FUCK interstiller and the love transcends dimensions hate that shit so much

Went from a movie showing how how to unverise could just wipe out humanity and keep going on to love transcends dimensions

FUCK THIS SHIT

1. Interstellar sans the love bullshit
2. Ex Machina
3. Gravity
4. Arrival
5. Edge of Tomorrow
6. I gotta science the shit outta this

>Went from a movie showing how how to unverise could just wipe out humanity and keep going on to love transcends dimensions

Went from a movie showing how the universe could just wipe out humanity and keep going on to love transcends dimensions

Enjoyed all of them to some degree but the only one I'd watch again is Edge of Tomorrow. Pure entertainment from start to finish.

Gravity ain't a science fiction movie. It's a 4D theatre disaster movie rollercoaster ride, shown in cinemas instead of a more appropriate vehicle that shakes and moves with the spectacle.

1. Edge of Tomorrow

The rest are fedorian shit, and Gravity is Oscar garbage. Get fukced, plens.

Arrival
Ex Machina
Interstellar
Edge of Tomorrow
Gravity
The Martian

Interstellar
Edge of Tomorrow
Ex Machina
The Martian
Gravity
Arrival

Fuck The Arrival. It tried too hard.

They are all pretty good except for All You Need Is Kill's ending was lackluster.

1. ex machina
2. live die repeat
3. arrival
4. gravity
5. the martian
6. MURRRPHPH

INTERSTELLAR BUT WITHOUT NASA PROPOGANDA

youtube.com/watch?v=bH3a2wVe9WI

Just don't read so much into it. The plot still makes sense if you just interpret love as the complex bonds between humans.

1. Interstellar (and I don't care if you make fun of me
2. Ex machina (interchangeable with 3)
3. Martian
4. Gravity
5. Edge of tomorrow
6. Arrival

Fuck those rides were fun. I loved the Back to the Future ride at Universal.

Does everyone hate The Martian because of one cheesy line? Damon is supposed to act like some dopey science teacher not be a cool badass.

>Edge of Tomorrow
>The Martian
>Ex Machina
>Gravity
>Arrival
>Interstellar

From best science to least.

Martian (gets alot right, a few mistakes)
Arrival (solid science, some audiences too stupid to undrrstand time)
Gravity (mistakes but some stuff right)
Interstellar (would be number one except for 'muh love')
EoT (low science, but very entertaining)
Ex Machina (babbys first ai box experiment)

>Edge of Tomorrow
>Arrival
>Interstellar
>The Martian
>Ex Machina
>Gravity

1. Arrival
2. Edge of Tomorrow
3. Ex Machina
4. Interstellar

didn't bother with the other two. Edge of Tomorrow should be in your top 3 at least and if not you're a pleb

like Gravity, I never bothered to take the time to watch The Martian because it seemed like a generic oscar bait / blockbuster. Just from the trailers it didn't seem like it would appeal to me, but maybe I'm missing out

Interstellar is pure kino, however the love shit is stupid however ignorable. As another user said, the plot still makes sense with that part removed.

I loved Ex Machina, but that part with the "computer inside of the liquid matrix" part had me cringing hard. I agree it's the worst science wise.

watch the martian it's not really oscarbait at all. i'd say gravity was more oscarbaity

1. ex machina
2. edge of tomorrow
3. arrival
4. gravity
5. interstellar
6. martian

>maybe I'm missing out
it's really something that should be seen at the cinema the visuals are incredible, it's very tense and george clooney and sandra bullock make a good pair.

Agreed. Which is why I loved seeing Gravity once in a theatre. One of the few 3D "movies" worth the 3D. But beyond that, it's as stupid as a rock and as shallow as a puddle.

Oscar Bait: (from most to least)
Arrival
Gravity
Interstellar
The Martian
Edge of Tomorrow
Ex Machina

The Expanse > all these

How is Gravity a sci-fi?

The only sensible answer here

Legend of the Galactic Heroes/Babylon 5 > The Expanse

Ex Machina is shit, it offers nothing new to the singularity plot and even has a shitty story that's not about anything.

