It really does. He was lined up for Goldeneye, too. Brosnan did a great job, but Dalton would've done just as well.
Dalton's approach to the character was admirable as fuck as he wanted to bring back the spirit of Fleming's Bond, and he did most of his own stunts.

Dalton was basically a good version of Craig.
