So this is ironic right?

So this is ironic right?
I mean, this film seems like what an agitator would make if wanted to spread racial tensions. Although a real agitator would probably be less obvious about it.

Is the crux of this film that it's so obviously racist that it's funny again? sort of in a 'so bad that it's good' way?

it's pretty simple. black people genuinely, truly want to believe that white people are obsessed with them and deep down want to be black. kind of like how ghost movies are reassuring because they say there's an afterlife.

He's criticizing liberals that don't think they're racist but don't really do much to treat black people as anyone else.

How is this not obvious?

well, I hate to make generalizations like that. I'd rather try and understand Peele's motivations.
what I did find interesting was how all conversations were written to have subtle digs about the guy's race in it. Stuff like remarks about his genes, or using the word 'beast', or even the plushy lion in the bedroom. It's a really insightful look into how some people do see a racial attack in every little thing. I guess that's what the SJWs mean with 'micro aggression'.

I think it was pretty great.

Frankly, as a white person you could not pay me to become black (even if my mind was transferred into a stronger body) because frankly I understand all the shit you have to go through as a black person and I wouldn't want to go through it.

That said, there ARE some white people who covet blackness for some reason.

Racial coexistence is an invention of the white man. Nigs in Afrika could never coexist even with other tribes of nigs. If nogs were given full power over America, they would use it as their brothas did in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Of course a crazy, schizophrenic ape with a small frontal lobe such as Jordan Peele, would enjoy agitating for a racial conflict.

it's about white society at large, not just liberals

it goes further than that though, the message is that beneath that nice exterior those liberals harbor a hate born out of jealousy for blacks.
if the message was really about people deceiving themselves about not being racist, the film would have been entirely different.

im tired of all you hoosiers posting this stupid movie

>I'd rather try and understand Peele's motivations.

which I just told you. not 100% of black people believe that, no, but Peele is obviously one who does.

this is some subtle trolling friend. 7/10

see, I'm not 100% convinced. I agree with you that this is indeed the message of the film, my question is whether it's meant ironically, because the film is so incredibly blatant about it

It's a horror film made for black people, poking fun at daily encounters black people experience with liberal white people. Of course you're triggered cause you're not black.

That's literally all there is to it. That people read it as some kind of major social commentary is hilarious. Don't get me wrong, it's a really well made film and it captures that anxiety of being away from comfort perfectly. But essentially the film is just an in-joke that you probably won't get if you're not black (which is why all these white reviewers going "it's good but it didn't go far enough with its political/social commentary" make me laugh so much)

It was boring as fuck. What I am suppose to care that a police officer asked for I'd. Omg micro aggression

It illustrates the nigger's mind perfectly. Both innocent and superior.

10/10 post

because it's a horror movie. the genre is about making the implicit explicit. effective satire does the same thing

obviously nobody believes that white people literally want to go body snatcher on black people, so on a certain level it is ironic. it's not 100% supposed to be taken seriously that this is something to be afraid of. but the metaphorical meaning is there, and based on interviews it's what Peele believes. there's no reason to think otherwise

if it was meant to be a satire of satire, it'd be a pretty shit one anyway.

>That people read it as some kind of major social commentary is hilarious.

that's what got me. I heard about the overwhelmingly positive reception this film enjoyed, and was expecting something more.
As a film, it's pretty average. I was disappointed that it wasn't smarter though. the whole 'giving you a flashback to when a concept was introduced because we can't expect the average film going crowd to remember scenes from 20 minutes ago' trope is almost insulting.
Also, for a movie about hypnosis and altered consciousness told from the perspective of one person, it's so disappointing that the film doesnt fuck with the viewer at all. it's really obvious whats real and what's a hallucination/flasback

>That people read it as some kind of major social commentary is hilarious.

you realize that the director himself calls it social commentary

You're insulting the director of a movie you didn't understand by any possible means. It's amazing.

This. The dude literally watched The Skeleton Key and said to himself, "how about instead of voodoo, they do brain transplants."

for those who watched the movie
what is the context of the facial expresion he is conveying? what did he see or hear?

that's his "i'm in the deep place face"
means he's 'not there' i.e. paralyzed and on another plane of consciousness

thanks for replying friend but i asked the context in the movie, his face looks like he saw/heard something big

that was the context of the movie ya goof

based TSA bro

>his gf's mother is a therapist
>she's hypnotizing him
>this is basically preparing him for the brain operation
>they can't remove the entire brain so a piece of him will be left behind
>he is being placed in a type of void and can see and hear everything but is completely paralyzed
>before being hypnotized he was telling the story of how his mom died
>all this causes him to be afraid and cry

it was the gf's mom fucking with his head, making he remember his mother's death and stuff.

