Why did no one complain about "pushing diversity" in The Matrix? It's not much different from The Force Awakens for instance.

Because the Wazchovski brothers were still the Wazchovski brothers. It were simpler times user

Who knows what Sup Forums would have been like in 1999.

Probably the same though.

It was a original movie, unlike Force Awakens. Also, a black guy isn't pushing diversity, faggot.

because nobody gave a fuck about """diversity""" back then

>TFA is a remake of the OT
>TFA is not enough like the OT

I hate this meme

Because it didnt seem that they cast Larry F on the colour of his skin

>The Matrix came out 35 years ago

This. If this movie would have been release today Sup Forums would be throwing a tantrum over it, they would call it reddit, and make a ton of forced shitty memes.

Larry at the time was acting very feminine, would wear women's earrings and make up.

>Why did no one complain about "pushing diversity" in The Matrix? It's not much different from The Force Awakens for instance.
Because everything they wanted to do didn't happen. They originally wanted Neo to be played by Will Smith. Keanu was relatable to white people and so the movie was a success. If it had been all evil white dudes being beat up by a bunch of brown people it'd of flopped hard. That's what the trannies wanted but they didn't get it.

Reminder that Reloaded and Revolutions are great films

Because "race realism" didn't get mainstream appeal on the internet until GG. Now literally everything is white genocide.

Because in 1999 the West wasn't obsessed with identity politics. I don't know how this cancerous shit got WORSE after the US have had a black president

Reloaded is good except for the cringe cave party scene, revolutions is awful

The Wachowskis have always been really annoying with muh equality

because it's not diversity for diversity's sake. they didn't pat themselves on the back for doing it. paying to watch it wasn't pushed as activism by corporate shills. more to the point, there was no apparent agenda behind it, or at least they were a lot more subtle

yeah, it's true that Sup Forums now can't see anything with a black person in without crying, but they brought it on themselves in a way

>If this movie would have been release today Sup Forums would be throwing a tantrum over it, they would call it reddit, and make a ton of forced shitty memes.
this is very true and pretty sad

It was only subtle because the studio forced them to be subtle. They wanted to push the trans shit way more with Switch but were forced to dial it back. They also wanted the original casting to be all brown people vs evil white people. You can actually still sort of see that in what we got if you look closely. All the villains are white. All the heroes are mostly brown, PoC and LGBTQ. The few white guys who WERE good guys were either queer or traitors who ended up becoming villains or have their mind taken over by villains. Then the few left after that were weak limp wrist faggots.

Aside from Neo and Trinity there are no strong whites. Keanu isn't all white himself though and he was originally supposed to be played by a black man like Will Smith who refused the role. Trinity was the only character who was meant to be a strong white in the entire fucking thing and she's female.

>TFA is a ripoff of New Hope
Every single star wars movie is a ripoff of New Hope

Because nobody gave a fuck about the ideas of white supremacists back then
Now, any non-white cast as a lead is "OMG WHITE GENOCIDE!!!1!!one!1!!!"

>Rewatch The Matrix recently
>Its aged like milk

this
The Matrix is a shit movie that edgelords fell in love with

I personally couldn't imagine anyone else as Morpheus. They wrote a character and he (an established actor) fit the bill. He's now iconic in that role.

To use your example, it's clear with Star Wars that they write intentionally bland, generic characters that any actor could feasibly play, and then work out the cast according to their quota. That's the difference.

No one's going to remember Boyega as Black Man, or Ridley as Girl Hero in 20 years time.

bullcrap

the first one is great

If the matrix had come out in 2017 it WOULD have been fucking Reddit

Because this was back when people just enjoyed movies and didn't waste time obsessing over the skin color of the main characters.

>To use your example, it's clear with Star Wars that they write intentionally bland, generic characters that any actor could feasibly play,
If any actor could fill the role, why does it being a black person matter?

Well I was weirded out by how there were actually few white characters in Zion, but I still enjoyed the films back then

notice that everyone that's in the simulated world (the Matrix) is white while almost everyone in Zion is brown

Are you under the impression that there was universal praise for the sweaty, ethnic rave scene in Reloaded?

youtube.com/watch?v=aaq3mFrXy6Y

No it wasn't.

