You'll get very few responses from the children on this board. They are too busy talking about whatever normie cape movie is popular right now.
I doubt half the people here even know who Charlton Heston is.
Oh yea hokey old cinema
Watched the passion yesterday gonna watch history of the world tomorow
Those classic movies can be fun, if you're in the right mood for them. And they did a lot back then with the set designs, if they had the budget.
What if they released this film with that cast today?
Ridley Scott released "Exodus: Gods and Kings" in 2014, with Christian Batman, I mean Bale, as Moses.
Yes. Me and my family are watching it.
i support this shitpost.
>It's pan and scanned to 16:9
Thanks Disney
Anyone else suprised at the audio quality? I can't recall another movie from the 50's that has audio anywhere near this clear.
Prince of Egypt is an undeniably superior film.
...
Easter?
God these set designs are fantastic. This movie must have cost a fortune.
Why won't they celebrate?
Is any film comfier?
>this is what gen z/later millenials actually believe
>omg it has songs so epic
Isn't this kind of weird to play on Easter?
It's got nothing to do with Jesus rising from the dead or anything, and isn't Moses the old testament?
>Moses was a pale white guy with blue eyes
is this canon?
holy shit you can see her nipples
This film is comfy af. I grew up watching this every year on the night before Easter, truly biblical kinography.
Thx for reminding me
>you can clearly see the large pepperoni nips of the lady in the blue dress
How did they get away with this?
>2017
>watching hollywood whitewashing
ugh. no thanks.
>tfw watching this with my parents while doing accounting homework
pretty comfy
This movie is ultimate proof that slavery gets shit done.
GOAT movie
It's usually for Passover.
Fucking jews
Ah, it all makes sense now. I was wondering why Disney would be playing a non degenerate Christian movie. It turns out they are playing it for their own kind.
Have there been any films made in the past decade with great production sets and designs like this?
Mad Max Fury Road comes to mind for me only.
The Jews didn't get killed by the angel of death because of circumcision. Circumcision is an offering of sorts. This is why when God told Abraham not to kill his son, Abraham instead was ordered to circumcise himself, the men in his family, and his male slaves.
The Passover is comparable to Christ's death because in both cases human sins are forgiven by a sacrifice.
I've seen it about 20 times, mostly not by choice.
But when I watched it again last year I was completely blown away by it. What a fantastic film.
>The Jews didn't get killed by the angel of death because of circumcision.
It was the blood of a lamb on the doorway you dumbshit. Symbolizing the sacrifice of Christ later on. Has nothing to do with circumcision you retard.
I didn't appreciate it until I got older either, maybe it's just from cynicism towards the modern film industry but I feel like you never see films like this made to push how powerful film as a medium could become and not merely for profit (though it made a shitload of cash).
I don't think we'll get another Cecille B. DeMille for a long time (although Spielberg for 20 years was close in terms of pushing for cinematic technological advancements).
YOU'LL PRY AWAY THIS KINGDOM FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS RAMSES
Before Al Gore invented the Internet, Sup Forums published its own magazine, Sup Forums guide, for discussion of television & film.
That speech gives me chills every time, it's so powerful.
I forgot there was so much sweet foot action in this movie
Is TV Guide still around at all?
That magazine was comfy as fuck.
MOSES! MOSES!
>Yul Brynners hair
Fucking nice
Fuck, this movie is good. I have no idea why I've ignored it every year until now.
>that set design
>that script
>that acting
>that drama
>that gripping story with no retarded CG action
>Those practical effects
They really don't make them like this anymore.

Now a days, they'd have a long panning shot of nothing but CGI of ancient Eygpt. Moses going down the river would've riddled with talking turtles and crocodiles and radicles show of physics.
God those Ethiopians are hot.
how accurate is it
kek, is this where Coming to America got their inspiration from?
>I do not know what power shapes my way, but my feet are set upon a road that I must follow.
This movie is 100 times more kino than any 150 million dollar movie any modern studio could shit out of their ass.
word for word account.
You guys watching on channel 7 or 8. 8, the local affiliate is ahead an hour.
Why are all the lines in this movie so good?
It was filmed at 1.85:1, almost no cropping needed at 16:9
>this scene
wew lad how do I become a slave?
The average viewer was more intelligent back then.
It was made back when people actually cared about cinema as an art form. Ben-Hur and Lawrence of Arabia are the exact same way.
TCM showing ben-hur tomorrow and king of kings after.
I just remembered there was a Ben-Hur remake made last year
This movie is awesome
Does it never rain in Egypt or something? These aren't even really buildings, everything seems like it's outdoors.
It's called symbolism.
"The ancient apotropaic foundation of the Passover sacrifice is obvious, for it is known that the blood which was put on the door had the power to protect human beings: 'For the Lord will pass through to slay the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to slay you' (Exodus 12:23, cf. 12:13). If so, the reference is to protection against the destroyer who endangered on that night the lives of the Children of Israel.
From this it will be clear why, particularly, the law of Passover emphasizes the prohibition of participation by the uncircumcized (Exodus 12: 48): Circumcision, like the Passover itself, has a pronounced apotropaic significance. The material cited by Loewenstamm testifies to the fact that the Sages recognized the apotropaic meaning of circumcision and mentioned this meaning in speaking of the blood of the Passover sacrifice, where the apotropaic meaning is clear from the language of the Torah itself. Both for the midrashim and from the targumim it is clear that the Sages still sensed the closeness between the functions of the blood in these two ceremonies: that of the Passover sacrifice and that of circumcision. In connection with circumcision we may further cite the Targum to Canticles 3:8 where the words 'each with his sword at his thigh, against alarms by night' are explained as follows: 'And each one of them has the seal of circumcision on his flesh, as it was sealed on the flesh of their father Abraham and are protected by it as a man with a sword strapped to his thigh, and because of this they do not fear the demons and killers who walk at night.'"
She wants Moses dick so bad.
>Jubilee
Isn't that a jewish custom?

tbf, in the movie they're not building pyramids.
How did they pay all those fucking extras, man?
>tfw will never have a harem of hebrew qts thirsting for my dick
Rameses gets the best costumes
>wanna be in a big hollywood movie son? free lunch
>gee wiz mister really?
>you betcha hey you might even get noticed make it big become a star, be on set at 4am
It was made in the 50s and I'm not so sure what the unions were like at the time. They probably got away with lemonade and Heston autograph.
So it's one old guy and his harem of daughters out in this desert. How have raiders not killed him and taken the girls?
He's in the middle of the desert.
you think Heston is signing 5000+ autographs? nah m8, free lunch, it was pretty standard
The burning bush of God protects them
agreed.
the absolute state of this board.
>tfw will never be an extra in an classic film epic
Would you rather live 3000 years ago in Egypt as apart of the Egyptian royal family or live your current life now with all the technological conveniences?
God this movie just keeps going and going with so many different characters and loactions. There really is nothing like this made today.
Truely the definition of an Epic.
Dem titties
Egyptian royalty hands down
Live today, no question. No Sup Forums poster would make it more than a few days if they wen't back in time any more than a hundred years ago.
Why is Charlton Heston's voice so fucking great?
He could make paint drying sound godly.
Egyptian Royal any day.
My life is boring and despite having such amazing technology at my hands, it could never surpass being viewed as a literal god among men and commanding vast armies at my disposal.
