>>MAKE AMERICA METRIC AGAIN
>implying it isn't.
Also, Federal law defines all US Customary units using SI so it's a moot point.

Are the europoors mad because they're too dumb to work with fractions again?

Fuck the kike metric system.

They put a man on the moon with that arbitrary retarded rollercoaster so it can't be that bad.

did they now hehe. silly boy :p

I'd say fahrenheit is better than celcius because 0 is really cold to humans and 100 is really hot to humans. Who gives a shit about water?

>rollercoaster of awesome
>menorah

>inb4 somebody posts the pic where the left chard is a big middle finger and the right one a menorah. That´s not how it works

base 12 > base 10
If the metric system was so great people would use it without the government forcing them to

>brb, lmao

then why does your government bodies, military, nasa etc use the metric system?

We don't? Do you buy gas or milk in liters? Are the road signs in kilometers there? Does the local television station give you the day's temperature in Celsius? Is football in meters or yards, baseball pitches in mph or kph, etc.? Does your driver's license list your height in feet/inches and weight in pounds or in cm and kg? Do you say cup of sugar, or 200 grams?

I pretty much never see the metric system used outside shit like grams on medicine and nutrition facts, and two-liter bottles of soda (which weirdly contrast with the 20-ounce bottles of soda).

Typical retarded German doesn't know how to greentext.

All of the metric system's measurements are equal. Because equality and diversity is great. #globalism

>without the government forcing them to

Only way I can see it happening is if everything is labeled with both units. Then the next generation needs to be taught exclusively metric in schools.

Personally, I'm all for the idea. It's much easier. But people tend to try to cover up their ignorance (or laziness) with patriotism, so it'll be difficult to get traction.

To be honest, if a presidential candidate made part of their platform to phase out the imperial system for the metric system, I would probably vote for them just for that.

I do a lot of CAD, and I really like the metric system, but these fucking Normie, babyboomer professors of mine make me use inches.

>all measures equal
>diversity

it is your system that is blacked

I'll type it again: SI is the basis for the US customary system.

see this: ngs.noaa.gov/PUBS_LIB/FedRegister/FRdoc59-5442.pdf

Engineering classes are horrible. It's all a bunch of old people trying to get you to use retarded units like "slugs" when you've been happily using metric in your physics classes until then.

fuck off commie. Imperial measurements are better for visualisation

Obviously not in the manufacturing industry. You would have to retool every single factory across the entire US to accomplish this goal. It's easy for an irrelevant country such as Poland to criticize us, but we still manufacture 90% of the worlds production.

It'll happen eventually, but the biggest issue is way too much shit was created using the older non-SI systems, and converting it all over is a greater PITA than what we'd gain from switching over to metric.

It doesn't help that once you learn one set of units, you're kind of stuck with that one for life. Like I can tell you 37 C is hot, but in my mind it's only because I know 37c = human body temp = 98.6F

>not using acre feet.

This is ripped straight from the NASA website.

They have a unit called "OZ".
You can't compete.

>Argentina calling others niggers

Actually imperial units are practical and logical which is why they came about in the first place.

Foot: the length of a man's foot
Metre: the distance light travels in vacuum in 1/299752458 of a second (lulwut)

Actually, there are two ozs: dry (weight) and wet (volume).

Oh right, I forgot everyone had the same size feet.

I had a physics teacher that loved using slugs and rankine for some reason

Id be fine with switching to the metric system, it would just take time to get used to how I measure things. I know how much a foot is, and I'm comfortable saying how long, wide, high, etc. something is, or how many pounds it is. Getting used to something new would be annoying.

>It would cost billions to change all the standards
>Takes 0.2 seconds to convert to metric anyways

Every fucking thread

The UK used to use imperial before the froggus forced metric on us. It's been scientifically proven that nonlinear scaling is better, because it stops each factor of units blending into each other so the brain can comprehend maths with higher numbers. Plus imperial measurements are based on cultural standards instead of arbitrary scales so our brain can intuitively recognise them.

...

>I had a physics teacher that loved using slugs and rankine for some reason
It forces you to reconsider the concepts instead of going through the motions.

Whitest man in Niggertina

The imperial system just shouts LIBERTY !!
the metric system shouts communist equality socialism bs

/thread

meh, in canada we usually have both since we're officially metric but so much equiment is imperial nbecause it comes from south of the border.
It's not the end of the world. You get used to it. It some cases its a positive since you can use the one that suites your situation the best.

>HA HA AMERICA IS SO DUMB
>America has the biggest economy, largest number of professional scientists, best universities, and most successful country in the history of the world

Stay jealous, losers.

>we still manufacture 90% of the worlds production
sure you do, johnny!

Inch= about the distance between knuckles on your thumb
Foot= about the length of a foot
Yard= about a full stride
Mile= Has 46 whole number factors so you can always get a whole number

cm= arbitrary French unit
m= arbitrary French unit
km= arbitrary French unit

>le retarded "moon landing was a hoax" meme

*sigh*

I refuse to believe this is a real person

The imperial system is much more beautiful. It reminds me copper and brass, 19th century life, old white men in suits with high hats, locomotives, titanic's and zeppelins

>metric
>arbitrary

They're not arbitrary, they're just so abstract that they might as well be arbitrary.
Celsius is another one. Water freezing and boiling does not affect how I use temperature on a day to day basis. No accuracy with Celsius. A very uncomfortable and a very comfortable day are just a few degrees apart. Dumb.

>it's not arbitrary if we pick this rod and lock it in a vault

This. Metric units are chosen to scale nicely from atomic level upwards.