People who liked it only like it because "oh so brave of writer to kill off main character".

>watching Gravity in anything other than IMAX

Found the contrarians.

1. ex machina
2. Arrival
3. >implying I would watch that other shit

You are missing the best movie. Oblivion with Tom Cruise

>tfw your city has no imax theatre

Does it involve science? Check
Is it fiction? Check

I wouldn't put it in my top 25, but It was enjoyable. I was legit surprised at the ending. Plus Vikander was hot as fuck.

Edge of tomorrow is the only good one

1. Gravity
2. Ex Machina
3. Interstellar
4. Arrival
5. Edge of Tomorrow
6. The Martian

OBVIOUSLY

1. Arrival (really emotional)
2. Edge (pleasant surprise)
3. Ex machina (nice aesthetic)

>waste of time tier
joint 6th. Interstellar, Martian, Gravity

What about this movie?

Edge of Tomorrow
Ex Machina
Interstellar
Arrival
Martian
Gravity

I hope this is bait. PLEASE tell me this is bait. How can arrival be so high? It's objectively the worst science of the entire list.

Fuck this is hard. Let's try

>Oblivion
>The Martian
>EoT
>Gravity
>Interstellar
>Ex Machina
>Arrival

Edge of Tomorrow

Massive fucking powergap

Interstellar
Ex Machina
The Martian
Gravity

Haven't seen arrival, but I'd imagine it's 2nd or 3rd.

1) Arrival
2) Ex machina
*POWER GAP*
3) Edge of tomorrow
4) Interstellar
*POWER GAP*
5) Gravity

...
.....
...
>9001) The martian

Arrival
Ex Machina
Interstellar
Martian
Gravity
Edge

>tom cruise has two kino sci-fi movies in the past few years
how can lanklets even compete?

...

See

All of these range from Decent to Mediocre. Feels like there hasn't been a legitimately great sci-fi movie since AI or Minority Report or something.

see

What a sad state when most sci-fi is soft sci-fi, or watered down hard sci-fi at most.

1.) Edge of Tomorrow
2.) District 9
3.) Sunshine
4.) Interstellar
5.) Passengers
6.) The Martian
7.) Ex Machina
8.) Oblivion
9.) Gravity
10.) Arrival

Sunshine, District 9, Passengers, and Oblivion added

happy to report I've seen none of these

Pathetic.

do you make it a point to not watch anything mainstream? or have you just happened to not watch any of these by some freak chance?

>happy to report I'm a tourist film embryo that doesn't belong on this board

cool.

THIS GUY KNOWS

>watching mainstream soft sci-fi schlock is tourism now

shut the fuck up you braindead muppet

ex machina was good because it showed you can't trust thirsty betas

1. The Martian - a little cheesy but great otherwise
2. Edge of Tomorrow - would've been perfect if they had ended it with Tom Cruise staying dead
3. Gravity - great visuals, fine story
4. Interstellar - the "love transcends dimensions" bullshit completely checked me out
5. Arrival - Amy Adams is a Mary Sue, so many characters who do nothing, oh and she can see the future but somehow that isn't a paradox

Haven't seen Ex Machina

but every single one of these films is worse than Wissau's The Room.

Interstellar > Ex Machina > Arrival > Edge of Tomorrow > The Martian

I haven't seen Gravity.

>The Martian
>Edge of Tomorrow
Agreed and another major problem with both is that Matt Damon can only play Matt Damon, and Tom Cruise can only play Tom Cruise

It isn't well told, it's basically an ad for some theory someone else wrote loosely tide around a shit story, like porn.

Live die repeat
Ex machina
Power gap
Interstellar
Power gap
Arrival
Martian
Gravity

>exact same rank as me
The only reason I don't have Ex Machina bottom is naked Alicia Wikander and Oscar Isaac. If you care about neither, avoid. It's just a shitty Twilight Zone episode.