Even liberals and white women who fucked them are still using blacks as pets and fuck toys. They are still only objects. They are used for selfrealization or political goals. They are not humans especially in the eyes of "progressive".

The white rich are using them and the white poor hate them.

This
Cuck porn is racist as shit. It's literally propagating the idea that black people are just sex objects
Weird how feminists don't seem to care about that...

thanks, web-dl will be out tomorrow be ready

>I understand all the shit you have to go through as a black person

like what LOL

why would an alligator want to spread racial tensions?

to get at the crocodiles

I haven't watched it yet but I saw the trailer a couple times.

Based on that I am sure that this film accurately portrays what it's like being the only nigga surrounded by a gang of white folks. I don't know how Chappelle does it.

No need to worry my black ma... Sorry, free black man, as hero of the movie you could easely kill all those filthy liberals and get away with everything like good old dingu nothingu

I thought the film made it clear blacks were just the current fad? If things had gone on maybe they would have moved on to Asian, Latino, back to white, etc.

yeah, like those liberals did nothing wrong...

Yeah, the blind guy said that he didn't give a fuck about the guy's skin, he just wants his eyes.

ehhh.. that was one of the reasons, the other being that blacks were stronger, faster and more beautiful.
I'm pretty sure the whole jesse owens thing was put in to illustrate the fact that black superiority was always a thing, even at the height of nazism.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't about a deep-seeded hatred. It was about how the white left views blacks as commodity that can be used to "virtue signal" for some sort of positive political points.

>old white lady has her dying white husband put into the body of a young black man so he could be attractive and better in bed
>white woman keep telling black main character how handsome and strong he is
>blind white guy wants to be a young black man because "black is cool"
>white woman keep asking if black lead has a giant dick like the rumors say
>dead white grandfather put into body of a black athlete so he can run and work all hours of the day and not feel tired

The only contradictions are the grandmother and the way the family acts around the main character. The grandmother became a black maid because she wanted to take care of her house after her death? That really just sort of reinforced the blacks as servants mentality. And the four family members definitely talked down to the main character a lot while trying to backpedal and say "but it's cool, we voted Obama."

>it's pretty simple. black people genuinely, truly want to believe that white people are obsessed with them and deep down want to be black.

In america this is true. Other countries, no.

Americans are obsessed with race; they can never stop talking about it. They can never stop thinking about it. It bleeds into everything in their culture.

I mean, we're here talking about it RIGHT NOW.

But here's the real problem. America loves WINNERS and underdogs that validate the american dream.

But you can't be the underdog winner when you're the one benefiting from a corrupt system.

So they arrive at an impasse. There's two ways they can resolve the cognitive dissonance. Either they

A) admit that their system is corrupt and oppressive, that the American dream is dead, their culture is a lie, that there is no real meritocracy, and that the rich old white fuckers shit down on everyone, but especially minorities,

and that if your winning, it's not because you're better, it's because you're lucky, which honestly should make you a little ashamed

or

B) continue to believe in the American dream but hate minorities for being lazy and worthless.

The Jesse Owens thing pretty much backed up the movie's argument that white liberals just want "to be black" because they're overall "superior," yeah.

This reminds of the kind of shit Jimmy the Greek got fired for back in the '80s:
>"On January 16, 1988, he was fired by the CBS network (where he had been a regular on NFL Today since 1976) after commenting to WRC-TV reporter Ed Hotaling at Duke Zeibert's Washington, D.C. restaurant that African Americans were naturally superior athletes at least in part because they had been bred to produce stronger offspring during slavery"

The movie pretty much took that idea and ran with it.

>all that redditspacing
Kill yourself faggot.

I wanted to hate the movie because it perpetuates the black victimhood mentality, but it also shits on bourgeois white liberals who fetishize blackness because their lives are so devoid of meaning that hating themselves is all they can do.

It's also pretty obvious revenge murder porn for black people who think all white people are rich and privileged.

Subtextually isn't that basically suggesting that the only thing they're lacking is a good brain?

see, that's one interpretation. I'd argue that if that was intended, then the post-surgery people would be übermenschen, right? instead the post op folks are just zombie like husks. Also, the movie really really drives the point home that white people are just all round evil. once the pretext to be civil is gone, they all reveal themselves to be complete psychopaths, and I think the movie is trying to explain some of the white people's position in society that way. they aren't necessarily smarter, they're just way more Machiavellian and evil.

Nah, the black cop was a dick too.