The meter is derived from a light year.

Like I said, not arbitrary, just ridiculously abstract.

Metric system = GLOBALIST

Don't give away your culture ! remind

Kelvin and Rankine are the only defensible units of temperature.

Inch = 3 barley malt lengthwise
Foot = 12 inch
Yard = 3 foot
Chain = 22 yards
Furlong = 10 chains
Mile = 8 furlong

Don't come telling me the metric system is retarded

Whose feet are they using for measurements? Doubt it would be their own since they're all fat as fuck

But why? Why do I need to scale from absolute zero?

>metric
>not arbitrary

They're both arbitrary systems.

What is the length of a centimeter based upon? Why go by multiples of 10? Why not 2? Why not 5?

etc. etc.

The main argument people have for metric is an appeal to aesthetics, really.

You mean you aren't familiar enough with the temperature of boiling water on the human body?

I do think we whould use meters though

>using the globalist jew system
no thanks

Why do you need to scale it to boiling water?

Why do you need to scale it to an amalgamated combination of the temperature of brine and a bad approximation of the temperature of a human being?

>No accuracy with Celsius.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_number
amerifats can't into algebra

And if anyone ise wondering then

1 pound = weight of 7000 grains (barley seeds)
1 gallon = 10 pounds of water at 17°C

>Building a rocket that burns 20 tonnes of fuel a second to produce 7.5 million pounds of thrust to be used for a quick jolly round the Earth.

A centimeter is 1/100th of a meter, which is related to light years in a way in can't be bothered to look up.
They use 10 because we use a base 10 system, so 10 is what moves you to the next decimal place.

It's a rational system that's very unintuitive, I feel.

Because 0-100F represents what I can expect from the weather on 330+ days of the year.
There's no nuance with Celsius.
I don't have to read a Wikipedia article to have experienced that Celsius doesn't tell you what kind if light jacket you need on a chilly day.

>memeing this hard

>meter derived from light year
not sure if troll or retarded enough to fall for leaf's shitpost

>Why go by multiples of 10
Why don't you do math in base-16 numbers ?

>penis

>the weather is the only use of temperature

kek saved

You're not particularly clever or knowledgeable, are you?

The weather is the most common use of temperature.

>the metric system is evil
>I don't know why, it just is because we don't use it

>says Americans can't do algebra
>can't understand fractions

two can play that game

>Because 0-100F represents what I can expect from the weather on 330+ days of the year.
What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

>he thinks it's where the meter comes from and not how it can be defined in non-arbitrary system.
bravo, retard.

Define "most common".

In a factory, for instance, workers keep an eye on temperature of equipment constantly. I guarantee they check it more often than you check the outside temperature, and that's just one example off the top of my head. So maybe temperature should be scaled so that the operating range of industrial equipment is on a scale from 0-100. Oh, wait, that's fucking retarded.

Come back when you've put a flag on the moon.

>Yuropoors adopt a French measurement system
>Surprised the only thing they can do with it is measure Jamal's BBC

Call me when you're on metric time, faggots.

in either case, F gives more accuracy than C. it's just a more precipice system

>no fractions mentioned
>say someone can't into fractions
schizophrenia: level hard

>F gives more accuracy than C
In what way? There's a linear relationship between the two numbers. One isn't more correct than the other, it's just easier to understand because it's what you were raised with.

>1/299792458 is not a fraction
Pollack Level: Maximum

Pinnacle of human achievement right there.

>he still doesn't understand that meter doesn't come from a light year
american education system, everyone!

I understand fully that the meter doesn't come from a light year, dipshit. They didn't even know what the speed of light was when the original meter was defined.

However, they have redefined it over the years to affix it to standard units. Just as the second is completely arbitrary, it's now been affixed to a count of hyperfine Caesium atom state transitions.

>US measurements not arbitrary
>they used a meter bar to define their own measurements
I know it's national pride and shit but it's really nice when you go to other parts of the world and when you say your dick is 17 cms long the bitches understand what you mean.

And our company recently got a us customer. The shit I have been gone through until we converted every fucking measurement into metric so that our suppliers can provide us with raw materials.

>Why go by multiples of 10? Why not 2? Why not 5?
You have ten fingers. People have been using decimal systems since an eternity, because guess what: TEN FINGERS. So humans ususally think in the decimal system.

Except in programming, but that has other reasons.

oh, good! americunt has finally understand. too bad your boyfriend here didn't know

>Americunt has finally understood

A hell of a lot better than you do, but then not every country is Polacking in intellect like yours.

Why not both?

>a lot better
>the whole thread proves otherwise

sure, nigger. and now write another 100 shitposts with the word "polack". because you know, as a jew, i feel so fucking attached to that shithole country.

So it's only defined in terms of an SI unit?

Metrics, yes. But don't get me fucking started on the dates. DD/MM/YY is completely fucking retarded. MM/DD/YY isn't right either but it's slightly better. It should be YY/MM/DD. The values should be expressed in left-to-right order of significance like literally everything else that has ever been expressed by mankind.

It's like expressing 4:30am as 30:04
Or two dollars and 50 cents as $50.2
Or the runtime of a film as 33 sec 5 min 2 hour
Or a decimal twelve as 21

yy-mm-dd is also being used. especially when it comes to computers. that's the only way of sorting dates properly.

...

The Federal Governemnt has used the metric system since 1972

Kek

are you saying that Myanmar and Liberia landed on the moon?
americunts really are retarded.

Italy is the only country on the planet that uses Celsius and it is a poor shithole.
