Fixed my dad's bike and went riding today for the first time. Almost crashed in the middle of the road when i wanted to cross, my legs now feel like pudding. Could barely get up the steps when i was back home. Feels bad being so out of shape

Wanted to do 120 through blessed nature, but ended up doing 70 because I used my only spare tube with the flat and got very cold by standing still.

It sucked because I felt strong as fuck towards the end of the ride so I dont feel satisfied, such a shame about that flat.

Does a proper, lightweight road bike really make much of a difference for how fast you can ride or should I just focus on losing weight first? I've been looking at getting a cyclocross bike so I can use it on gravel and forest trails as well as on the road.

Yes a roadbike makes a massive difference, but its more about aerodynamics than about weight. You are sitting much lower on a roadbike.

I do 20kph commuting to work on a hybrid. On my road bike I do 30 quite easily. Of course losing weight and consistent training would also help too

Is there really much of a difference between a cyclocross and road bike in terms of aero and geometry? To me it seems like the tires and frame are quite similar.
