Pullo was a better Tyrion and Vorenus was a better Stannis and Octavian was a better Joffrey.

tbqh

true

True but also Borgias>Rome

utterly shit comparison

Trips confirm, but why not just start a thread saying that water is wet?
youtube.com/watch?v=Xd_kh3V1aTM

TRVE ROME THREAD, FOR TRVE ROMANS

Wait, was Joffrey the hero?

Octavian did NOTHING wrong.

Joffrey was stupid. That was his only problem.

fuck off

...

Starts turning to shit the minute you start noticing that Pullo and Vorenus get away with breaking da rulez every time and the 500th time Antony throws a bitch-fit when Vorenus asks for permission to do whatever, only to let him do it anyway, but I assume that was when they got the cancellation notice. y they do this

If I let the leader of the opposing faction in a civil war go, you can bet there would be consequences.

At least compare it to a historical series like Deadwood or something.

...

We have powerful gods on our side

Rome confirmed for patrician show

Et tu?

BTFO true patrician is comming, I Claudius

Is Rome consistently good? I love the setting and don't want to start something that becomes frustrating to finish.

The shit on my shoe is better than current GoT

Yes. There's great moments throughout up to and including the final episode. Nothing is perfect, of course and I have my quibbles, but my greatest annoyance with the show was its cancellation.

PullI and Vorenous were shit characters that brought the whole show down.

There's only two seasons, and though some say that they don't like the second one , the quality is still pretty high all the way through

it never gets bad, but midway through the second season it feels rushed because the show got cancelled and they had to cram a lot of stuff in it

I, Claudius > Rome > GOT

What are some other good shows from this time period?

...

>hello my name is moark anthonayyy
what did they mean by this?

The thing that bothers me about Rome is that they skip over virtually the entirety of the civil war in favour of the fictional Pullo/Vorenus bromance.

>Pullo
Is there a dumber character?

Game of Thrones:
>1 great season, 2 decent, 3 shite

Rome:
>1 majestic season, 1 utter fucking garbage

Watching it now. Around episode 9 of the 1st season.

In some aspects it's a weaker show, at least in how some episodes are directed, even if GoT indeed has some terribly directed ones.

Vorenus is a great likeable character, nothing of the sorts in GoT. However, I feel that Pullo is a bit weak because sometimes he's literally the deus ex machina making the plot continue. His role as evanescent mediator is a bit too obvious sometimes, even if I understand that's something like that is needed if you want to be faithful to History in a short number of episodes.

What about I, Clavdivs?

Well that was the purpose of the show to show the events of the time through the eyes of some regular legionries

this bugged me too

the battle of pharsalus, one of the most significant battles in the civil war is 5 blurred seconds of people swinging their swords about. it would've been amazing if all the battles more attention. philippi's was great

youtube.com/watch?v=exI45AnLBRc

Spartacus is pretty good.

There are hardly any battle scenes, and second season was rushed as fuck.

Rome's second season was better than 90% of shows at their best. It was rushed, but it was still good.

Augustus really was a great ruler, so this is largely true.

Spartacus was good too. They went crazy overboard with the historical accuracy down to using latin grammar and sentence structure for the dialogue. If you could find any flaws it's that everyone is just too damn too sexy for Ancient Rome.

Too bad only me and you have seen I, Claudius

in which episode reads he about the jews ? why no webm(eme) from that yet

>Jerememe Irony
opinion discarded

btw pic relater über alles

unironically true

>it's a titus and pullo find something they would in reality have very little chance of finding
>they find the standard
>they "find" the gold but walk past it
>they find Octavian
>they find his children

There was definitely like two other things they found. Grain? or something.

Seriously it was absurd. good show even still.

pic related is /ourguy/ right?

They found Pompey after the shipwreck

>token nigger character

spartacus is for kids with low attention span
effects are tacky as fuck as well
rome is miles ahead of spartashite

actually no, its a really imporant character. they had token faggots tho.

