In Afrikaans everything is singular. Plurals are gone.
Double denials.
Suffixes are gone in Afrikaans.
They removed a lot of words, like most of the articles.
So people who speak Afrikaans will be faced with a lot of new sounds.
While for a Dutch person Afrikaans sounds like very simplified Dutch.

the coloured people's afrikaans is closer to dutch than the white people's (for geographical and historical reasons).
an example will be a cape coloured will say

Frisian is a completely different language. It's closer to English than to Dutch.

In the mainlands of the Netherlands we have three regional languages, Frisian, Limburgish and Dutch Low Saxon. They are all very much alive. But when someone speaks Dutch your supposed to answer in Dutch.
Although like 85% of the people speaks with an accent people still consider people who speak with an accent dumber.
Frisian is fairly understandable for Dutch people.
Not sure if Frisians can understand other Frisian languages.
Limburgish can turn into complete gibberish.
