No.
Hey! I've been a pipe smoker for a few years and want to throw some tobacco sausages in the mix. I like virginian blends if you know brands that use a tobacco similar in taste and strength. Or hit me with your fav.
are you old and well off or are you just a neckbeard who llikes m'classy flavorsome tobacco for the true discerning connoisseur
romeo y julieta tends to be on the sweeter, milder side. for pipe tobaccos my fave is q1 in a lacroix veritable
My dad is old and well off and got me into it
Its almost certainly the latter user.
I like occasional cigars but imo collecting ANYTHING is a big ass waste of time.
I should say other than things that generate income.
Do people collect cigars and not smoke them? I thought humidors were just to keep them funky fresh?
Cigars can improve with age when properly stored. I have some stuff in my humidor I don't plan on smoking for at least a year
The old guy who runs the tobacconist near me says that you should always line your humidor as the dry wood can leech out small amounts of moisture, he recommended satin/silk at the bottom and sides and to stop contact directly with the wood.
He also used to sell tobacco leaves with which to line them, line your box or separate the cigars from the wood!
You have some average cigars there but only three that I would consider a smoke.
I wouldnt call that collecting though. I do the same with my holiday tobacco mixes. I mix them, seal them, then store them for around six months so the tobacco's oils kind mix
The only shit worth smoking in there are the R&J Cedritos.
No pics, but right now I have a handful of Siglo V Cohibas, a few Bolivares Belicosos Finos, some Partagas 989 varnizado, maybe two or three Ramon Allones Perfectos, a fresh box (minus one) of Partagas Nro 5, and an unopened box of Culebras.
HMU and I'll help you up your game, anonbrother of the leaf.
If you properly season your humidor before its first use that isn't really an issue.
I agree with you on the mediocrity of my collection, all the non-cuban ones were gifts.
>when your size queen personality even affects cigar choice.
This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. The wood, some sort of cedar, is meant to hold and release humidity to keep the cigars smokable.
But I get it... the guy who sold you shit to line up the humidor told you you needed it, so it must be legit. I betcha you ask the barber whether you need a haircut too.
Any good brands for a beginner, i want something that goes well with a bottle of rum
Are you suggesting silk is impermeable to steam user? How does that make sense to you?
Now I gotta know what else this tobacconist told you.
If you aren't american, r&j or trinidad are good brands to start with. If you are american, go for a mature nicaraguan or domican.
user theres a lot of different types of rum. You gotta be more specific
Darker the better is my taste
Don't know jack shit of non-cubans, tho I've had a few that were decent.
If you're just getting started, avoid the full bodied all out heavies like the Cohibas and Partagases.
Stick to Montecristos (Nro1 and Nro2 are a good hour long smoke, a Nro5 is a happy 30 minutes - don't let anyone tell you that a perla like the Nro 5 is a breakfast cigar. A cigar is a cigar and you smoke it when you want it.) Most Bolivares are medium, with nice finishes that won't kill your taste buds.
Generally, Romeo and Julietas are a mild to medium cigar, and I'd consider it a safe bet for a beginner. Mind the vitola, though, any cigar that is too long a smoke will make an inexperienced man a bit green around the gills.
Which brings me to the next point; once you've had your share, put it down and say thanks. Don't keep smoking because you have cigar left. Any cigar smoker will understand and say nothing. Lesser men and women may tease you. Ignore them. It's your cigar, you do what you want with it.
Don't inhale. Sounds basic, but I had to be told, and my enjoyment multiplied after smoking properly.
Don't over puff and heat the cigar. Keep about a half inch of ember at most. It's ok if it goes out, and no sin to relight it. Again, it's your cigar.
Once you have a few under your belt, try adding chocolate to your smoking/drinking session, or mix it up and smoke with a robust coffee, maybe even espresso.
Enjoy, and may the New Year bring new and good experiences to you and all the anons.
Peace.
Nice set user
I recommend My Father The Judge from Garcia & Garcia
I've been smoking them for about 2 years now and I haven't had a bad one yet
My recommendation. It's what I puff on when I'm drinking Kraken and pretending to be a pirate.
cigars-review.org
Just to add on this, etiquette says to smoke no more than 2/3 of the cigar, but if it's a particularly enjoyable one and the tobacco hasn't gotten overly tarry there's no shame in smoking to just before the band.
This motherfucker smokes. A tip of the cap to you good sir.
The biggest tip for beginning cigar smokers is exactly that. "It's your fucking cigar"
enjoy it the way you want. And don't fucking go over board, try and start of with some light. Also I've always found, certainly in the beginning, having a drink with a cigar helped me ease into them. Specifically whiskey or rum with a glass of water on the side to avoid dehydrating your mouth.
