BBC & PBS

How does Sup Forums rate them and their programming? Which one is better?

Bump

knowing Sup Forums most people here probably prefer BBC

shit

waste of public money

propaganda

RT is literally better than that crap

Globalist propoganda content for fedora wearing libcucks

Pbs has some great nature and science shows. And rick steves and america test kitchen.

Most BBC shit is garbage and they focus too much on dramas. Let the pros do the dramas.

politically correct trash, used to be good 20+ years ago, both should be defunded consdering current state

on the other hand when BBC does documentaries, they do it better than anyone else

Easy. Ask yourself which one enforces tv licenses and which doesn't. There's your answer.

Americans purchase a tv licence when they purchase a tv tuner. That's why tv's cost 150$ more than comparable computer monitors. Because the included tuner is taxed.

PBS, NPR, and the NEA are all rightfully being defunded by the Trump administration. They're nothing but boring pretentious shit for retirement home viewers that nobody else cares about, reruns shitty tumblr-core soap opera trash like Sherlock and Luther and Downton Abbey made by the globalist Brit-gov shill BBC, and blatantly obvious liberal agenda shilling documentaries/"news" programs.

Disgusting.
And fuck the BBC too, in case that wasn't obvious.

BBC puts out a lot of stuff between like 5 TV channels and dozens of radio stations + the most popular news website in the UK

they put out both a lot of good stuff and a lot of absolute shit

Why doesn't PBS produce original dramas and comedies like the BBC?

Fuck are you talking about?

Only BBC gets license fee, not ITV or channel 4. It's literally a BBC tax.

Arent they both paid for by tax dollars?
Yet all they do is spew liberal propaganda. When trump won the panel on pbs was crying and one guy left the room to call his family

It's mostly absolute shit. Who even watches bbc tv or listens to bbc radio? 99% is substanceless Top 40 pop garbage and reality tv-core shit. With 15 minutes of commercials for every 15 minutes of "content" too.

Tuner taxes are used to fund pbs and the fcc.

Are you a child and don't realize all kinds of shit you purchase have hidden taxes?

>not liking PBS or BBC
You're all a bunch of plebs.

BBC is incredibly biased, literally a fucking propaganda outlet.

>99% of the radio is top 40 music
>radio 3 isn't
>radio 4 isn't
>world service isn't
>radio 6 isn't
>radio 5 live isn't

hmmm...yes...

>everything is le reality tv xD

why just make shit up?

Remember when BBC America would show all kinds of great Britcoms? Now it's nothing but Doctor Who and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

When that happens it means they're running on autopilot. They're too scared to ditch what brings in consistent viewers and not willing to take a chance on something new. The number will still eventually decline though, there's only so many times you can rewatch the same reruns before you tune out. It's what killed g4 and other channels, but the BBC will live forever cause muh gibmint cheese

I was so excited when they finally started showing QI. I don't think it lasted six months. :-(

>radio 3
literally classical and jazz music for fedora tippers and 90 year olds
>radio 4
literally NPR-podcast tier programs and "news" bullshit of no real substance
>radio 6
hipster bullshit music that nobody cares about
>radio 5 live
dude cricket and soccer and real sports xD the channel

>everything is le reality tv xD
TV shows nothing but lowest common denominator trash the vast majority of the time. Especially the BBC, they just interject it with shitty dramas and fake news.

>>radio 5 live
>dude cricket and soccer and real sports xD the channel

this is where I caught on, nice attempt but try to make your bait slightly believable

Amerifat detected.
Downton is on ITV, the most plebian of networks.
I wouldn't even let the servants watch it.

I'm not even baiting you fucking halfwit.

>pbs is propaganda since many of its members didn't support a retarded candidate who was almost universally rejected by both parties prior the the rnc
lmao

That's totally different to the UK situation. Why are you getting salty?

All other UK channels are funded by advertising. Only the BBC profits from the license fee. The old "Law" tried to make people pay for watching DVD's ffs.

Our country's don't work the same way.

Its a little more complicated today because Auntie has to buy a certain amount in. So it does support other producers (ITV Studios and Channel 4) through subsidy towards critical mass. This is some insidery type stuff though.

>15 minutes of commercials for every 15 minutes of "content" too.
Why say something so blatantly untrue, the BBC has less ads than almost every other channel

Hi Rupert. That Wendy Deng huh.

Frontline is godtier investigate reporting.

>that documentary with the basement dweller who fought in the libyan civil war
Good shit

>tfw Bill Murray produced kino PBS Owl Documentaries and Sup Forums is too retarded to care

holy shit are you literally me when i was twelve
don't go out with the girl with the red hair dude she's a cunt

The BBC has a radically greater budget and much broader mission. Comparing the two makes no sense.

>With 15 minutes of commercials for every 15 minutes of "content" too.

one of the main good points of the bbc is they don't show adverts. what the fuck are you even on about?

I live in Taiwan. BBC is a heavy player here. PBS isn't. Besides BBC world news, three other channels such as life, earth and entertainment are now available. Even before that "local" channels are buying shows from BBC. their news on Asian affairs are also often cited by local media.

to be fair Discovery channel does better documentaries on private funding.

I'm not actually a fucking britbong. I would kill myself if I had to live there.

So basically you don't have any actual experience watching or listening to any of the shit you were talking about?

at least you admit it

I too watch antiques roadshow

I know what they air and seen many of their programs, but I've just never sat down and watched the channel itself.

First prize in the lottery of life mate.
Better luck next time eh.

Average PBS schedule:
>12 hours of kids shows with subtle liberal propoganda
>PBS Nightly News sponsored by the Democrat party
>BBC news telecast for some reason ft. globalists
>Marathon of old people selling useless junk - the reality show
>Telethon - gib me money pls
>some shitty opera or theater program
>science/nature documentary about muh climate change
>random episode of forgotten BBC shitcom from 1992
>Telethon #2 - pls gib more $$$$
>random episode of mid-2000s BBC crime drama that is essentially CSI or Law and Order with accents
>some fucking history documentary about Democrats being good and Republicans being bad
>30 minutes of watching paint dry

Wow. Yeah, this DEFINITELY needs to be funded with billions of taxpayer dollars and not outright shut down.
>

Pretty retarded m8

Defend it then.

Imagine not being British

Those poor people

Well for a start 5 live is the topical day to day news broadcast which does of course also have sports. They normally take a weekly or even daily hot topic and debate it. Similarly there's a lot of political discussion from all sides of the spectrum plus pmqs and other specialist programmes like the Friday film review. It's actually quite a decent radio station

Yeah all with a blatant liberal slant
