While in his tour of Algeria...

>while in his tour of Algeria, the French president exchanged with a young man on the colonial past of France towards Algeria, this wednesday. "But you never even lived colonization", Macron challenged him.
The full exchange is as follows:
>"France needs to acknowledge its colonial past", a young man scolded Macron on the street. The French president then assured him that France had long since acknowledged its history. "You're avoiding the substance of the matter", the Algerian man replied.
>"who's avoiding what? I'm avoiding coming to see you [Algeria]? I'm avoiding saying what happened? But things happened like I said... There are people who had love stories here. Frenchmen who desperately loved Algeria [he means the colonizers who made the country prosper], who contributed and did great things here, just as there are who did terrible things. We have a history between us, but I'm not a prisoner to it. but you what age are you", Marcron said.
>"I'm twenty-five years old".
>"Then you never even lived colonization. Why are you even coming here to mess with me. Your generation should look to the future".

He just keeps going on power trains on random African countries. I think the power's really got to him.
I mean I half-agree, but he needs to simmer down.

He's absolutely right. They should just get the fuck over it
I can see your point, but someone needs to put those dindus in their place. France is hardly the reason why their country is a shithole.

I don't really know all that much about France's colonial past, but I do understand that many of the nations that were formerally under French control are not to incredibly bad off, in comparison to somewhere like Liberia, Congo, or Somalia.

However, I do think that France should apologize for the bad things they did, I assume there was some? But I think it is also the duty of the Algerians to recognize that colonialism was not all bad, and that the French did bring some great things to the nation.

It's also the duty of both nations to look towards the future, which I think Macron understands much more than the Algerian guy. It's looking towards the past, or wanting reparations, or even relying on them, as in Israels case, that has held so much of the world back from embracing the full prosperity that globalism can provide.

Until this cuck ditches his barren old wife and has some kids of his own I'll never respect him

>disrespecting the God-emperor
You've got balls kiwi

>He just keeps going on power trains on random African countries.
Actually a common trend there is that he's indicting the corrupt leaders (and remember that the UN states corruption as the most insurmountable obstacle to Africa's growth) than he is the common folk who have nothing to do with the squalor of their situation. Macron is very eager for there to be growth in Africa actually, and knows that making Africa responsible of its own fate is the best cpurse of action.

It's really Françafrique 2.0 really where we side with the people, and not corrupt leaders who slip us trade deals left and right.

Saying the blunt truth to people speaking to him is not going on power trains.

Do you think she uses those withered arms to give him a wank since she just isn't up for regular sex after going through menopause twenty years ago?

>I assume there was some?
Yes, but Algeria stands as this particularity in the enmity France has with its former colonies since Algeria could equally be incriminated for crimes against France. The first invasions France speared into Algers for example only intended to root out Barbary pirates, but long-term occupation then became the only way to hinder the slave-trade of European travellers. And when fighting its independence war, like the French resorted to torture, Aglerian freedom fighters turned to bombings (battle of Algiers), and torture against French-siding muslims. When the war ended, de Gaulle decided for France to evacuate the country, and French colonizers and French-siding muslims (Harkis) had to leave the country in haste else they'd be killed by Algerians.

No one is that distinctly good or bad in French-Algerian history you see, and this gets on Macron's nerve as badly as it does for the average Pierre you see.

>They should just get the fuck over it
It will be hard to wash away, but as Macron said, sometimes there are those that actively seek out confrontation, and to make the enmity last, and that's no good for both countries since it means that France can't speak with Algeria as an equal yet (if Algeria keeps playing up its victim-ness), and that Algeria can use colonization as a crutch to not grow.

I think brown ppl need to get the fuck over their victim complex and try and make their countries half decent.

Yeah, it would help if you didn't destroy them to the ground every once in awhile.

>coming from a Russian

It should move on, Macron is right.

> making fun of Macron's wife's arms when Trump's wife has a man face

JUPITERIAN

Yeah, I'm not denying crimes of Russian government. You on the other hand...