Montecristo no 4 is a favorite of mine as an "easy" cigar. Good 25-30 mins smoke or Romeo y Julieta's no 2. Same kind of lenght and gauge .
if you're looking for a slightly harder hitting (yay pun) cigar from cuba try the Punch Punch. It's always hit me in the throat somehow but I enjoy it.
All time favorite, if you're willing to pay for it is a Romeo y Julieta Churchill long. Good 50-60 minutes of delicious smoke time. But it's a bit of a journey to get through and I really only enjoy them on special occasions.
but as the other user said, enjoy it the way you want. Don't mind other people.
Also talk to your local cigar shop owner, they tend to be very knowledgeable and over time get to know your taste profile and preferences.
Why is that an etiquette thing? I didnt pay 30 bucks to only get 2/3 of the cigar. Plus that would be the most flavorful part wouldnt it? I know when I smoke my pipe, the bottom third is my favorite part.
It's not just the humidity, it also provides protection to the outer leaf and it helps prevent tobacco beetles getting into the tobaco.
but all in all it's something I take off right away when I put cigars in my humidor.
Whats the difference been smokking cigar and drinkin cigrar.
Bruh. Don't mind this Fuck etiquette. Smoke the cigar however you want. The only real reason to not smoke further than the last 1/3 is because the embers are so close to your mouth now that the smoke becomes very hot and can taste bitter.
but that entirely depends on the lenght of the cigar, how hard you're sucking and how often you puff.
Just smoke your cigar however far you are enjoying it. Once the taste changes to something you don't like then chuck it out.
Did you just have a fucking stroke?
There are a lot of things in modern etiquette that don't really make sense. Personally I smoke it until there is about half an inch left from the band because once I get to that point the taste gets too harsh
Oh ya. The hot ass embers. You think as a cig smoker that would've clicked. So cigars have paces for specific late smoke flavor? Is it the same as pipes? Slow long puffs with more time between them will still increase tar buildup, giving stronger flavor and increased strength at end
There are tons of stories about this, so I'll recap a few of the top of my head:
Some cigars get a bit heavy and bitter on account of tar towards the end, so the idea is to let go before you're done with the good part so it's a nice experience.
My take on this one: fuck that. It's my gawd dang cigar and I'll smoke whatever I want. That said, I occasionally put down a cigar before it's all smoked, on account of off flavors and whatnot.
It's also said that it was because towards the end of the cigar, the last third, it started to stain the gloves of the gentlemen and ladies smoking them, so it was fashionable to put it down then.
I've heard the same thing of the origin if cigar labels; they were supposed to get some protection for white gloves of the ladies while smoking.
My take on this: fuck that! What kind of faggotry is it to smoke while wearing gloves? Some days I wish I could disconnect my ears.
I can't comment on pipe smoking as I've never done it, although I do want to try it one of these days.
But I would't say it's a specific pace for later on in the cigar. I've always found if I puff to often and too much that the whole cigar kind of heats up and the smoker takes on another taste. That just happens more quickly the closer you get to the end of the cigar.
it's one of the reasons I try to take 1 long draw rather than 2-3 quick puffs. Although sometimes if it's been 1-2 minutes between draws I might give it a quick 1-2 puffs to waken up the embers again.
it's all about what you enjoy yourself. Just test out what works best for you.
Some cigars I smoke down to the point I almost burn my fingers, some cigars I've stopped half way through. It's all about how the mood strikes you, the particular tobacco is tasting that day and the draw of that cigar. I've had great ones that smoked like a dream and cigars I've had to suck at like a crack whore to get even a wisp of smoke, which were clearly rolled far too tight.
I fun knife
Rich fag, try - OpusX
Poor fag, try - Punch (London Club or Churchill)
JR Cigars to purchase
>implying that silk smoking gloves with 1 brown pinky are not the sexiest smoking accouterments you can have
But tar stained gloves would my dick stinky
Fuck me, the last box of R&J puritos I bought were all too tight at the tip and I had to cut off like 1/4" to get a decent draw on the smoke
I don't think there's a standard 'Pace"for a smoke, but if you rush it, it's more likely it'll get funky and you will lose enjoyment.
The trick is to not overheat it, and not let it go out. I find it nice to coax out the flavors by letting it cool for a while and waking it up, or steaming it a bit by taking a couple of puffs close together. It may go out sometimes, but as I stated, it's no sin to relight a good cigar.
At the end of the day, it's a personal thing, kinds like smoking a juicy cigar or a dry cigar (has to do with how much you slobber it), or even dunking the butt of it in the drink (Like Churchill used to do.)
It's an activity meant to bring you some joy, so I personally try not to worry too much about rules and shit. I smoke dry, my good friend slobbers and chews his cigars, and we both enjoy them immensely.
So... if what you did ruins your smoke, don't do it again. If it felt good and you liked it, well my dude, do it again!
