How much do you put away in your savings and investments, separately, per month? Also, how much do you make? Envious and curious.
I have a salaried job that also pays commission based on sales, so it varies. $120k this year and $100k last. On a bad year it could be as low as $85k, so I structure my budget based on that number.
I ensure 20% of my gross income is automatically placed into savings. All of it goes to investments as I have already built up a comfortable emergency fund. After that is taken care of more money in low interest savings accounts (rates suck these days) is just a waste. Normally $46k would be too much but most of it is money I'm setting aside for a new place. Otherwise it would be lower with most of the cash going to tax-beneficial accounts and invested.