Macron litteraly refered to colonization as a crime against humanity, and took quite a bit of heat for it

I don't think you can go any further in terms of apology
Time to move on, corrupt leaders claiming it's because of colonization were nearly all born after independance

France lost the moral high ground by using torture and all kind of bad treatment, but It was to stop the bombings.
When you hear about children being killed and mutilated, that you hear that some of your fellow countrymen, are found dead, their genitals in their mouth, there is just something that short-circuit inside you.
It's really hard to resist this reflex of indignation, and to stay civilized.
This is how we lost peoples heart. And because of that, we abandoned Algeria to a gang of thugs.

And now, Algeria is a corrupted shithole that was unable to use its oil to become prosper.

>century long exploitation has no long term effect whatsoever
where did this meme come from

True that, there has been a lot of long term effects. Roads, infrastructure, cities, plumbing, schools, healthcare, etc.

The Algerian government and Islamist rebels both did far more brutal things to each other during the civil war in the 90's,than the French did during the war.

Having said that, France really should just apologise and move on. It's basic manners and it hurts nobody, everyone knows torturing people and invading is wrong so they should just apologise.

>American turning a blind eye

Is the empty seat next to him symbolic?

AVE

It was already done famalam.

Don't criticize Macron's wife when Trump's wife is alread... wait.

As a french-algerian I agree with our beloved Président
>Should France apologize for its past or should it move on?
She already have habibi, let's focus on the futur.

Those would have happen regardless, Algeria is not in a better shape as Morocco and Tunisia which were mereky protectorates.
Also you forgot brothels in your list.

Your right, it's actually Turkey's fault for shitting the bed when they inherited the empire.

Stop.

Damn, is this Macaroni guy the new Napoleon?

shameful race traitor

Any country should remain mindful of its past crimes and call them by name. It should never reinvent history and gloss them over.

That said, just because someone's ancestors were oppressed doesn't give them right to extract vengeance on the innocent offspring of the oppressors.

Furthermore, nurturing bitterness over grievances of the past is of no benefit, it only poisons your present.
Remember the suffering of those gone, condemn the evil deeds of the past, and work to avoid such deeds being repeated in the future.

South Korea
Japan
Ireland
Portugal
Spain

there a loads of countries outside of North Africa that weren't much different in terms of poverty or shaking centuries of colonization
Yet today, there aren't even in the same devlopment bracket, for various reason, that don't all applie to Maghreb, but also with their specific limitations which Maghreb doesn't have

When it's been more than one full generation since a regime change, keeping on blaming everything on past evil overlords is plain scapegoating

there were way less islamic veils at the end of colonization, Nasser himself laughed at the idea of covering women

the whole arab spring switched from breaking old structures to actually reinforcing religious or religious parties control on the nation
Are you going to blame that on Europe, while blaming Europe for being islamophobic.
Whatever consequences of colonization impeding progress in North Africa, they are chilplay compared to the clusterfuck you guys brought upon yourself
Europe did not put the Muslim Brothers in power, the biggest winners of the Arab Spring were the islamists, 100% homegrown. You have to deal with your shit and stop putting it on everyone else's plate.

>Reconciliating memories, is finding the path that allows men and women born in Algeria to go back there, no matter their stories
This fucking guy lmao

>South Korea
>Japan
>Ireland
>Portugal
>Spain

You know those states either had massive American help or had the massive benefit of bring In Europe one if the hugest markets in the world?

>I do understand that many of the nations that were formerally under French control are not to incredibly bad off

Most of french africa is explicitly worse then it's Anglo counterparts.

Yes. He rules alone, without anybody's help. Macron reigns supreme over France and soon all of Europe.

Because you enable and support those leaders lol.

People say that but ALWAYS leave out the other factors lol. It's like how soviets gave their allies/vicyins support but it came with a huge caveat.

I fully do
Arab nations chose unalignment themselves,
both the US and USSR were begging to take them in
Again, shitty consequences brought upon themselves by themselves

try again

Yeah well then i also expect you to apologize for what you did to Spain and the Balkans
Oh wait they got back up immediately after being free from you, no problem and definitely no crying for fucking handouts (lol)
