sure, they were faster than GIMP but seemed very "one dimensional", one-size fits all, solutions that weren't actually using any genuine Artificial Intelligence - just average out approximations obtained from a wide variety of mediocre archetypal point-and-shoot snapshot images.
If I spent two or three times longer with GIMP, I could get much better results, without any watermark etc., limitations (unless you paid an arm and a leg for the paid version).