> 65%
Bro juice that thing up
Oh so it's almost exactly like pipe smoking.
It's the same thing smoking a pipe, but smoking slow keeps the bowl cool saving both it and your hand
I even know the feel of sucking like a whore when I pack the bowl too much. But i can repack the bowl. What do you do if the cigars air flow is off?
Seriously that fucks my tits right off. Specially if you've lit up already and you're contemplating, do I start cutting off slices to try to get something out or can I try to "massage" the knot out.
Fuck tight rolled cigars.
I love the hardware. I wonder, though, why you have them dry as tinder, and why you keep them wrapped up in plastic.
Remove them cigar condoms with all due haste, and humidify them to at least 78%, and all the way up to 81% so they stop tasting like pig shit.
Glass topped humidors are fancy things, but nothing beats the plain wood box, except for a coleman cooler with cedar trays. I've a glass one I keep to show off when I entertain, but it's usually empty and my smokes live in the coleman and a footlocker humidor.
Seriously, crank up the humidity on that box, lest the cigar spontaneously combust.
I had just had the lid open. It sits right at 70%
Well sometimes the "stoppage" is at the end of the cigar so you can try to cut an extra piece off. But that tends to leave you with a wide mouth piece (depending on cigar gauge) and might mean the outer wrapper leaf will let go. So I hate doing it.
Other option is to gently feel the cigar and see if you can feel any "knots" in it, which sometimes you can kind of massage lose using your fingers or a bit of heat. There's also a ton of weird little tools and needle like things people sell.
But honestly, if it's rolled too tightly most of the time you're shit out of luck.
Man, have I got the thing for you!
or, just saying, use a piece of wire.
I always thought there was a major difference for cigars and pipes, but it seems all the same, just actively smoking a pipe requires more attention and theres a whole little ritual (tobacco prep, packing bowl, the actual smoke, pipe cleaning when finished).
Is there a ritual for cigars?
Pic related. Me and my humidor
You can use your pipe tool to poke hole through the blockage
Neat. I just clipped the tip with a pair of side cutters because I was working
>using wire
Scrub.
I smoke it to the nub, then I shove it up my wife’s vajeen
I like this idea.
Plus my combo tamp/poker was 4 bucks compared to this anons
20$ wooden butt plug
I need more verity
Ohhhhhh that's why hes so dry now
Here. Shit quality but just for you.
Why? A good dogma only really needs 2
The only sensation shes felt down there since she met you
Well, sure.
First, get your friend to come over, or get your ass to his place. If there's a choice, a significant amount of time can be spent choosing the cigar for the day, although sometimes it's predetermined. This doesn't mean there won't be fussiness about the choice, just that there was an expectation.
Then the cigars are removed from the humidor, and the host will hold them up in an open hand for the guest to pick one. It's good form to pick one after barely glancing at them.
If you have one, rest your cigar in the ashtray and get on with the business of pouring the booze of the evening and make small talk. Choose the music you'll listen to, and by this I mean what kind of Blues will it be.
At my place, a game of 8 ball is imminent, so the balls are racked and the cues chalked.
Back to the cigars, and the ceremonial removal of the rings. Note well; not all leafbros will remove the ring, only the ones with class.
At least one cutter is produced when you're with a friend you smoke with often. If a new dude is in the mix, I present four or five so they may have their choice - the usual, or a new thing. Whatever works.
The cigars are cut and the caps smelled. Vacuous commentary on the quality of the "barn smell"are made while the cigars are rolled between the middle and ring fingers, and thumb. Some more vacuous commentary on the consistency of the smokes is made.
Now we actually light the things. I use a butane torch, my bud swears by wooden matches. I light it before puffing, and he sucks his for dear life.
We argue for several minutes about which technique is better, though we all know it doesn't matter. it's not settled yet, and it's been twenty years. Maybe this Saturday.
Smoking begins. He'll make comments about the sweetness or lack of it, and I nod knowingly. Sometimes he'll mention a hint of "flint" or "grass", and I'll often disagree. I've no idea what he's talking about.

For the one acid fan that may exist on this site.
The only cigar I ever smoked was a kuba kuba. I liked the flavored tip. Tasted much better than my friends
After a while, usually with the advent of the second shot of booze, one of us will suggest some chocolate. Depending on the day we may or may not break some out. Either way, life is good.
Getting to the half point of the cigar we'll pause and hold the smoke for a moment, and comment on the nevousness of the smoke (how it evolves, flavor wise) and compare notes on it. We will vehemently argue for our perceptions of the smoke, reach no consensus, and move on.
Towards the end, one or both may decide no "nub" it (that is, smoke until you can't hold it) as proof of how good a cigar it was. This is fun time, as we're well lubed by booze and we agree on almost everything, tho we can't even remember who's shooting solids and whose shot it is.