So Zionists are a bunch of niggers dependent on technology siphoning out the life of white people

The CGI didn't age well -which is very visible on Reloaded in the Smith fight in the park- but overall the movies look fine.

> Keanu was relatable to white people and so the movie was a success. If it had been all evil white dudes being beat up by a bunch of brown people it'd of flopped hard. That's what the trannies wanted but they didn't get it.

basically yeah

I haven't LAWLED that much in awhile. Thank you user.

The matrix was cool as shit

So futuristic and yet so 90's

Perfect sci fi nostalgia

Reloaded is the shit one.

Revolutions is great, I have no idea why people dislike it so much

>main character isn't even white
>the bad guy is a white man
>one of the main characters is black
Why doesn't Sup Forums sperg out more over this

Even the animatrix had two shorts with the black males and asian and white females

I don't know how you could read that and think my problem is the black actor, and not the generic character. The problem is that they decide they need a nondescript black character to fill their quota, instead of actually writing compelling characters and then finding suitable actors. It would be just as bad if their quota was to have a 100% white cast, if being white was the only notable thing about each character.

Although the first matrix was great its funny watching it again and seeing just how low budget it is.

The main actors cant act, the minor actors are acting their hearts out and all the props look cheap and flimsy. I especialy love when some is supposed to press an enter button on a key board in a dramatic way and instead just mashes the keyboard with his palm.

lol.

Beyond is the only segment I thought was good, though it would depress me if I rewatch it

Most of Sup Forums is too underage to have even seen it.

Reminder that if you were born on the day The Matrix released you'd only be 2 months from being 18. Reminder that that's the demographic you're sharing this board with.

Most cyberpunk fiction and writers seriously understand fuck all about computers, it's all just aesthetics and metaphors for some Marxist bullshit.

is this really what you focus on?

Nothing like watching 5 minutes of a metaphorical orgy.

Also obligatory IS THAT A FUCKING NIPPLE post.

Fuck off Sup Forumsyp.

because Neo and Trinity were supposed to be black in the scenario

I don't know what that means.

The red pill was ironically not around as much back then.

The 5th time wathing it, yes.

Coz event horizon already sold me morpheus as an exellent ship captain.

Midnight especial sold me kilo ren as an inept cia agent.
Its the little details user.

You dont need to be from Sup Forums to laugh at the philosophy contained in the matrix films.

*Postmodernist bullshit then. Is that better?

90% of the people ITT are full of shit

The Matrix was always about bizarre nigger fetishism

Keep in mind that this was the beautiful human society that all the characters fought and died to protect and suddenly Cypher's actions make a lot more sense, imagine his face the first time he got there

I rewatched the trilogy to a friend who didn't know about it some time ago, he liked Revolutions the most but mostly because it focused way less on Neo and more on the war on Zion and Smith, which is what he liked the most. I find much people don't like Neo. Now I wonder how the reaction would be if he was black instead.

Nobody has ever said that TFA is not enough like the OT. It's literally a carbon copy with a fresh coat of paint sprayed over it.

And the storyline is so obviously political. Is everyone just going to tell people to go to Sup Forums for mentioning the politics in politically charged fiction?

No, because you still don't know what either of those words mean.

Read a fucking book.

People in Zion were living like sewer rats

Remember in Cloud Atlas when they showed how 10,000 years in the future whites would all be filthy illiterate tribes of cannibals and blacks would be hyper advanced philosophers living in a spaceship?

What did they mean by this?

i'll take "what is bait?" for 100 alex

the difference is that there seemed to be the board at disney had pushed for more diversity for marketing purposes (virtue signal) and maximize demographic appeal to get more $$$

Lucas did this to a less extent with Sammy Jackson in Mace Windu's role, since he was terribly miscast to play a stoic jedi.. instead of getting morgan freeman, he got sammy jackson since he had the most box office draw (since pulp fiction) among demographic (and not for just for the 'urban' market, but the 18-25 group who loved pulp) - but its a little less bad because he atleast was trying something new, disney is trying to pull nostalgia

This. I think the CGI of Reloaded and Revolutions still looks great, but that of The Matrix looks embarrassingly bad, like from a animatic. If there were ever a justified remaster, this would be it.

