It's still the fastest and most reliable source of local information where I live.
I fucking love teletext.

>literally no context
Do you think the fucking millennials know what this is?

I miss it desu

if you are on Sup Forums, yor are almost 100% a millennial, dumbo

What fucking shithole must you live in?

Exactly I had to look up that bullshit just to be able to shitpost.

please post a view from your window. I want to see where you live.

Wow that brought back memories. I still remember the four colour button on the remote leads to different news catergories

Well, im 25 and i remember using teletext as a kid a lot, so maybe its just you

Call me a hipster if you want but I always preferred Ceefax.

Switzerland.

>out shopping on a saturday
>always a crowd of people around the teletext TV showing the football scores

Teletext was pretty damn revolutionary though, you got instant updates to news and events that you simply never got in the days before you were able to get on to the net.

I remember first reading about the Dreamcast on Digitiser when it was announced.

Bamboozle was the shit.

Was teletext just an euro thing?

Yes

...

aw that's cool, I wish we had that here. By the way I'm a girl.

>spending hours trying to find test pages and other weird stuff

>tfw playing Bamboozle and reading Turner the Worm on a Saturday morning

>tfw you find out the lewd pages

Apparently there is a whole scene of teletext nerds. Fascinating.

>that time you came close to solving a murder mystery on teletext
I swear there were clues everywhere

I am surprised a yuro country still has it. I know the UK and France switched theirs off years ago.

tfw they pulled they pulled the plug on it a few years ago.

I remember it taking nearly an hour to find score updates
Teletext was so shit

digitser was the best

turner the worm, oh man

>press reveal

The fuck is teletext, I'm 32 and never heard of it

>not being a poweruser
>not using your tv to it's full potential
fuck off you filthy pleb

You are a hipster

I collect Teletext caps messages

...

Stay away from my bins!

Are you serious?

It was pretty popular in Europe and was basically the internet before internet got popular.

...

what the fuck

Finland here, our backwoods country still uses teletext, as do i, daily

...

>You will never play Bamboozled again

That is pretty funny shit

nearly all tvs had it through the 90s up until they stopped terrestrial signals

kinda like a BBS system without being able to post

>tfw coming home early in the morning and teletext is on with that comfy music

>music
What? Teletext never had music

Millenial trying to fit in

No? At least in Poland teletext had no music.

>younger millenials calling millenials millenials

some channels that didn't have shows running 24/7 would just put teletext on screen in the early hours slowly flipping through the pages with music in the background.

you are remembering bbc2

It was just a teletext screen being broad-cast when they were not showing anything

...

mr.t was britain's foremost game reviewer and agony aunt in the 90s.

So a European thing, I'm in the US and I assume we never had it

WISH WE COULD TURN BACK TIME

TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS

I am sure someone wrote about the tomb raider nude cheat on this and you just exploded

Full story please

I love how the old game charts were dominated by kids games

I used to read teletext game reviews.

Looking back on it's a really strange thing, who the fuck was writing and updating teletext pages?

Teletext employed a couple of guys in the Teletext offices for the different sections like music and film

The music pages were pretty kino

>Ceefax
That really takes me back, also when you were told to hit record on your VHS when shows like 'how' would flash some information on screen

Infotainmentkino

If Teletext is kino, are test cards kino as well?

kino is literally a reddit meme

Here in Italy is still on, people use it mostly for football scores, weather reports and movie theaters. Some people like my brother are totally gay about it.
I haven't been using it for years... It reminds me of my grandma

Sick graphic

last time I checked they had upgraded the local one here in Ireland to a more digital/flashy one but it was crap and every page took over a minute to load, if it loaded at all. that was a few yrs ago though so they might have scrapped it altogether since. don't watch terrestrial TV anymore so idk what its status is

I still check the local headlines on the online version though just out of habit. I kind of like the brief text-only aspect 2bh

only when Frank Sidebottom did them, goodnight sweet prince.

>this was the inspiration for the film Frank
Well I feel foolish for not knowing.

You lose

I remember being like 10 and watching TV with my dad when he suddenly pulled up the teletext to get news and the tv program. it absolutely blew my mind, but I never could wrap my head around how to navigate it.

The finnish government TV's teletext shows teletext art

It was very useful for showing scores in football in different leagues at one time,

You could easily follow Spanish, Italian, German and English leagues and gamble like crazy.

Good times idd

>tfw Yewtree got him

still reckon it was a stitch up but it does make me wonder how he was allowed to work with kids for so long

Loved that as a student. Shit, I hadn't thought about it in years til now.

I feel you bro

as you should

>That farewell message from just before it was switched off permanently.

i think most Sup Forumstards are technically gen z since they're 15 and under

Of course, look at those aesthetics