The ending was suppose to be different though. Coop was suppose to die and tars transmits the quantum data

1. Edge of Tomorrow
2. Arrival
3. The Martian
4. Interstellar

Haven't seen the other 2

1. Interstellar
2. Ex Machina
3. Arrival
4. Edge of Tomorrow
5. The Memetian
6. Gravity

Except twilight zone, at least the original, are way better written then ex Machina

1. Ex Machina by far, only kino in that image
2. Edge of Tomorrow
3. Interstellar
4. Arrival
5. Gravity
6. The Redditor

Gravity is last and shouldn't even be on the list.
Arrival is garbage and needsto be taken off.

Ex Machina was amazing
Martian was great if you look past the propaganda and dumb shoehorning quips
Interstellar was true kino.

>Amy Adams is a Mary Sue
You don't know what that term means. A Mary Sue is an overpowered badass who never faces any real hardship. Amy's character was a normal woman who had needed help from others to figure out the alien language.
>so many characters who do nothing
Jeremy Renner's character is extremely important. Without him Amy's character would've never figured out the alien language. Plus he saved her from getting shot.

This shoulda made the OP. It's no worse than 2 or 3 of those.

Hence
>shitty

Gravity has the better story of most of these

Ex Machina was amazingly bland. It's like a jar of mayonnaise with a random peice of chopped chile pepper at the bottom.

Arrival
...
...
Interstellar
Rest is pure crap.

>Gravity has the better story of most of these

Interstellar
Edge of Tommorow
Martian
Arrival
Gravity
Ex Machina

If you can get past the love shit in Interstellar it's fantastic
Edge of Tomorrow is a great concept and well made
The Martian is "realistic" and fun enough
Arrival at least tries to be an interesting sci-fi movie but was overly ambitious
Gravity was boring and not very realistic for a movie billing itself on realism
Ex Machina was just plain retarded and I don't know why it's on this list.

1. Passengers

1. Arrival
2. Ex Machina
3. Gravity
4. The Martian
5. Interstellar

Have not seen Edge of Tomorrow

Except no one has seen Transcendence. The movies OP posted are popular/critically acclaimed.

It has a theme and a character with an arc, something that couldn't be said about some of the ones on this list. But go ahead and reply with a meme reaction pic

this

id put Ex Machina above Arrival, tho

This is absolutely abhorrent taste
How do you even manage to breathe?

>the two best films are ranked the lowest
wew lad

>best
>he fell for the Nolan meme
>he rates Amy Adams
no

Have not seen ex machina

Interstellar is degenerate and should be erased from history
Martian is dumb schlock but doesn't trigger me
Arrival is ok
Gravity was semi ok

A great premise ruined by shitty caveman science fiction tropes that are just there because the screenwriters obviously didn't know how to move the narrative forward without relying on ill fitting three act structured conflict model that was anything but convincing or satisfying.
Here's digital Johnny Depp uplifting curing cancer, ridding the earth of pollution an uplifting humans. Let the US government join hands with a terrorist group to try and stop it by throwing rocks at it, because the writers couldn't' come up with anything else.
But at least it wasn't as stupid, pointless and derivative as Life which wasted a great cast and production design on things we've seen done better and less dumb in other sci-fi movies since at least 1979.

Why doesn't America try the Chinese model and put actual scientists and engineers in power?

Minimum qualification for the President:
MSc in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or similar core STEM fields.

If China is so smart how come they don't have a space station?

>But at least it wasn't as stupid, pointless and derivative as Ex Machina, Interstellar or Arrival
ftfy

1. Edge of Tomorrow
2. Interstellar
3. The Martian
4. Gravity

I have not seen ex machina nor arrival.

Are you Wally Pfister or do you simply have shit taste? All of those films are better than Transcendence.

Nah, all of the flicks you mentioned are better movies than Transcendence, the infuriating thing being that it wouldn't have taken much for Transcendence to top them. Life is utter dogshit though.

Because engineers and scientists don't know how to manage people. Lets say a political problem comes like a massive union strike or war?

It would be like having an engineer fly an airplane. He night have an idea of what to do but chances are he would just crash.
