I don't know what's it like in the US, but here, the most popular "fast food" types, pizza and chevapi, 99% of the people can't make it like they make it in restaurants.

So when you're too tired or have friends over, it's great to order in and in the majority of cases it's all fresh made and not drowned in fat(if you know where you're ordering from).

Also one person meal (medium sized pizza/large portion of chevapi) costs under 5euros.

So much this. Most of what I cook, is done in 30-45 minutes - and lasts for at least 5 meals, up to 10, depending on what I cook. (Big pot of chili con carne for the later example)

Actually, doing this also saves yourself time - think about it, 5 meals. Drive / walk to the next food joint, order there, wait a bit for the food - easily a 15 minute timesink each meal, all in all.

The only burgers I've eaten in the last 10 years are homemade (with a nice mix of beef and pork meat, yolk and spicies). Once I went to a hamburger gourmet that tried to charge 12€ per burger...

In the nearest decently-sized town, there are countless kebab places. I used to regularly go to the only one that wasn't run by Turks. They were people from North Africa. They were very friendly, very polite, always offered free mint tea, shit like that. Then, as usual, some Turks eventually took over the place. Now, just like in all the other ones, they are rude, they never EVER crack a smile, and the food is mediocre.
I wish it was different. I have Turks in my family. My sister-in-law is Turkish, my niece is half-Turkish. I wish Turks acted like decent people. The vast majority simply don't.

I can cook it sure, but it costs more overall because I can't buy enough at a store for just one meal. Things are packaged in a greater quanity than I need as one person. So I'm stuck eating the same shit for at least 3-4 meals or throwing it out.

I let the employees see me as I walk up to the register, look back there and I don't like what I see, I just walk out. I've been doing this for over 10 years.
