People stick to horses and dogs because those are the most common domesticated animals, so they are what most people interact with. In the USA, over half of all households have a dog, and most people outside of cities have seen horses and most have a few horse ranches near their towns.
Point is this: Most animal fuckers are zoos. What that means is that most people are in it for the animal. At the ranch I work at there's a stallion that I'm VERY good friends with now lol.
