You're right
It's good movie but very overrated. Inb4 muh strong female role

Is event horizon really better then alien??

>this thread

baka desu senpai

For me, it is way better but most of Sup Forums thinks it's the best space/ayy lmao movie ever.
*than

I really like Europa Report but it's a mixed reaction at best on here. Blackhole the Disney movie is weirdly entertaining if you can get past the dated effects. Watch it late at night. Maybe even chuck Lost in Space on there?

1. Alien
2. 2001 a space oddysey
3. Star wars IV
4. Interstellar
5. Star wars V
6. Prometheus
7. Rogue one
8. 2010
9. Aliens
10. Star wars VI

I love Event Horizon but it takes some stuff from Alien you have to admit

>starshit in 4 spots

LIFE was good but that's about it

Haven't seen event horizon, pandorum, moon and life yet. That would probably change things.

Yes watch them you'll gonna enjoy it. This is no trolling like watch 'it follows it's a great movie'

Thanks. Also i've seen It Follows and I dont know whats so great about it lol

I love you for putting Soderburgh's Solaris on there but EH and Pandorum are as far from kino as you can get, as entertaining as they may be.

1) 2001
2) Alien
3) The Empire Strikes Back
---kino line---
4) Solaris (2002)
5) Contact
6) The Fifth Element
7) A New Hope
8) The American Astronaut
9) 2010
10) Love (2011)

Patrician taste.

1. Aliens

4. Avatar
5. Star Wars Return of the jedi
6. 2001: a space odyssey
7. Interstellar
8. Alien
9. Armageddon
10. Prometheus

Havent seen Life or Solaris yet.
You actually liked Pandorum? The first act was absolutely incredible but the rest of the movie was a letdown.

1- Solaris (1972)
2- 2001: a space odyssey
3- Alien
4- World of tomorrow
5- Wall-E
6- The martian
7- A grand day out
8- Moon
9- Empire strikes back
10- Interstellar

>life
>above 2001
Nice meme

>no one in this thread appears to give a fuck about Solaris (1972)

As a Tarkovsky fan, I sure as hell am glad, it's by far his shittiest film and it pains me to see how it's also his most well known. If we were talking about sci-fi kino in general then Stalker would certainly be amongst the top 3, but if it's spacekino then the lead has to inevitably go to 2001. It's literally the Odyssey of modern cinema.

>The Thing
>space

Stalker is definitely the superior Tarkovsky, but didn't list it because the film version is 99% ambiguous about extraterrestrials, IIRC. Solaris was very good though, I was just incredibly analytical and distant. I find Soderbergh did a better job creating atmosphere and involving the viewer on an emotional/visceral level.

At a glance it looks like Lawrence Fishburne's head has been put on a snake

- 2001: A Space Odyssey
- Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (the entire saga comes in this spot though really)
- Solaris (1972)
- Alien
- Aliens
- Prometheus
- Moon
- Interstellar
- Le Voyage dans la Lune
- Gravity

1. Starship Troopers
2. Event Horizon
3. Space Odyssey 2001
4. Solaris (1972)
5. Pandorum
6. Dune
7. Darwin IV
8. Space Odyssey 2010
9. Prometheus
10. Europa Report

>no Contact
wtf

>starving for some space kino
>tfw seen everything mentioned ITT already

Have none of you plebs even seen sunshine?

Op did and I. The movie is a solid 7/10 but I've seen Sup Forums talking about it

Is this film good? I always heard ppl joking about it
Pitch black?

I hate to break it to you but Sunshine is basically sci-fi capeshit.

It's shit

1. Alien
2. Event Horizon
3. 2001 A space odyssey
4. Galaxy quest
5. Moon
6. The Fifth Element
7. Starship Troopers
8. Lexx
9. Star trek TNG
10. Red dwarf

10/10

>Pitch black?

Seen it. But I might go replay Assault on Dark Athena. That game was all right.

You got it right, anyone who confronts you should be permanently banned from Sup Forums.

critters 4 .. not kino but WAY better than you think

1. The opening cutscene of the first halo
2. anything else

1.Interstellar
2.Sunshine
GAP
3.Moon
4.Contact
5.Aliens
6.Paul
7.Event Horizon
8.Thor
9.Guardians of the galaxy
10.The Martian

kino choices

no. It's still good though

No

not a single mention of
Infini
Galaxy Quest
or Cargo
fucking casuals

The unedited version is for sure

Pandorum
Dante

I really don't understand the love for event horizon. It's a 6/10 at best. CGI sucks pretty hard, fishburnes chair is hilarious cheap and stupid. I mean it's fun in a schlocky crap kind of a way but to put it at number 1, why?

I liked it, it's way better then event horizon.

