Jesus Fucking Christ Fargo 2

I started watching this show while I was waiting for the 8th episode of The Americans. I'm a big fan of the movie Fargo but I ignored the good reviews and avoided the show because It seemed a bit unecessary. I finished season 1 in a week, it was interesting and respectful of the original material, I waited a few days and started season 2 and... Jesus fucking christ is top 5 season of television I ever watched. I finished the thing in less than 2 days. Name something wrong with it: You can't

Season 1 is much better, though.

Hanzee being Tripoli was retarded.

Only weakspot was that contrived effort to tie the series to season 1 with Hanzee getting magical plastic surgery and becoming the Fargo mob boss. He should have either died or rode off into the sunset. Like, it doesn't even add anything to the universe and it's just plain awkward writing.

Other than that it's just as good, if not better than S1.

>whatcha say?

season 1 is like edgy fan fiction by a 17 year old

season 2 is much, much better

DUDE ALIENS LMAO

I agree that was pretty retarded.Still I highly doubt that they will find a way to top this season

Season 2 is excellent
Season 1 is god tier

I genuinely thought season 2 was the edgier one (I still preferred it like you though). I was impressed with season 1's protagonists just being genuinely decent individuals (to a point where it's almost innocent)

>because It seemed a bit unecessary.

but... all TV is unnecessary, I don't really get this complaint. It's entertainment

>blocks your path

YEEAAHHH

aliens
everything else was pure kino

kill yourself

I didn't like the 2deep4you alien shit either. It was a really good crime/gangster mini-series though

>aliens
First of all I really hope you didn't take that literally.
Second, I thought it was perfectly executed in how ridiculously retarded and fitting it was as a storytelling tool.

To compare it with Thornton's character, which was just plain retarded and almost ruined the season.

But the main reason why 2 >1 is that 1 is too similar to the film.
The film is already pretty much perfect, so trying to emulate it so drastically made the season feel sloppy.
Season 2 had a lot more attitude since it didn't pretend to be something it wasn't. It had more attitude while still keeping the overall feel of the setting.

Fucking glorious

aliens were perfectly executed and make sense in the thematic context of the season if you think about it for more than 3 seconds

i mean for shit's sake, the entire last episode basically drops it into your lap

>Jesus fucking christ is top 5 season of television I ever watched.

what it adds is that we know indeed that his own empire later falls in brutal fashion

S3 is even better.

great scene, but what always bothered me was why the KC guy at the end didnt just shoot hanzee

>But the main reason why 2 >1 is that 1 is too similar to the film.
Yeah, exactly. The second season has a more strong and unique identity where the first season feels like a remix of the movie. That s the reason why I avoided the series: A remix was really not that necessary while the movie was already perfect.
Name a more perfect, peculiar, tight season that this. Not saying that fargo is the best show ever but the season is without a doubt one of the GOAT. It's a matter of personal taste too
>The Wire season 4
>The Shield season 7
>The Sopranos final 9
>Deadwood season 2
>Fargo season 2
>Honorable mention season 6 of justified
Half of my favorites shows aren't even on this list they are better shows but they don't have a perfect season

Really has the potential, for me the important part is that they try to do something different if they do that this show has the potential to be one of the best ever

>rome
>the night of
>true detective season 1

that's just a few
fargo is the epitome of leddit tier, my friend.

TD is worse, I haven't seen rome so can't tell there, miniseries doesn't count.

>leddit
Stop.

>>true detective season 1
>Fargo is reddit
True Detective is the epitome of the /r/iamverysmart show. Fuck off. Plus they fucked up so bad with the last episodes

True detective season 1 was trash

>I haven't seen rome
>expects to be taken serious
kek

DUDE UFOS LMAO

I might be a neet looser, but you can't expect me to have seen every single show.

>rome
>miniseries
>two seasons
>the second is trash

>but you can't expect me to have seen every single show.
i expect you to watch the good ones before claiming a plebeshit show is one of the goats

>he can't read
he was ranking seasons of tv shows, nig***.
try to keep up.

