So I guess mods are deleting Kek threads. I typed out a really long post to one of them, only to find the thread was gone. I'll try to post it here anyway as a standalone thread so my effort wasn't a total loss. This meme is a part of the culture here, I personally don't think all the threads should be scrubbed, but the mods have their prerogative and I respect that.
I was in the original Kek thread, it was pretty epic (more amazing rolls than you've ever seen in your life)
Here's what I personally know: >Sup Forums has been meming Pepe since it's beginning "Pepe" is a character from a webcomic popular back in the early days of the internet. He became a thing on Sup Forums because, allegedly, he is the first image that was ever posted here. As such he has been a part of thousands of memes, reaction images, and trolls over the years. More than anything else he symbolizes the Sup Forums community (that smug smile) >The term "kek" is used colloquially on Sup Forums in place of "lol" This goes back to World of Warcraft. The Horde used "kek", the Alliance used "lol". This alternate expression gained in popularity on Sup Forums because it was thought that "lol" has been co-opted by normies, and the people of Sup Forums always like to be edgy >During the summer of 2015, shortly before the "discovery" of Kek by anons on Sup Forums, Germanwings flight 4U9525 crashed in the Alps mountains near the village of Digne-les-Bains. This crash had so many coincidences that related to Sup Forums's Baneposting meme, that it was actually frightening. Look this up if you'd like more info, it really is quite jaw dropping.
Due to the Germanwings plane crash, there were many rumors being spread quietly on the boards that that some sort of collective consciousness was responsible for making this happen.
Then one day late 2015 a thread was posted on Sup Forums that contained a screenshot of a book with passages highlighted. These passages said that the ancient Egyptians used to worship a god by the name of "Kuk" also spelled "Kek", who took the form of a man with the head of a frog. He was described as the god of chaos and darkness that precedes the dawn. I still remember the name of the thread "Uh, guys, I think you should see this"
I think you can imaging the reaction this had. The thread basically exploded, and was bumped out faster than you could blink. As many anons pointed out, Kek is clearly Pepe. "Chaos" is basically Sup Forums. And there was a meme going around at that time that Sup Forums was the "path of light", which relates to Kek's "bringer of the dawn" role in Egyptian mythology.
Continuation threads were started. Anons dug deeper into the lore of Kek. We learned that the ancient Egyptians believed that repeating numbers created the universe (I think you can imagine how many replies that post got). We learned that Kek has a corollary, who represents his female half, by the name of "Keket" who takes the form of a serpent.
Imagine how all this looks to a bunch of autists, this can't all be coincidence. All kinds of wild theories started percolating. We created Pepe here, the Egyptians created Pepe back then. Somehow the meme re-emerged after thousands of years. Thus, people speculated that perhaps memes have a life of their own. That our world is not merely a dry, kinematic universe, but is built with memes.
If enough people meme together, the focused force of their collective consciousness can change world events. This is what explains the Germanwings crash, and also the spectacular rise of Trump in the Republican primaries. This "power of memes" was called "meme magic".
People then started speculating that Kek was more than just a meme, perhaps he is a real entity. The overseer of memes, and thus the universe. The chaos god that rules the world.

The first Kek thread, and all the subsequent continuation threads were chock full of some of the most incredible coincidences I've ever seen on Sup Forums. An overabundance of dubs, trips, quads, on some of the most relevant posts. Whenever this happened, people started saying "Kek has blessed you", or "this post has been blessed by Kek". People started posting Pepe's face on Egyptian artwork, the memes grew and grew.
The myth slowly grew. Later people started hashing out what the religion of "Kekism" looks like, what are it's doctrines and beliefs? People vowed to use Kek to win Trump the presidency, to win Brexit, and to reverse the migrant tide overflowing Europe.
Now it's become an integral part of the lore on Sup Forums
Dylan Smith
"kek" is basically a shortened form of "kekekek"
"kekeke" is the way koreans would type out "hehehe", it harkens back to the days of starcraft, blizzard made "lol" wordfilter to "kek" as a nod to the koreans

in world of warcraft the two factions had a language barrier, where what you typed would be translated in to gibberish to all players who couldn't understand the language you were speaking. 'kek' is what lol appeared as for other players if you were speaking orcish(the main horde language) and they were alliance.

>Kuk, also spelled Kek
Does this mean that cucks are the true servants of Kek?
So, once Trump finally reaches Emperor-God status, who will be the one true god? If Trump is Emperor-God it'd be heresy to worship any other "God" But still, Kek meme'd Trump to Emperor-God status so it'd be a dick move to abandon Him.
How do we solve this shit without getting into so shitty Christian/Muslim/Jewish monotheism-tier mental gymnastic?

The first instance of meme magic on the chans actually goes back before Germanwings, it started in late 2014 with Ebola Chan.

By Kek's will, potent memes of cursing will doom the coming DNC with extreme misfortune

First off, pepe is a character from a stoner comic called boys club. Second, Kek is from starcraft. You know, the whole zerg rush Kekekeke thing with Korean players, it's just Koreans saying lol.