I wouldn't characterize that as really malevolent though. that was just some innocent banter between brothers and sisters.
makes sense too given the story that the TSA dude actually had

>I understand all the shit you have to go through as a black person

No, you don't. Stop trivializing the hardships of POC.

hes_right_you_know.png

>Affirmative Action
>Free housing and food from the government
>White girls wanna fuck you
>Smoke weed and drink 40oz
>Fried chicken and watermelon

Ya, real suffering

do blacks really think white people want to be them? that's pretty sad.

>hes_right_you_know.png

>It's also pretty obvious revenge murder porn for black people who think all white people are rich and privileged.
while I think there's some truth to this, I loved the ending just because that's how I always want horror films to end. It annoys me when the sadistic bad guy tortures and brutally murders the good guys and then himself dies by like a single gunshot or falling off a building
Without going full action movie, this film had a really satisfying ending

Ignore race and you'll see this to be true

They should have went with the original ending, having his friend show up was a copout

dark chocolatey kino

The grandfather was pretty creepy.

Some fags might say "this movie is based it totally proves liberals are the REAL racists" but that's the main problem with the message. As much as I hate liberals, I can understand their beliefs and acknowledge that I hate them because they allow blacks and other minorities to act as they please and spread like a plague in our country and not because (except for a few at the top) they have some sort of secret desire to enslave all blacks. The fact that a black person chooses to demonize specifically this group of whites says a lot about the director and the racism in America today.

It shows that outright discrimination is very rare in this country, forcing him to choose as his avatars of racism an average upper class white family whos only racial transgression is an eagerness to please (until they start doing horror movie shit of course).

>BUT LIBERALS ARE KEEPING BLACKS ON THE PLANTATION THEIR POLICIES HURT BLACK PEOPLE

At no point in the movie is this point of view expressed or even hinted at. The movie doesn't suggest that liberals have a genuine desire to help blacks that ends up hurting them. In fact, the big reveal is that the liberal family is a bunch of actual racists transplanting their superior white brains into superior black bodies. The deep political commentary simply isn't there. "white ppl b raciss and cray-z", is the only consistent message throughout.

If the director wanted to make a movie about liberal racism he would've had an upstanding black family terrorized by a gang of unruly blacks on welfare who are enabled and protected by some white non-profit organization. The movie as it is does not illustrate how liberals coddling blacks destroys their communities. The villains are an average white family who are revealed to be malevolently intentionally racist. This is in no way analogous to "liberals BTFO". It is on the level of tinfoil hat conspiracy theory paranoia.

Fuck off, Sup Forums

>“For while when we had a black president, we were living in this post-racial lie,” he added. “The idea of, ‘We’re past it – we’re past it all!’ For me, and for many people out there – as all black people know – there’s racism. I experience it on an everyday basis. This movie was meant to reveal that there’s this monster of racism lurking underneath some of these seemingly innocent conversations and situations.”
latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-get-out-race-horror-sundance-jordan-peele-1485477812-htmlstory.html

Jordan Peele actually thinks he experiences racism (from whites judging from his choice of villain) on an EVERYDAY basis in fucking LA, a city that's only 30% white.

What a fucking loon.

This is the best observation I have seen concerning this film.

Where the heck am I? This can't possibly be Sup Forums.

key was always the funny one. why is everyone pretending his dancing monkey sidekick is genius all of a sudden? he must be pretty upset right now.

yeah, peele is the sexy one.

a broken clock etc

The movie is 100% serious. Why is it so hard for people to believe that a black man can be as racist as a white man, especially since they don't have decades of social conditioning telling them that even believing in their existence as a race is racism.

nigger.

because it has been produced by a huge team of people and enjoys widespread critical acclaim.
this is not 'one black man'

Black Tom Holland?

The scene where they hit the deer felt like a set up for something interesting but just led to the cop doing his job, what the shit

it's foreshadowing for when he uses the deer to kill whitey

The premise of the film is that black people often have an irrational fear of white people. In this case the protag ignores obvious warning signs because he's convinced that he's just being paranoid but twist yep these white people are actually bad.

It's not complicated, it's not particularly controversial, and anyone who has their feeling hurt by this is a gigantic pussy. It's fucking nothing.

I can firmly say that a white person can experience this exact same kind of feeling if they become involved with an upper middle class Chinese family in China.

I've heard that white people are pretty revered over in China but I dunno

It's almost like convincing yourself that everyone is out to get you if you keep a negative mindset. It's like I'm watching children abduct and control fully grown adults bodies

Your anime's and dreams lied to you.

>out to get you
>out to get
>out get
>get out

...my god, Peele's done it again

If anything we should thank the makers of the movies for keeping blacks away from white women

As long as black people exist, racism, too, shall exist.

*niggers
there are respectable black people, if you're gonna act like that at least leave your fedora at home