>nig***
Is this bait?

I really like how they're not just doing the same thing every season. S3 is obviously the slowest and most initmate one so it's hard to judge early. It could be the best one after the season is over.

This turned a 10/10 all the way down to a 9.5, it was just too dumb.

I love the last conversation between Lou and Peggy in the car. You can see exactly how Lou went about raising Molly after seeing what a loon the resentment of gender roles turned Peggy into. Peggy taking the birth control when Ed thought she wanted a baby was so fucked up.

Rome is fucking trash plus the guy you are responding at is not the one who ranked the seasons. Rome it's popular here because is not popular enough to be called a pleb show. Plus Sup Forums talking about pleb and patrician is just a fuking joke, litteraly the worst board on this site

you're welcome to return to leddit, crossposting numale turbopleb.

Season 2 is awesome
Season 1 is Ace

true kino

...

>vlc
pleb show confirmed

...

now watch Utopia, its similar

...

Season 1 was a solid distillation of the film. I think people expected more of the same out of 2, and hoped for more of the same out of 3.
Rewatching season 1 ep 1 after s3 ep3 last night I forgot how it hit the ground running and leaves you wanting more.

>hit the ground running
SOMEBODY

True Detective Season 1>Fargo Season 1>Mad Men season 1-4>Fargo Season 2>Mad Men season 5-7>True Detective Season 2>everything else, don't give me none of that guinea trash Sopranos crap.

Reminder that shills are trying to keep the Emperor's New Clothes from disappearing because Hawley's hackery is currently being laid bare for those who couldn't pick up on it before so they're trying to keep the focus on the previous seasons. Even though they're just as bad.

Was it the autism?

Not even close. Any given scene of Utopia has more substance than the entirety of Fargo's three seasons.

>utopia
>never heard of it (already a bad sign)
>look it up
>first pic to pop up
>UK show
in the trash it goes

Is it better than Hannibal? Because I seriously fucking doubt it.

Exactly the type of response I'd expect from someone who can't recognize Fargo for the complete dogshit that it is.

>Is it better than my faggy murder porn show that got cancelled because normies don't give a shit about artistic navel gazing?

>he thinks i like fargo
i'm the one that's been saying it's shit from the start, britcuck.

Utopia is great, capeshitter

Lmao. Utopia was garbage most of the time, pretty much all the time after the first series in fact.

It was way inferior to 2

>thinks i like capeshit
kek, keep going britpleb

At least it never had a disgusting looking animation sequence that felt like a middle schooler's writing assignment.

yes. he even had a piss jar

Depends. They are a bit too different to compare, except how they both are very visual shows.
Fargo s2 is without a doubt better than Hannibal S1&3, tho. But if it's better than Hannibal S2 I think is more up to the individual.

that's where you're wrong kiddo, season 1 didn't even get good until half way through, before then it was on the level of mr robot or hannibal or something.

>Season 1 was a solid distillation of the film
But it wasn't. The biggest strength of the film was how incredibly grounded it was. The opening spiel about it being a true story is so effective because the movie feels real. None of it feels exaggerated or condensed to fit a narrative.

The show doesn't do this. It's very much a thriller, the characters are all more exaggerated, and Malvo in particular is essentially magic.

Season 1 is closer to the movie than Season 2 yes, but it still doesn't distill the film. It makes very very big tonal changes. That's part of why I prefer Season 2, it wasn't trying to be like the film, it knew what it wanted to be and was that.

Season 1 does have the best first episode out of all three seasons, but if I'm perfectly honest that almost hurt the season for me, that was also the best episode of the season, and it rarely lived up to the compelling tension of that episode.