It's pretty decent, even great but the end completely fucks it all up. There's no recovery possible after space dad shows up.

Replace Interstellar with The Fifth Element, shift to the number 2 spot, and we're good.

looks like doom3

Not a single mention of Serenity? Really? Firefly + Serenity are about as spacekino as you're gonna get

Serenity was awful. They made an entire movie centered around the worst character with the most boring story arc.

I mean I'm happy we got a movie, but it was really disappointing.

Is this bait or are you a mega pleb?

They were probably just trying to provide some closure on the series, would've been much better if they adapted the plot as a two part season finale

Silent Running is pretty great, IMO.

What about event horizon?

watched event horizon in theater with my grandma. what a trip that was.

youtu.be/SzgMKCKz1nI

1. Event Horizon. Sorry Kubrick, not even a contest.
2. 2001
3. Alien
4. Apollo 13
5. The Martian
6. Serenity
7. Moon
8. Gravity
9. Sunshine
10. Interstellar

Dark Star by John Carpenter walks the kino/comfy line

youtube.com/watch?v=ZyUVhuOWPuY

It's awful. AWFUL. I honestly wasn't sure if I had been baited when I finally got around to watching it after seeing so many Sup Forums recommendations

The worst thing about it is it's not funny-bad, or something so disastrous there is a morbid curiosity in seeing it. It's just bland-bad, a waste of time. A hodgepodge of successful sci-fi horror concepts that elides their strong points and leaves only a mess of formulaic drivel.

Best list ITT

first watched event horizon the other week and had no idea it was a horror, thought it was going to be some space adventure flick

genuinely enjoyed it so much

>Apollo 13
isn't this the rocket that exploted a few seconds after start? Whats this movie about? Just an ultra slow exploition scene

It was shit. It was just shit.

I am legitimately confused. Don't visit this board much, but I assume Event Horizon has been memed. That movie is shit. Maybe slightly better than Sunshine. I like scifi so I still find both movies entertaining and even well made. But Event Horizon is about as kino as any shitty blockbuster horror movie with a decent director.

>A hodgepodge of successful sci-fi horror concepts that elides their strong points and leaves only a mess of formulaic drive

This

you literally just have to type 9 characters into google to find out.

Aye. It has some cool horror themes and starts fairly well but it descends into some very stupid horror schlock. Crew members start carrying the idiot ball in 2nd half.

Agreed 6/10 ... which still means that I like it but not top 10 quality by a few yards.

Bleary tree huger slog. Boring.

>oh noes evil-corp wants to kill trees

>you literally just have to type 9 characters into google to find out.

No wonder you can't make friends, you fucking moron. People come here to TALK TOGETHER, not just to get info. His question allows for BOTH info and social contact. Are you fucking DENSE, you piece of shit?

>Cargo

I enjoyed this

does fifth element count?

1. Aliens
2. Star Wars V
3. Star Wars IV
4. 2001
5. Alien
6. Star Trek 2 Wrath of Khan
7. Space Cruiser Yamato
8. Moon
9. Apollo 13
10. Starship Troopers

literally this

> Solaris 2002

Confirmed plebs

Of course it's not "kino", It's raw scifi horror and if you want your "kino" then you are in a luck because all you will be getting from now on is more pretentious pseudointellectual shit like interstellar and arrival.
If you were actually into scifi you'd know you can count all good movies on your fingers.

11. The Right Stuff
12. Serenity
13. Galaxy Quest
14. 2010
15. Gravity
16. Wall-E
17. 5th Element

>moon crabs

Never new there were one from '72 untill I watched it

Idk if its a meme on Sup Forums or not to say Event Horizon is good, but it was fucking bad when i watched it. Worst space movie ive seen.

definitely not.

the premise, build-up and production design are all really fucking great. i love the first 20 minutes of the film.

that said, the story just gets convoluted as fuck in the end, shitty character exposition and cheap jump-scares seals the deal. it could have been so much more if it skipped the whole "philosophical" hell bullshit, and just went with a traditional space monster

we throw the term around a lot, but

anyone with Pandorum in their top 25 should kill themselves

Sunshine, Alien, Moon, Event Horizon, Interstellar in any fuckin order you want

anddd you just exposed your filteredness

This thread is Reddit garbage

>filteredness

what does this even mean? i just didn't like the movie very much, friend

why does nobody mention that nazi moon meme kino

event horizon is pretty meh
awful ending

Europa Report is underrated. That's one good flick that's not mentioned much here.

Prometheus is patrician but most of you plebs don't understand the movie

brb poking space snakes
>scientis

le kinoo xxddd

^_^

Amazing how fast kino posting got phased out. Gotta stay ahead of those redditors.
