don't think this guy read the book, one of the most interesting aspects is its interrogation of feminism - the handmaid's tale is a world where women are ruled by men and yet the safest they have ever been, a world where women repress other women more than any man does.

I fucking hate people who describe the book as 'timely' and 'frighteningly real'.
If someone tried to implement the system they have in real life, there would be a revolution in weeks by men denied access to pussy. Societies which restrict men's access to women inevitably fall because keeping low status men have no investment in society and no self interest in preserving it. This isn't a slight against the book itself because it's not meant to be a realistic portrait of a dystopia but rather a character study where you aren't meant to take the actual setting particularly seriously.
