Michelle Obama was raised with fairly average values. Of course other people share those values, and can relate to those values. That's the entire reason Michelle included them. She doesn't have a monopoly on having extraordinarily typical values being instilled into her.

Nor is she the first FLOTUS figure to weave a "mother of the nation" theme into her speech. When Michelle and Melania talked about instilling positive values into generations to come, they weren't the only First Ladies to do that, nor will they be the last.

Three similar sentences from two much larger speeches. This is somehow supposed to mean that Melania Trump is a plagiarist.

Unfortunately, the partisan hacks pushing this story fail to acknowledge that FLOTUS speeches are generic. Hell, most political speeches in the Western world are generic. "Honesty, working hard to achieve your dreams, and multigenerational values instilled by elders" are an American meme. This, really, is akin to bitching about speeches ripping off from Horatio Alger novels (Republicans, Democrats and Foreign politicians do that).

More over, this isn't the first time we've seen an unfortunate overlap in a speech. Hell, we have two perfect examples just from our current President and Vice President.

The issue isn't that she copied the theme of Michelle's speech. She literally copied parts of Michelle's speech. You aren't going to mistakedly copy that much of the speech, in the same order, and using the same words simply because the two are thematically linked.
