Childhood was idolizing Matilda

Childhood was idolizing Matilda

Adulthood is realizing the grownups were right

You mean locking up a kid in a locker full of nails is being right?

what the FUCK happened?

A movie like this would never fly in this day and age. Pure 90s childhood kino.

Gets me every time

>mfw it's still a good movie that holds up well

Why wouldn't it fly? There is nothing politically incorrect in it if I remember well

It wouldn't fly because it's not generic enough

I don't get it.

Because if I remember correctly one of the parents smoked. Which automatically stops you from getting a G or PG rating. Also I think nowadays kids movies are super dumbed down, happy go lucky, this film shows a lot of abuse regardless of how exaggerated it is, I don't think it would sit well with the MPAA

Best childhood kino, also best childhood crush.

...

It's filled with child abuse, from her parents and from the school. Her dad was also some kind of crooked car salesman who scammed people for a living. These are topics you wouldn't see in kids movies today.

Umm, you know that's a child right?

at least her cousin turned out better

you seem lost friendo

Cute sexy isn't she?

It's been over 20 years since I've read the book but I remember the family being really seedy, like nothing about them was right.

Also, I know this is a pathetic thing to brag about but one of my friends was in publishing and met Quinten Blake.

sounds like Sup Forums's wet dream
