In my personal non-professional opinion, looks nothing like anything that could come from a lung. Google a lung cross section and you don't see any parts that look like that. Could be things he's eaten, things he's put down his nose or whatever. If it is natural, get checked. Also take the feeling/texture into consideration as that can help you figure out what it could be.

Looking at another pic, there is 100% an area where it could've formed, not saying it did, but it looks similar. It could be built up blood that's clotted but he would've had difficulty breathing and pain trying to cough it up. Could be food, you'll never know without an actual professional opinion sadly

The area in this cross section is the bronchiole/bronchi. It would be pretty difficult to pass that through the bronchiole “tree’s”. Also, depending on how many of these exist that haven’t been coughed up yet (if it is in the bronchioles) he wouldn’t be perfusing properly and would be short of breath constantly