I don't know how you can be so right about season one and not see that season two is just more of the same inane bullshit.

name 1 (ONE) thing wrong with VLC

That may all be true but it was damn good navel gazing.
In that case I know what I'm going to watch this weekend.

what do you think is good?

fact: you will not answer this question, confirming your status as a cuck

>In that case I know what I'm going to watch this weekend.
Have fun
Have you seen the film? Watch it first. And if you happen to have shitty taste and don't like the film, you can skip the show. The tone and humour is very similar through all of it.

>implying he's not gonna take anything i pick and pretend to not like it so he doesn't admit i'm patrician
lol, nice try leddit

It's popular.

Seeing how you have Patrician taste that season 2 > season 1. How good is The Americans based on non-premium tv standards?

Not OP and I've only watched a couple of seasons. But I thought it was really good. Not the greatest show ever, but a very solid show with good characters that has lots of depth to them.
Easily worth a watch.

Watched S1 ep1 with a friend and laughed suspiciously hard at that scene. I don't think he caught on though.

why that native american do all that bad stuff?

Op here.
Fucking good. It's my favorite show on tv right now. But it's really not for everyone, is slow, bleak and really really subtle most of the time. If you get hooked it will not dissapoint you.
>How good is The Americans based on non-premium tv standards?
It's the missing link between non premium and premium.
Give it a try, just remember: First season is not indicative of what the show will become one season later.

yeah and that was unnecessary

Season 2 of Fargo is so fucking good, probably my favorite single season of TV ever.

I agree. Easily one of my favorite things to ever air on tv.

>a 30-second clip of Billy Bob gunning down an office

wow I was so invested in that subplot I'm so glad they explained the whole backstory

couldn't that be just a strawman or something? i dont remember any direct connection to it, only Wrench and Numbers

the only good thing about season 1 was billy bob. everyone else was terrible. martin freeman can't act worth a shit and he plays the same character in everything, the fat cop woman was extremely annoying, and colin hanks is even more annoying than the fat cop.

I see someone say this every thread but never expands on it besides 2smart4you sass. Same with the Reagan stuff, it was very awkward at best

>an overrated show with a fucked up finals better than shows with flawless seasons

let me tell two
>screenshot not named by the played movie
>oversized control bar

Now my memory is very fuzzy regarding the details:

The entire season is a recollection of the events as told by the main cop. The aliens are a tool used by him to explain things he doesn't have an answer to (like why the dude stood in the middle of the road and got killed by the couple, or what happened during the final shoot-out). He probably got the idea from the father in law (or was it his dad? Old dude who made up some alien language for fun) and all "UFO sightings" that happened in Minnesota during the 70's.

I've never heard that one before. Was there even was a framing device to set up any unreliable narrator? How does that explain what we are shown outside Lou's pov?

Now I really don't remember enough to be able to keep up any proper discussion regarding this.
But things shown outside Lou's POV could be explained by someone else telling him about it, and him filling in the gaps with "lol aliens".
And I'm really not sure regarding the unreliable narrator part. It's nothing I recall, but I might have missed it early on.

>The entire season is a recollection of the events as told by the main cop
Nope. There's no indication of this and a lot of shit happens that Lou has no way of knowing.

He was a sociopath who killed people for a living and was only ever appreciated by Bear. The racism just fed his hatred for others and he figured he could do better running the show himself.

Lmao this show is fucking gay and for little kids . It's the same as big bang theory

I really need to watch it again. But doesn't the season start with the narrator pulling out a book about a bunch of famous Midwestern crimes?

no, it was just a literal metaphor about two things:

>all the crimes surrounding the massacre during this season were so foreign and alien to upstanding lou and dad cop it was as if aliens were involved, and turns out they were
think sherriff bell not understanding the new kind of crime in No Country for Old Men

and more importantly

>when people can't communicate, they get violent and ruin everything
the aliens came down to examine earth, but they also didnt understand why humans were killing each other with such animalistic frenzy. Also in the final episode, dadcop shows us his weird universal language because he wants everyone to be able to communicate so there is no more violence like what happened at the motel

>The Wire

shit taste.

>Rome is trash

shit opinion, you are probably a dumb nigger.
