It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

CG was pretty much the one and major problem with the new ones. Everything else was pretty solid, but it just doesn't matter because of how bad the CGI was.
I quite liked the '97 anime, the soundtrack was awesome, and the art was nice.
You gonna watch the Dorohedoro adaptation next month?
Hopefully it isn't Berserk 2.0.

Agree with you on the new one, CG completely ruined all the good about the new one. The 97' was good but I'm just really not a fan of old animation.
Planning on watching it, but im keeping expectations about it low. Probably gonna be berserk 2.0.

Fair enough, old animation can be off-putting sometimes.
What I didn't like about the PVs was how much the characters stuck out like a sore thumb from the background, they didn't blend in at all. The use of CGI may make the smoke magic look really cool, so that may nice. Lack of shading is a bit eh, as well, on the characters.
On the plus side, Kobayashi Yuu is voicing Noi, so I'm extremely excited for that. I love her voice, it's pure sex.

I'd rate claymore very highly, and as an anime pleb can heavily recommend it.

Jonathan - pretty sure Guts would just cleave him in half before hamon could really do anything.
Part 2 Joseph - same reasons as above. Guts is too experienced to fall for his tricks. It worked on the Pillar Men because they were just crazy powerful, not good warriors. They stomped out the hamon tribes pretty easily, so they never really had to learn tactics.
Part 3 Joseph - even less likely, too slow/old and Purple Hermit is too weak offensively to matter.
Jotaro - With The World he'd win no problem. Without the world, maybe. Star Platinum could probably catch the Dragon Slayer.
Josuke - He's like a nerfed Jotaro, and I don't see Crazy Diamond's fixing ability being all that useful, depends on the battlefield, I guess. Tossup but I think Guts would take it.
Giorno - I'd say Guts wins kinda easily against a 15 year old twink. With GER, Giorno wins of course.
Jolyne - haven't read part 6 but she loses because she's a woman lmfao
Johnny - haven't read part 7 either, isn't he the cowboy with spinning balls? Pretty sure his Stand (Tusk?) is really OP like GER is, so he'd probaby win.
Is part 8's Joshu? Haven't read it, but he looks like a sailor with downs. Guts loses because he has PTSD from being on a boat with a retard.