>still don't know
Have we spoken before?
>Read a fucking book
Which book? There are lot of shitty books.

>The problem is that they decide they need a nondescript black character to fill their quota,
You mention that any race of actor could fill the roles, so why're you going on about quotas?

I only watched the sequels a year and a half ago, after having seen the original for the first time like 15 years ago.

They obviously didn't live up to the hype, but they weren't 'ZOMG WORST MOVEES EVER'

Reloaded just seemed to be a competitor pointless movie. Other than the architect scene it contained nothing that couldn't easily have been in revolutions.

Like Will Smith, Laurence Fishburne is not considered black

lit af

>Forced underground for unknown amount of centuries
>centuries more of black sky since the end of the second renaissance
>Black people still exists as they do today and haven't become completely white themselves.

As far as we know, it only took as little as 2000 years for migratory Africans to become white while living in Europe/Asia. I'm supposed to believe this many niggers exist in a dark world AND living underground?!

*completely

There hasn't been a single good American action movie since The Matrix, you limp wristed faggot. The Matrix reinvented the action genre and is fucking iconic. Even the worst one is better than 90% of modern blockbusters.

I didn't particularly take note of it when I watched The Matrix. Morpheus and Smith were cool and all, the dynamics were all neat. The Oracle was annoying from the first minute she opened her mouth but whatever.

But by the time this came out I was already fucking tired of it. Almost every short had a BLACKED subtext, it was obnoxious.

This

What the fuck has happened to our culture? Everything, everywhere is just getting worse and worse.

That whole movie was a mess, but their pidgin language seemed extremely convincing of what English might sound like hundreds of years from now. Still, trying to understand them was a pain in the ass and thus connecting with them was was hard. The zombie hallucinations and general shittyness of the story also didn't help.

Yeah I agree. Reloaded felt too much like a filler movie to justify a trilogy and it's way obvious they were working on Reloaded and Revolutions at the same time too.

What are you talking about? The first vignette is about a black dude wanting to bone an asian lady and that's the only black guy in the whole movie.

Yeah but Second Renaissance made up for it

this, it's crazy how groudbreaking it was in so many aspects

I don't blame you for your faulty memory of this shitheap

Back then people realized that ratio was correct and no one gave a shit about race really except CNN and Fox.

>There hasn't been a single good American action movie since The Matrix

John Wick, Dredd, Casino Royale, Mad Max

>not expecting a black man to be the best at atletism

Do you even stereotype user?

Why didn't the machines fix the sky and explore the solar system?

And don't tell me they couldn't do it, they had at least six fucking centuries to figure it out.

I forgot about this one lol

wow, they used a black athlete for a world record.

Because they choose to fill the roles by quota...

Like I said, the roles themselves are generic as shit. If they just picked actors out of a hat, which they easily could without anyone batting an eye, the chances of ending up with a woman and a black man as the two main protagonists are pretty slim.

Because it was a good movie and they chose good actors to play good parts and it was fun.

>he doesn't know about the ayy lmaos in the short story from 1999

>Because they choose to fill the roles by quota...
>Like I said, the roles themselves are generic as shit. If they just picked actors out of a hat, which they easily could without anyone batting an eye, the chances of ending up with a woman and a black man as the two main protagonists are pretty slim.

So you admit that anyone can play the roles, but you make up an imaginary quota system to have something that's oppressing white guys? So they shouldn't have chosen a black guy or a woman?

>Dredd, Casino Royale
British

>Mad Max
Australian

>John Wick
Eh

I didn't know about the Jews when I was 10.

That's not how evolution works, user. But the niggers are viable simply because of the amount of dependence everyone has on the machines and nothing natural

why can't anyone grasp the concept of intent anymore?

And in addition to the CGI interracial episode, there was also the samurai duel between these lovers

You forgot this one

>the black guy is on black armor with horns

BLACKS ARE EVIL

Because the machines are just another layer of control. The Masters of which are likely rich white men. Why else would so much of Zion be browns and betas like Mouse, The Kid and Neo himself(don't try to deny Neo wasn't a beta cuck before he became a pseudo 1337 haxor)

Meaning diversity doesn't count unless you intended it?

I actually remember reading about this years ago.

Was it an official story?
Was it good?
