Used to spook me bretty good tbqh

Duuude that and the cover to Hellraiser freaked me out. Funny enough i fucking love horror movies now.

I used to look at it because on the back there was a picture of Jack in the shower with a naked woman. Made my willy tingle.

Yeah that cover freaked me out too.

Doesn't look like a very good movie.

youtube.com/watch?v=suzbNwQTQh4

yeah it looks cool but then you actually watch it and it's some dumb bullshit about a snowman dad.

aw, jeez, from the picture i always assumed he was fucking the woman because he's such a gangster.

>be 10
>move to a new state
>at the Hastings
>what the fuck is a hastings
>checking out the dvds (dvds had just come out)
>an animated section
>ghost in the shell is in there
>see half naked boobs
>my 11 year old boner couldn't handle it
I should watch it one day.

Looking at all the spooky horror movie covers was the best part of going to the video store.

I convinced my mom to rent me this. I didn't realize that Frost was raping Shannon Elizabeth until I rewatched it a few years ago.

I fucking remember that. Walking past all those horror covers was pure paradise for me.
Also, the DVD store (I'm a 90s kid) my family used to go to had this huge figure of the final monster from The Thing. I could've stared at that thing for hours.

The cover to IT, Critters, Puppet Master and some movie with a frog eating a person on the cover

How the fuck does everyone in this thread have this exact same experience
No but seriously fuck that cover

becuase its what that cover set out to do

...

Fuck yea.
I didn't even have the money to rent shit when I was little, but I still loved looking at the covers and reading the backs, imagining what the movie was gonna be like

We're all in a mid-20s and still remember walking around the Blockbuster aisles.

It had by all means a great VHS Cover.

I did the same I had such high expectations for some movies and was utterly disappointed when I watched them as an adult

For me the scary cover was from a movie called House (I think) with a dismembered hand on it.

>I still loved looking at the covers and reading the backs, imagining what the movie was gonna be like

This is exactly what I did, whenever my dad and I went into the city when I was a kid, we'd go to at least two movie stores and I'd always fuck off to find the horror movies while he hunted down James Bond DVDs and westerns. Read the back of every single horror movie DVD I could, fueled my imagination, always told him ideas for movies I came up with on the way home.

That's actually a comedy just so you know

Oh yeah? This was 25+ years ago. I never ended up watching it.

RIP Hastings

The Hellraiser one traumatised me every Friday evening. Horror VHS covers are a lost art.

>That shower scene

I remember as a kid I saw an american godzilla poster at a library or a vhs store or something and he was breathing green fire, it must have been fan made or something

I don't know how I ended up seeing this shit at such a young age. That snowman fucking rapes and kills Shannon Elizabeth with a carrot dick in the movie. I like to think I turned out ok though

Fuck hastings.

>t. Hastings employee

>Fuck yea
cringe. How's it going reddit?

I'm cringing that you found that cringe.

>from the picture i always assumed he was fucking the woman because he's such a gangster.

boi what exactly do you think he was doing there? he even placed the carrot at his crotch region.

I remember walking by "Heavy metal" all the time at cockbuster as a kid and bonering. I got the balls to rent it one time as a kid, cause my mom was in another section and I had grabbed it before she saw the cover

The Naked Lunch and Poltergeist covers used to scare me.

Child's Play 1-3 were the ones that scared the shit out of me.

...

>tfw flipping over the VHS every once in a while at the store and pondering about snowman-women sex with an awkward boner

For me, it was this

Horror vhs box art was so fucking cool.

This, Species posters, and Bride of Chucky vhs.
Also,
>loving Jurassic Park
>See Carnosaur III vhs
>Get it. Disturbed as youngling

>go to walmart as a kid
>check out the back of some anime dvd
>girl has her head cut in half and there's another naked girl

If you haven't sat down and watched Jack Frost, you really should. Genuinely a hilarious movie, although I'm not sure how much of it was intentional.

Naked Lunch as a movie still scares me

That Film made me cry so hard. Almost as much as that movie about the kid with down syndrome who's estranged father promised to take him out for the day and he waited on the curb for his father all day until the Sun went down and he never showed up

That's a different Jack Frost. The one in the OP is a horror movie about a serial killer who gets melted down and inhabits snow.

Never seen your home movie m8, none of us have. Can't relate.

