Dude this movie is so deep and philosophical

>dude this movie is so deep and philosophical

it is, for a teenager

The movie is a shell for ideas.

Honestly i mostly watched it for cyborg tits

Ghost in the Shell is just a poor man's Kaiba.

stop talking about gits, both the original and the remake

>Dude contrarianism lmao

You have to understand the majority of people that call it that watched it when they were 14-17

I just started SAC tho, it's bretty fun so far. Only 3 episodes in tho.

its decently made but it's fucking glacial and the characters are really flat. Also will never understand using cgi for the opening.

HAHAHA yes I thought I was watching the wrong show when the intro came on for the first time. Had to skip forward. I feel you on the characters. Any recs on something similar to this aesthetic but better made? Is the earlier recommended Kaiba worth? I'll probably still pull through SAC, kills the time pretty decently.

jormungand

She wasn't even hot til SAC

>akira background

>he didnt jerk it to the opening scene
all around me are plebeian faces

fpbp

of course the stunted manchildren here will never admit it since they never went after their teenage phase

does Batou celebrate easter?

>Also will never understand using cgi for the opening.
Are you talking about the radar scene? Or did you watch the terrible special edition where they replaced the animation with awful out of place CGI?
Dont watch that version.

I don't get it. The movie finally starts to get interesting and suddenly it ends.

But it is deeper and more philosohical than 99% of the movies out there.

...

Well, when teenagers are your biggest demographic...

yeah I watched it and it was like baby's first scifi story

the standard of anime must have been really really low back then

akira is overrated too even though I love the soundtrack

The art & animation is breathtaking tho. You at least gotta give credit where it's due

HARRISON, IS GOOSE GONNA AUTISM UP BLADERUNNER2 BEYOND RECOGNITION

CONTAIN HIS AUTISM HARRISON

None of you can into context or what's actually good about it. People calling it deep were bandwagoning. They are focusing on all the wrong aspects and they share that with the people calling it shallow.

Now Akira actually fails as a adaptation and a standalone film despite all the technical achievements. The source is fine.

>lol gotta love it everyone else does haha!

I am a huge fan of the movie and I fully acknowledge that it isn't deep. The deepest part is DUDE WHAT MAKES A HUMAN A HUMAN LMAO and that theme is pretty fucking blatant in the movie.

No, that's not it. Dumb contrarians really can't understand even simple concepts.

>let's talk shit about this 20yr old movie I just found out about

>dude this movie is so deep and philosophical
Who are you quoting, exactly? "Deepness" is not the reason why GITS rightly recognized as an amazing film. Alien, 2001 and Blade Runner aren't particularly deep either.

>Now Akira actually fails as a adaptation and a standalone film
You're a fucking idiot if you can't appreciate Akira as a standalone film.

Glad you acknowledge it.
The green text got me for a minute and i thought you where a retarded faggot trying to be sarcastic.

The themes of the movie where really interesting back in 94 and most american cyberpunk from the late 90's borrowed from it.

Also pacing and characters still hold if you get japanese narrative.

Is this suppose to show no matter what women will always be inherently weak?

it's the perfect mix of entertaining action movie, cool setting wankery and just enough philosophical things in the plot to make it interesting.

>and most american cyberpunk from the late 90's borrowed from it.

keep being delusional weeb

GitS is an empty shell. Visuals and music but absolutely nothing inside.

Deeper than Bladerunner at least.

>reddit spacing

leave

He probably thinks that Shirow invented robocop and blade runner.

>akira is overrated too even though I love the soundtrack

Wrong.

But GitS is just characters droning on and on about nothing.

>I don't get it. The movie finally starts to get interesting and suddenly it ends.
98% of movies.

t. dumb, uneducated fanboy who was born in 1996

It dances the line between male and female, and robot and human so well desu. Definitely shows in this scene

>akira is overrated

>Akira actually fails as a adaptation and a standalone film

> He think the movie is Shirow's merit and not Oshii

Stay pleb.

It's not -that- deep, but it is compared to most Hollywood flicks including that shitty remake.

>I-IT'S NOT A 1:1 ADAPTATION OF THE SOURCE MATERIAL THEREFORE IT'S BAD!!!!!!!
>LEAVING THINGS AMBIGUOUS WHEN THEY WERE EXPLICITLY EXPLAINED IN THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL IS A PLOT-HOLE!!!!!!!
>MY WHOLE SENSE OF SELF-WORTH IS DERIVED FROM BEING AN ANIME EXPERT, SO I HAVE TO SHIT ON ANYTHING THAT RECEIVES MAINSTREAM RECOGNITION TO SHOW THAT I AM SUPERIOR, EVEN THOUGH I'M ACTUALLY AN UNCULTURED SIMPLETON!!!!!!

Don't you have anything better to do Mike?

>reddit spacing

what's with this stupid forced meme

you know r*ddit is walls of text to get upvotes right? People used to say you're not Sup Forums if you DON'T do a space between each thought

all these arguments could be used to defend GiTS movie too

about as deep as terminator or something

People give highly disproportionate credit to things that are asian because they're asian.

This "brilliant symbolism" is so fucking boilerplate that it's just considered essential in western cinema.

>symbolism
the fuck are you talking about?

Shhh he's trying to be deep, user.

movies that producers will never understand

I don't understand Ghost in The Shell DETECTED

The religious imagery?

Its about a female cyborg with a mid-life existential crisis.

Not sure what you're arguing here...