Your mileage may vary.
I was on the fence before, but now I'm convinced. Cigar smokers are the wine moms of the tobacco community, and I refuse to partake.
I'm glad you took time out of your busy day to let me know.
Since we are exchanging pleasantries, you're the kind of asshole I wouldn't want to hang out with, and I'm grateful you give me one less reason to accidentally come in touch with you.
Go get fucked.
He's just being a faggot, I pull out whatever cigar I feel like, cut it, and whip out my zippo
And further proof is provided.
Lighting a cigar with a zippo will provide you the best possible taste profile. Keep it up, Skippy!
I'm sure you feel large now. Go tell all your friends how you won an internet argument. You are sure a smart guy, and I wouldn't want to anger you IRL.
Have a nice life; I'm out of here.
Yes I figured from the multiple essays hes written on this thread that hes one of those dudes that take their hobby way too seriously.
What's your zippo wearing? Mines bland right now since I left my precious one in a hotel room.
Here he is with my Ol Reliable
To go tell your mom you won an internet argument.
>post humidor pics
okay....?
Better pic of the design
>I was on the fence before,
sounds more like you have the actual fence post literally up your ass.
jus' sayin'
>go tell tour friends you won't an Internet argument
>ur momma!!
lulz
I bet you vape
Sure little buddy
This! Smoke it until youre not enjoying it any longer. Ive laid sticks down after only a few minutes. Others get nubbed! Ive even seen guys throw the nub in a pipe. Its a hobby not a habit. Do it for the enjoyment.
Sure little buddy
That's an interesting idea, smoking the nub in a pipe. Like recycling roaches. I may try that out of curiosity
Fedora gang
Don't mind if I sneak in this thread do you?
>zippo
>in a pipe
fuck, bro. I'm cringing hard that you would choose that in all situations.
I'll smoke my pipe with my pipe zippo too, when I'm outside and it's too windy. that naphtha though... before my dad gifted me a xikar I just used bics and scriptos, because naphtha just fucks the first third of a bowl and of you have to relight that might be most of the bowl spoiled.
Fedoras are out of style. Us fags keep up with the times and wear poor boys.
Sounds like youre smoking more for ceremony. Most folks I know wouldnt use a wooden match as it can impart flavours to your smoke. Also removing the bands is a personal choice. Deliberately removing them only makes you look like a stick snob who thinks they know a lot more about country of origin and age than they actually do.
Best accessory to cigars imho
cigars are for faggots too afraid to suck cock.
eh
I've done it
it's only worth it if you smoke short sticks because I don't have to tell you how much tar the nub from a churchill has packed into it.
you also don't want it to go out or it goes nasty almost immediately (like any other nub that does out)
if anything just shred a cigar and load a pipe with that. I'm sure you've cone cross the odd gar which was too tight to draw through to enjoy.
I don't wear hats
except a bucket hat when I go fishing
I havent had lighting issues with any of my zippos, not that I've noticed anyway. That's the first time I've heard that complaint though, normally the complaint is taste, which is fair. I've found letting it burn 5 seconds before putting it to the bowl is enough the lower the concentration from the initial buildup of the oil and I cant taste it, like lighting with a match. I'm also partial to zippos because of nostalgia and I just like the look.
I have a windproof, not what brand you have but the spelling seems familiar, just dont use it often.
wooden matches are often recommended though
more so are splints
butane is the mostly considered just acceptable and wick lighters bet the thumbs down.
the only way to light your cigar without adding flavor is electric lighter or similar glowing heat source.
no one actually gives a shit about bands
tradition is to leave it on till you're about to burn it. mostly that's because removing a band is always risky. torn wrappers are annoying.
>trips of good advice
That's a good point, I'd be stressed about letting it go out and fucking my pipes flavor. I could just use a corncob though. I'm still gonna go for it, at least to say I tried it since I think the tar is the most flavorful part
This thread is for men of class, not degenerate children.
I tried. I suck. Please remove me from existence.
user, us smoking tobacco in a classy way does not change the fact that we are still degenerates
that's what I said. a zippo always works. I'll smoke my pipe with my zippo when I can't use a butane lighter due to wind. otherwise that naphtha smell amd taste spoils part of the bowl for me.
I also don't smokey pipe often enough to deal with my zippo drying.
I very seriously recommend you look into butane inserts for zippos. you get to keep your zippo but you'll be upgrading to butane but can still swap the wick insert back in wherever.
>my xikar "old boy" knockoff in this old pic I had from a tobacco thread
my grandpa used to smoke cigars in his pipes all the time. shred them up and pack them.
he used to bite chunks off of cigars and chew too. so I don't know.
you won't ghost a pipe if the pipe is one you used for English blends if you swab if after like you're supposed to.
or as you say, a $5 Missouri meerchaum only for cigars for no worries.
