable characters traveling to unique and exciting places getting into perilous adventures while trying to stop a great, world ending threat. It could be a trilogy or longer, something like 4-6 films doesn't seem out of the question depending on how much they want to work in. That's not counting obvious prequel bait in full expanded storyline of Urza's saga and the brother's war.

Further Sequelbait is everything after Apocalypse but outside of some cool designs like the Myr and the fish people does anyone give a fuck about the storyline? I don't think so. Bottom line is there's plenty there for a massive cinematic universe on par with the size of Marvel, SW, etc.

ariel winter
christina hendricks
haylee artwell
and little girl from logan

karl urban is a recluse warrior, fighting for those that can't. until a new evil force threatens the whole kingdom.

he is found unconscious by hendricks from a battle that seems to defy logic and reason.

as he's recovering a lone magician (winter) and sidekick (girl from logan) are doing their best to protect the kingdom. other magicians have failed.

hendricks tells urban that a rouge magician is using magic to control / destroy from far a away place. she shows him a semi circle dome (inside the dome is a representation of the lands).

the magician is using magic to affect different areas at once. amount of magic consumed is enormous, but hendricks is trying to prepare to fight him/her using the same techniques.

urban with his knowledge of combat advises hendricks and they also tell the queen (artwell) of their plan. since the king has fallen it is up to her.

soon the forces attack. hendricks tells ariel/sidekick what to do. urban plans strategies and artwell decides to lead her army.

things begin to look bleak as we see a back and forth of 'magic' gathering. lands are destroyed, monsters appearing, heroes falling, but urban decides to leave hendricks and advance the charge.

he meets up with artwell and together they fight. he saves ariel/sidekick and discover where the villain is directing the assault. ariel transports urban and he fights his way to the villain's lair.

without magic it's almost an impossible fight, but urban throws himself into a rage (beserker) and defeats the villain.

with the battle over, hendricks begins to heal the lands with the help of ariel and sidekick. artwell amazed at urbans heroic deeds gets smitten by him, but offers him a place in her kingdom.

he refuses saying there are those who still can't fight for themselves and leaves with ariel and sidekick running after him. wanting to be like him (also smitten).

hendricks watches as he leaves.

Just make a buddy film for Jace and Chandra where they do things their way u til they see the merit in the other's and combine powers for LA grand finalie

The brothers war with Urza and Mishra.
Would be breddy gud.

Most productive thread I've seen on tv in a while

>What do you say user? What's your pitch

Zendikar.

Its basically the adventure and treasure hunting realm. You can have a bunch of random shit showing up and threaten the Eldrazi as the big bad. Fucking writes itself.

This brings up a thought, could mtg work as a comedy?

...

>dreamworks
>Joel Schumacher
>n'sync

Fucking kek

Richard Garfield biopic during college in Pennsylvania. Showcasing his personal struggles as well as the development of the game. Peaks at Beta. Spellfire appears after the credits as the villain for the sequel.

Other films in the RPGCCGCU deal with Gary Gygax and how single-player CRPGs can't be role-playing games, Steve Jackson, his dealings with the Secret Service, and his ominous predictions, and a dramatization of how Pathfinder came to be.

>not making a masterful lovecraftian horror/fantasy out of zendikar/eldrazi plane

This, although the brothers war should be intros or prequels like the first post. Their war is the backstory for the main MTG story, they don't have much of a backstory themselves.

We'll make the bad guys all white males

Theres more than enough to make a movie from it. And to introduce general audiences to MtG slowly.
Its got some great world building and build up.
I like the adventures of the weatherlight as well, but it makes more sense to me to do that AFTER you establish the universe, and not the start of it.
Plus I just want my qt3.14 Ashnod and Phyrexia and yotian soldiers.

Jesus I havent even thought about this shit in over a decade.

This is literally the only good post ITT.

Kudos to you,

Do Weatherlight saga to Apocalypse

Phase 1
Weatherlight is meeting the crew, collecting artifacts around the world

Tempest is the Rath plot part 1

Combine Stronghold and Exodus's story for the second part

Phase 2: Side stories

Do a slapdash merger of the Urza block to make a prequel, A Mercadian Masques filler movie, A Nemesis movie that resolves the Tempest storyline while leading into Invasion and expounding further on the phyrexians.
Skip over Prophecy, those events were always irrelevant.

Phase 3: Invasion block trilogy
Epic 3part action extravaganza, results in phyrexia being driven back at the cost of the world.

This is objectively wrong and the Warcraft movie proves it. Pick the best story you have and make that, not the first story. The very concept of the weatherlight gathering it's crew and going to various places is a perfect introduction to the world anyway.

wow really nice post

Two hours of Chandra and Nissa getting raped by orcs and other magical creatures. When can I start?

Jace is a re-occuring character that's just a massive faggot and the entire cast hates him

Played by one of those fuccbois the tumblr crowd loves

The real main characters are Garruk Liliana, Sorin and Ajani

Sounds good, but normies will be confused if there's not a single magic card in the movie. Most people only know magic as a cardgame they played in middle school.

It's about these kids that spin their dreidels against each other grinding back and forth and when they get to mach speed the monsters appear out of the dreidels and fight each other

It is a good story though. Stands up all on its own. And its a story that gradually gets more fantastical as it goes on.

agree, who would you cast?

lol
You're a huge faggot. Stop doing this.
