I was practically forced to see this last night because it was the last day that the best theater in my city was showing it. WTF
Plus, nearly everyone was wrong about it regarding Asian actor representation.
Togusa >asian Saito >asian Aramaki >asian and literally speaks japanese throughout the entire movie not to mention the tons of Asian side characters.
And not to spoil too much, the main criticism about the main character was especially wrong.
It was a solid film and my heart hurts because of its poor performance and the likely possibility we won't be seeing a rated R Ghost in the Shell 2 with the Major having sexy nipple upgrades.
Levi Ramirez
>Asian side characters
And that's all Asians will ever be until we stand up for ourselves and say enough is enough. Just more bullshit to try and promote Asian genocide.
Forcing diversity into Asian stories is cancer and I hope you die painfully you piece of dogshit.
Connor Roberts
With they way it preformed, they may as well have made it R and shown nipples.
Brandon Nguyen
It's decent. I was expecting it to be much, much worse. I guess I too fell for the disney/marvel negative shilling.
Isaac Butler
>Disney had a stake in this
You need to go back.
Anthony Long
If you want to be truly honest about this, you have to blame it on the design of the characters featured in anime. Japanese manga artist stylized their characters to such a degree that another ethnic group could come along and portray their characters just as good, if not better.
I've been following the Ghost in the Shell series since it debuted in theaters in the 90s and over a decade ago I read some of the Shirow's explicit manga of the series, so I'll say it's a fairly accurate depiction of the Major. I mean, she's had numerous redesigns and Scarlet captures her well. Given the nature of the series, a Japanese actress could easily replace Scarlet though she may not have the same appeal of the Major.
Blake Cooper
>Togusa>asian
the problem wasn't that Togusa was Asian, it was that he looked as old as Aramaki
Parker Reyes
Yeah, but it was incredibly dumbed down. The original Ghost in the Shell gave us a fairly detailed explanation about the possibilities of human augmentation and Ryle's work, Ghost in the Machine from which the series draws the foundation of its concepts regarding mind-body dualism. I don't even think the movie goes into describing some of the weapons and gear like the original and later series tries to do. I wanted Batou to describe some of his weapon enhancements like he was a true operator.
Anyway, it's a solid 7/10. It has so much potential to be better than just a cyberpunk crime flick. It was more style than substance.
Thomas Torres
I am to watch it tomorrow. That am I into? Honest question. Is it good as a scifi? Ive seen the anime but I find it just ok
Carson Morris
>Scarlet captures her well
Only a pre-paid shill could be this deluded.
Luke Ward
>the next gen matrix
Grayson Reed
Yeah, agreed, but you have to consider the pool of Asian American actors before you scrutinize these decisions to harshly.
I think Takuya Kimura would've made an excellent Togusa.
Nathaniel Mitchell
Ok, so I finally went and saw this. And I gotta say, it was pretty damn good.
You see, I spent too much time on this degenerate taiwanese frog posting board, and you all blinded me with your autism. You idiots spend way too much time in your parent's basements, pecking away on your mechanical keyboards, spouting off nonsense, popping a boner for every (You).
I listened to your garbage, and it almost prevented me from seeing this well-cast, beautiful, anime adaptation.
You depraved pieces of shit need to go out into the sunlight a few times a week, maybe meet another human being face to face. Just stay the fuck off Sup Forums and stop contaminating the rest of humanity with your bullshit.
Jack Russell
It's fantastic scifi. Go see it, so we can get a Ghost in the Shell 2.
You will enjoy it. The focus is mainly action.
Landon Bailey
To be fair, the trailer makes the movie look like shit and Scarjo is boring as fuck.
Austin Baker
tl;dr
Cameron Scott
it's a solid 7-8/10, i don't get all the hate. can't wait for the bluray rip so i can watch it again.
i really hope they'll release an extended cut or a sequel.
the only bad things were that they showed too little of section 9 and no nipples/blood.
Lucas Robinson
Yes and be sure to bring friends. Get the whole family to join and make as many repeat viewings as possible.
*wink*
Jose Watson
It was a solid sci-fi film. Should have a reasonable cult following when it's on Blu-ray and Jewflix.
Nathan Morris
Nice reddit-spacing.
Grayson Morales
thanks Mr. Shlomo just gf and I am paying
Noah Ross
>not being a fan of ScarJo's/Major's 2nd Gig ass
Don't you have to actually see the movie to have your opinions taken seriously?
Christopher Cooper
>gun blocking an ass shot Are they doing it on purpose?
Austin Wood
>wow everyone was wrong opening weekend we had a fuckton of threads saying "IT DOESNT SUCK! FUCK YES!" including the one i made
Julian Peterson
When did they replace ScarJo with June Ackland from The Bill?
Matthew Scott
Stop letting jews run your media
Lincoln Wood
I was mainly referring to the negativity before the movie's release, but I'll admit that threads like yours motivated me even further to see the film. Thank you. Although, I was going to see it despite the pre-release negative opinions because I don't really trust the majority opinion held here.
Henry Torres

Josiah Smith
Irony is that all the bullshit on Sup Forums actually made this movie watchable as I have expected it to be a lot worse. Pretty cool visuals with a not so good story. Also, that consent bullshit was annoying as fuck.
Nathan Flores
Last push of the shilling before it goes away?
Hope so and plese dont return when the dvd arrives no one should buy it.
