i've tripped quite a fucking lot. the experience is difficult, at least for me, to explain in words.
first and foremost, don't be alone your first time. have someone that's been in the trenches before. be aware of set and setting. if you're in a low mood, hold off until you feel better. be sure to be comfortable and at a comfortable place. don't be scared when you first take it, as bad trips come from being worried or not prepared for the surge of feelings that will come. it takes about an hour or so for the drug to kick in, so if you're thirty minutes in and not feeling much don't think you've been ripped off. it'll last about seven to eight hours, so once you take it buckle in.
the trip is a stream of consciousness. the shit i'm describing happens in no particular order. your mind will go at a mile a minute. your inner monologue will go on and on, about the most trivial things to a general feeling of being one with the world around you. you'll feel as though your conscious is expanding, that you're not just you, but a collective consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. you'll laugh for half an hour at dirt, your body will feel somewhat cold and somewhat like electric concrete. you can experience two contrasting emotions simultaneously. you won't really stay still for long, you'll be up, moving around, fucking around with stuff. try to have some dope with you, smoking pot while tripping can kinda calm you down.

visually, patterns will swirl and move around. lights will dim and brighten, and things may look as though they change in size. though i personally have not seen things that are not there, a friend of mine went upstairs by himself and when i checked on him five minutes later he was on a mattress, clutching to a pillow, telling me tingle from the legend of zelda tickled him.
