Why aren't there any frequency of documentaries and shows based on the Jonestown Massacre?
What few times it's referenced, it's made out like it was an extreme religious cult, instead of a radical leftist cult that used Christianity to indoctrinate people in to Marxism and then kill themselves in protest of an unfair world.
Except that's not what happened at all. Jesus. Take a fucking break from Sup Forums for a while.
Carson Myers
Jim Jones did nothing wrong.
Jordan Roberts
>radical leftist
KYS
Nicholas Cox
There's at least 5 different documentaries on Youtube alone.
Landon Morales
Sup Forums is an elaborate false flag operation by leftists to make rightwings look like retards.
Ryder Parker
>extreme religious cult >used Christianity to indoctrinate people
totally different to the Sup Forumstard brainwash victim
Carter Myers
...
Camden Torres
except that what was happened. It originally started as a church with hints of Marxism, but then he realized he could do anything he wanted because over half his congregation was uneducated blacks. Then he dropped the religion part, proclaimed himself an atheist and there was no going back after that.
Adrian Gray
>Then he dropped the religion part, proclaimed himself an atheist
No, he didn't.
Carson Jenkins
Rev Jim was BASED and /fa/ as fuck
John Harris
I own this Integrity shirt but I've never worn it in public.
The Sacrament was a good movie, even though it was basically just "When VICE Docs Go Wrong!: CULT SPECIAL"
Dylan Reed

Wyatt Thompson

William Reyes
David Koresh was killed and the ATF burned men, women and children alive. Sure.
but as far as cults go the Jim Jones thing was legit. The people people that survived it can confirm that it was.
Jace Fisher

Jason Ward
Nobody would know who that is
Ryan Hernandez
I'd like to make a black comedy about this. I mean, it would be both blackly comedic and about the joke that is black people.
Liam Morales

Austin White
I'm just dissapointed that shit like WACO and Oklahoma City bombing aren't taught every day in our public schools to show how shit of an ideology the right is.
Re educate the children
Ryder Collins
There was one on Reels channel literally yesterday. Also they usually mention the marxism and his involvement with marxist leaders in those documentaries.
>She stated that, as early as age 18 when he watched his idol Mao Zedong defeat the Nationalists in the Chinese Civil War, Jones realized that the way to achieve social change in the United States was to mobilize people through religion.[21] She admitted that "Jim used religion to try to get some people out of the opiate of religion" and had slammed the Bible on the table yelling, "I've got to destroy this paper idol!"[21]
Brody Turner
Those homies have been riding a comet since 1997.
John Diaz
From the same notes on the bottom of the page.
> The Temple openly preached to established members that "religion is an opiate to the people." (Jones, Jim. "Transcript of Recovered FBI tape Q 1053." Alternative Considerations of Jonestown and Peoples Temple. Jonestown Project: San Diego State University.) Accordingly, "those who remained drugged with the opiate of religion had to be brought to enlightenment – socialism." (Layton 1999, page 53). In that regard, Jones also openly stated that he "took the church and used the church to bring people to atheism." (Jones, Jim. "Transcript of Recovered FBI tape Q 757." Alternative Considerations of Jonestown and Peoples Temple. Jonestown Project: San Diego State University). Jones often mixed those concepts, such as preaching that "If you're born in this church, this socialist revolution, you're not born in sin. If you're born in capitalist America, racist America, fascist America, then you're born with a big dildo in sin. But if you're born in socialism, you're not born in sin."(Jones, Jim. "Transcript of Recovered FBI tape Q 1053." Alternative Considerations of Jonestown and Peoples Temple. Jonestown Project: San Diego State University.) Archived February 13, 2011, at WebCite

I don't go on Sup Forums but having researched that whole thing a pretty good amount it was definitely, definitely about communism. You can listen to (or read) the death tapes yourself, jones called them communists. They tried to give millions to their "comrades" in the USSR during the suicide.
It was at one point a "religious" cult, but definitely turned into a marxist movement. hence the commune in the middle of the fucking jungle. maybe you should read into it yourself
>James Warren "Jim" Jones (May 13, 1931 – November 18, 1978) was an American communist and cult leader.[1][2] Ordained as a Disciples of Christ pastor, Jones founded and led the radical leftist Peoples Temple, often described as having cult-like qualities.
dumb liberals acting like communism isnt a cult and a mental disorder
Brayden Bennett
So he was using pseudo-religion to sell a pseudo-socialism which was actually religious in nature.
Jonathan Cook
> a big dildo in sin Literally what the fuck did he mean by this?
Wyatt Foster
>Planet Earth About To Be Recycled I always liked that phrase. It's 100% apocalyptic, but also friendly and doesn't made it sound all that bad.
Ryder Robinson
Well this is the point, he was a raving lunatic who was no more a coherent socialist than a coherent pastor, but as he referred to concepts like sin and used his personal mystique to rule it as a cult, it's a cult, and thus ultimately more religious than political in nature. Anyone trying to debate Marxism with Jones would have got profanity-laced word salad in response.
Cooper Davis
I watched that whole tape a couple of times. Up to a point, it's very calming. The fact that he basically did it after flipping his lid when his girlfriend (yes, girlfriend) died is kinda romantic too.
Jacob Cooper
except if you actually read about what happened in jonestown, you'd recognize that it was basically a north korea in the jungle. it was a microcosm of socialism at the time.
non-existent threats, jones blaring himself over a loudspeaker constantly, not allowed to leave, everyone worked for nothing, a few guards who threatened people with violence or death if they acted out
and this is completely ignoring the fact that jones himself said his end game was communism. it has the same results everywhere it's practiced. educate yourself
Dominic Smith
Jim Jones was a con-man obssessed with power. Back then, socialism was the way to reach young, easy to impress people that had money. Maybe today he'd start a Kek cult to con some NEETs.
Jaxson Ross
Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple is fantastic.
Also yes, Jonestown was definitely a communist and believe it or not also an atheist. Although most of the church's members weren't atheists and he only started being open about that in Jonestown. You can listen to the sermons he did in Jonestown, it was 80% communism/far left ideology, 15% Jones rambling about how big his dick was and all the women he fucked, 5% religion.
Josiah Wood
Thank you, I've found my life's purpose
Carson Cooper
The resurgence of socialism/communism in the past 1-2 years is really grating
It's like 90% of reddit and 10% of Sup Forums went to first year uni and fell in love with Marxism, and the rest of us have to endure this cliche cycle that's been repeating since at least the 50s
Logan Anderson
Even his living children testify to the fact that he was a crazy psychotic leftist.
Jose Gomez
b-but it looks good on paper!
Noah Gomez
I learned about both of those before I ever learned about the Jonestown massacre. The media tries to cover the whole thing up.
