Just watched the "Master Trilogy" (Traken/Logopolis/Castrovalva)
Traken was alright, Nyssa's reaction to what happened to her father was very understated, though. Logopolis was great, but suffered from the same problem of Nyssa and Tegan just kind of accepting what is going on too readily and playing along with it. Despite growing tired of The Tom Baker Show during the Williams era, he really redeemed himself in his final season and i was sad to see him go. His understated performance of a man coming to grips with his mortality was very sombre and well done.
The "the universe is ending and an alliance must be made" stuff was all incredible and you really felt the hopelessness of it all.
Tom was right in refusing to scream as he fell.
I like Adric. I like Nyssa and Tegan. I don't like Anthony Ainley.
Castrovalva was a fun romp with some interesting concepts and nice dialogue. You really warm to Davison over the course of the season. I can imagine people in the 80s not noticing the Master's disguise as immediately as I did.
So, how long until JNT runs the show into the ground? I know Warriors of the Deep is soon.

Even though Earthshock is loved, it foreshadows all the shit JNT and Saward would do later (re-introducing monsters that haven't shown up for years, more focus on action at the expense of a compelling plot, guest stars who show up in roles that don't fit them at all).