>token retard post

Read a fucking book

There's a lot of black people around the mediterranean. Especially slaves.

best bromance

So are you just turning 14 or something? Do you think this somehow is news, you dumb faggot?
Just fuck off and don't come back, you little shit.

The "they have powerful gods on their side" line is an acknowledgement of this.

Mr. "I'm not rising from this bed until I've fucked someone"? Nah.

You're a loser, are you aware of that?

Second season was shit

This was also a great show, won't lie

CHEQUED!

...

Well no shit. A well-written and superbly casted series about Caesar and the conditions in Rome is going to trump some fatass' shitty War of the Roses fantasy fanfic. It's a real shame that Rome only got 2 seasons because we don't get too much depictions of Roman history nowadays.

HBO

WHERE ARE MY SEASONS

when you read the GoTs books and hear GRRM talking about it you realize it's supposed to be a lot closer to the Borgias in terms of look and feel then the stupid HBO show.

>pic related is supposed to be heir to one of the wealthiest families in Westeros.
>looks like an extra from Vikings.

youtube.com/watch?v=guWDCXPCxGc

This short conversation between Pullo and Octavian has better writing that anything i've seen in GoT. Still enjoy GoT though.

HE WAS A

GOOD FRIEND.

This is the final redpill and most people here don't dare to swallow it.

...

>muh republic

That kid was so fucking good as Octavian.
>tfw don't live in the universe where Rome got to run its full course
>tfw live in the one where shitty faggot GoT did

>turn your best friend into a cuck
>nothing wrong

>HBO
BBC you ameriturd. Just because we sell you rights to view it doesn't make it fucking yours

Oenomaeus was a fucking gaul.

meh...Pullo was actually a pretty good representation of what a legionarie would have been like.

Vorenous had pretty accurate attitudes re a member of the minor nobility.

they fucked with some stuff for the sake of drama (muh mafia subplot, Vorenous breaking his client/patron relationship with Antoni) but the characters were pretty good representation of Romans.

HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME

>but the characters were pretty good representation of Romans.
>All citizens, be aware that the vassal, Prince Herod, Tetrarch of Galilee, has come to the city. By order of the triumvirate, during his residence here, all mockery of Jews and their one god shall be kept to an appropriate minimum

Cato was younger than Caesar. He was an alt-right while Caesar was a fucking pleb loving bolivarian socialist. Fuck Caesar. SPQR, not panem et circenses ok?

The war scenes in this show made me feel feels i have never felt before in tv or films.

Everyone should watch it.

GoT is an HBO show you brain-dead limey cousin fucker.

Please tell me euro's aren't *this* retarded.

BBC contributed 15 million of a show that cost 100 million, that doesn't make it the BBC's either.

The creators pitched a show to HBO, BBC agreed to co-produce.

grass is green

heh...I kek'd at that part.

I,Claudius is God-tier

The problem was that they shoved them into every plot line, the characters were fine, but should have been minor ones in a great ensemble.

Caesar wasn't a socialist, so much as he was a populist.

neat

PULLO!

>consul
>not CONSOLE

(that guy)

you're right...or have the big events in the background while Pullo and Vorenous do everyday Roman things.

It's too bad that they fucked up so bad with Octavian. Antony was the best part of the show. Also too much of Pollo and Vorenus,

I wonder how far Octavian and Joffrey would have gotten in a conversation before one of them tried to have the other killed?

...

What do you mean, Agrippa ? How did he turn him into a cuck ?

GET

rome was too good, now i just miss watching new episodes of it.

Yeah. Rome wasn't bad. GoT is just a gay British soap opera.

------ Hey we're gonna spend a full season marching two the capital, fighting major battles along the way.

Cool. Gonna show any of the battles?

No! lol -------

Finally showed a little fighting last year and used the gayest cheapest trick by having fag under a pile of bodies so they didn't have to pay for the production of a battle scene.

Rome was pretty bad in this regard as well, but you didn't have to listen to retarded children talk about it like it's not the worst thing on TV everyday for years. And it was just better all around.

Game of Cliches.
