I sometimes try, but I have no visual imagination and such things, so I really am not as good a player as I should be considering how much time I've spend on it. And if you can't calculate anything, the enjoyment is certainly limited.
I don't like thinking fifty moves ahead in a 2d game. I'd rather cheat and get you on my next move every time in a 3d world.
I don't play chess, but I do play Russian Roulette, a man's sport, with a bullet called "life". Yeah mama called "life".
I used to play all the time when I was little, but I haven't played in years.

I haven't played in a while. I was typically around a 1600 player. For puzzles I ranked around 1920.
Chess is 3d you mongrel. It's not a flat board
Yes, 2 days ago
The game is played in 2 dimensions you move on an x,y axis. There is literally something called 3-D chess to add another dimension to the game.
knight to e1. Checkmate.
started recently and have done some puzzles and watched videos, on lichess i have a rating of 1000 in rapid but my opening is really bad and i blunder a lot, i'm trying to work on it, my tactics are improving a slightly though
Are you retarded? Do you know how old the game is? Jesus.
I play!! Good to see a chess thread on here well done op.
I found out in my second year of uni that it's pretty uncommon to know how to play chess.
I just assumed most people knew since it's such a popular game, it was only around Christmas time when I took out the board and asked my group of friends if anyone wanted to play. Only 2 people out of about 14 in the group actually knew how to play.
Meanwhile back when I was still at my secondary school, sure the nerdy kids used to play chess during lunch all the time but 9/10 kids had a grasp on how to play chess and were usually up for a game.
Yes,
but I'm not as good as I like to think that I am.
Enjoy watching people who really can play the game properly, like today I will be watching the final nine rounds of the World Blitz Championship that will start in about another 45 minutes:

Someone yeet this idiot out of here
Fucking kids shitting up this place forever.
>underage b&
You nerd
What happens when a pawn gets to the other side? Does it gain the power of a queen?
Sometimes promoting to a lesser piece is the best move. Rarely, it's the only winning move.
Been grinding 5m blitz for a couple years. Taught myself to play when I was little but gave it up with no chess clubs or the sort around. Played few enough times in my late teens and early twenties with a coworker but I could count on my fingers how many games.
Started grinding 5m blitz two years ago. Peaked at about 1610. Back up to 1490's after dropping much lower. I hope I'm still on an upward trend. Too late in life to have any real aspirations for it but it's still fun.
People are just stupid. Having average intelligence doesn't make someone a nerd. If you don't understand how to play chess at the most basic level, you're a fucking retard and should be chemically castrated.
I'd hazard more adults who "don't know how to play" know the rules, just not how to play well. If you're in your late twenties or early thirties you also probably grew up at the tail end of things like board games (which are making a comeback but mostly in our age group) or actually playing outside.
Doesn't hurt that kids aren't so worried about embarrassing themselves. You get older and ask somebody at a coffee shop if they'd like to play you get that "I dont know how" from the same people who are first to rush over and observe a game they 'don't understand' when somebody else sits down.
>its not a flat board
kek, autism
>black is fucking clueless
Sure it's not just disrespect?