Jack Frost 2 is kino

I always used to get confuse because there was some family comedy about a talking snowman and I thought that was it and didn't know why it had a scary cover

This one got me. Funny enough, it's now one of my favorite movies.

Is this movie as god tier as I remember it? Haven't seen it in 10+ years.

kek

For me, it is this

He did fuck her.
It's why he's thrusting her and his carrot is gone.

>That's a different Jack Frost

That's the joke retard.

>get trigger by bad words
cringe. How's it going reddit?

>having to walk past something
>frightening

why was i such a fucking beta cuck?

REDDIT?!

REDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT!!!!!!!

Yep, although 2 spooked me a bit more

Same. I remember really liking the Silence of the Lambs box for some reason and I'd always ask to get it. When I finally saw it, I understood why they kept telling me, "No."

I also remember when pogs were a thing and they had a huge box(it was almost a pit) of those things at Blockbuster.

The covers of Jaws 1 and 2 used to scare me shitless

I remember being a kid and knowing about the other Jack Frost, which was more of a family film, and I loved it, then when I told another kid about it he was like "oh yeah dude that movie's crazy dude that's where he like stabs people with ice sicles" and I was like lulwut

>American Werewolf in London.
Back when I saw it, I had to come back from school on my bike which had a badly set dynamo. I had to pedal like crazy just to have a small dim light in front of me and I had to cross kilometers of dark country just like in the movie.

I could have run the tour de France with the fear after seeing that movie and having to cross the dark country area.

>double spacing
>using the term "cringe"
>expecting others to believe they fit in

Newly converted are always the most retarded ones.

Old VHS covers are so comfy.

All three

kek'd

Did you just accuse moi of being a newfag?
Me?
ME?!
A NEWFAG?!
YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD BIZNITCH!

>the monster is a big black cock with teeth

Bravo, (((Hollywood)))!

...

What was that American store that was in malls that was for teens (?) and they had a bunch of weird shit? Anyways they had a Chucky doll in the corner of the store and I walked in there as a kid and was fucking traumatized.

spencers? hot topic?
>tfw hot topic actually used to be cool and edgy

Pretty sure he's talking about Spencer's.

Yes that was Spencer's. Fuck that store. Also fuck Hot Topic too. Used to go there a lot when I was younger not sure why.

This movie was pretty shit. I don't know how people are so fond of it.

I used to go to Spencer's as a kid because they had birthday cards with nudity.

The man who made this movie is scarier than anything in this film.

Hello former Hastings employee.

>t. 9810 Hastings

I dont remember it fondly, but i do remember that bad ending where it skinned that kid, that was memorable

In 1988, Salva was convicted of sexual misconduct with one of Clownhouse's underage stars – a 12-year-old boy – including videotaping one of the encounters. Commercial videotapes and magazines containing child pornography were also found at his home. Salva pleaded guilty to lewd and lascivious conduct, oral sex with a person under 14, and procuring a child for pornography.[6][7] He was sentenced to three years in state prison, of which he served 15 months."

Only 15 months? What the fuck??

That's Pedowood for ya!

How exactly snowman could rape someone?

Fuck you that post almost made me tear up

FUCK I remember that. Shit was terrifying.

This was mine, gave me nightmares

In retrospect I was being too much of a pussy

Movie itself is actually more sad than scary desu

Why did the family friendly Jack Frost come out a year after the horror comedy one? I'm still confused after 18 years.

I remember that shit.
What happened to your guys childhood video store? Mine turned into a spa.

This one used to scare the shit out of me

its more of a tan/brown desu

...

Man this thread full of pussies
>being scared by chucky or freddy krueger
Vhs covers always were cool

Fuck off

hellraiser and silence of the lambs always disturbed me

it's because the creeper is a pretty unique horror monster

and what was the one with a face covered in bees or some shit

candyman

bingo good memory. always hated walking by that one.

It's got a pretty decent first half and the pedo undertones combined with the director's past make it interesting to analyze.

I bought the VHS when I was about 12 or 13 (before the days when they carded), along with some Witchblade comics. I gave my dick a savage beating that weekend.

youtube.com/watch?v=B05FrZqFY3g

The best part is after he got out he quickly got work with fucking Disney of all companies on a movie about a teenage girl.

>frog eating a person on the cover

I think it's just called "Frogs".

This was us as kids
