Astonishing Ant-Man #8 preview

Astonishing Ant-Man #8 preview.

It's time for the Superior Foes of Ant-Man!

...

...

...

seems interesting. What would be the most recent "jumping on point" for Astonishing Ant-Man? I mean, #1 seems the most logical, but it could always pick up at like, 5.

Pick it up at #1 of the last series.

GODDAMIT SLOTT!! I feel sorry for her not knowing what just happened to her father, Tombstone.

All I saw from the thumbnail was Jay and Silent Bob

But Hijacker II is also a newbie.

>Paul Sheer is not hanging out with all the other super villains

FUCKING DROPPED

AntBeetle is my OTP.

Issue 1 of the current volume.

>asks for most recent
>gives the oldest
user, please.

Hopefully this doesn't cause good guy syndrome later.

The current volume is a direct continuiation of the last volume. The book relaunched because of ANAD/Secret Wars, but it's the same creative team on both, with a lot of the stuff happening in the current volume coming directly off of that one. That's one the last volume's trade is actually advertised as a "vol. 0" for this one.

The reading order is:
>Ant-man #1-5 (2015)
>Ant-man Annual #1
>Last Days of Ant-man #1
>Astonishing Ant-man #1-current
If you skip any of it then you're missing out on serious plot elements.

>glorious beetle ass
>obscured by wings

Yeah, but he wasn't stupid enough to say it was his first job.

Pay attention to what you're replying. He asked for the most recent jumping on point and that is the first issue of the current volume or maybe a later issue. You can get by fine without having read the previous volume.

Man, they really need to redesign Whirlwind.

I mean nobody would miss this costume, right? There are iconically goofy costumes and then there are just flat-out bad costumes.

That's already a bit of a redesign from what his original costume was, and it's as sure hell better than this redesign was.

This costume's fine IMO.

>Whirlwind hitting on Beetle
Of course he is.

Even still, he probably has more experience than Magician.

But it's a bad jumping on point because it's not "really" a jumping on point.

She is a winged insect girl. Close enough

Once he dies from cloud exposure, ANAD Whirlwind can have a new suit.

>implying they won't retcon Whirlwind being a mutant like they did Squirrel Girl

But it is a jumping on point. You don't need to have read anything from before it. Spencer even recaps a ton of things

Ok then:
If you want the "most recent" jumping on point then:
>Astonishing Ant-man #1
If you want the "most ideal" jumping on point then:
>Ant-man #1

Being a mutant was a retcon to begin with. He used to just be a human that spun quickly.

Ant Man annual came out before Last Days but is based afterwards

It works based on the artist. The pin head give him charm and goes well with the spinning.

They also once tried retconning the Voice into being a mutant, though it didn't stick.

Wonder if Beetle is aware of how gross he is.

Isn't being creepy as fuck about Janet literally his entire personality?

He also is pals with Blizzard and is one of the free guys to show up in anti-Avengers teams while evading the "Thunderbolts" syndrome.

It's so hard to find a mid level threat villain who is just "bad" and doesn't die shortly after his reveal.

I want more GTS Beetle.

>GTS
what?

giantess

getting big causes brain problems

How is the new Astonishing Ant-Man ongoing?
Saw #1-4 at my lcs yesterday but decided not to get it.

It's pretty fun and has a Superior Foes-ish vibe in the sense that everybody is an unrepentant asshole. There's no Lieber, but what can you do.

Last Days was my favorite. It was a real nice moment Scott's boss revealed that the retirement home was for retired superheros.
