Can be TV or film.

The magicians from Syfy, I know its syfy but i think its above a majority of the stuff they do, its not hardcore fantasy like Tolkien as its set in a modern world (there is a classical fantasy setting mixed in as the show progresses) theres demons, magic creatures, spell casting, and gods

If you think Warcraft is good then you should like the Clash of the Titans remake and sequel that came out in recent years.

Its not fantasy, but Last Kingdom has been really good.

Plenty of good books.

Was going to say this, thanks for saving me the effort of typing four words.

I'm going to try watching this user, but I am preparing myself for absolute garbage.

The gap between good and bad fantasy film/tv is massive and hardly anything lives in the middle.

>tolkien
>good fantasy

if you're looking for high-fantasy there's wheel of time and memory, sorrow, thorn

Yeah I liked this a lot.

Mythica - 5 movies in total.

low budget but it makes up for in likeable characters and nice locations.

American Gods. Based on an actual fantasy classic. Magaycians ain't got shit on it.

Dragon Lore: Curse Of The Shadow

also, Beowulf is good for CGI.

Wew, looks like cheap cosplay by teenage goth grills.
>those paint-on eyebrows

I recommend the Divergent series of films. Shailene Woodley is the next Meryl Streep

>Legend of the Seeker
half fantasy, half leather bondage porn.

>memory, sorrow, thorn
Damn haven't thought about those in a while

I'd recommend black company as well

P.S. Wheel of Time is shit

OP clearly is looking for TV and film.

Poor man's Burger Games
>the next Meryl Streep
>Shailene Woodley
Funny how you misspelled Kirsten Stewart

i couldn't make it through book 2 personally but i recommended it because everyone else praises it. but it's good to see there's at least one other person on earth who read memory, sorrow, and thorn

Better question: Does any good recent fantasy stuff exist that IS Tolkien, Game of Thrones, or WarCraft? Return of the King came out 14 years ago.

Memory/sorrow/thorn is pretty great, though the writing is a bit crude, I'd recommend it for anyone 10-15 (that's around when I read it), but I'd recommend other shit like black company or saberhagen's sword series or the dark tower series for older people, depending on their background/history (black company seems to hit a lot of vets right in the feels, for instance)

Fun fact about memory/sorrow/thorn, I recently picked up a newer book by the same author and it wasn't like a carbon copy of that series, what in fucks name

Oh and also the death gate cycle, that shit was grim

Go see king arthur

I once read a book but forgot the name
It was about a boy looking for his father who was a pirate with a fliying ship
It had goblins and all kind of monsters

WoT is fine. It's overly bloated and shows its age but there are more than a few enjoyable moments in the series and the magic system is one of the better ones out there. Yes the female characters are insufferable but it also makes it better when they get put in their place.

>reading a shit dadfantasy bloated series with shit characters just because DUDEBRO WOMEN GET PUT IN THEIR PLACE LMAO
Must be hard to be /r9k/

>Shailene Woodley is the next Meryl Streep

That's not a good thing, user.

It's absolute trash, there's some fun ideas in there but the writing is shit and plays up stereotypes so much and so often that I want to kill myself whenever I think about reading it

>2 hour graphic homosex scene
don't do it OP, im warning you.

>he can't handle graphic homosex scenes
What are you, some kinda faggot? Probably won't even make it to the show anyway.

No, not really. For whatever reason it's always better in books and even video games.

In film, fantasy peaked in the 80s when it was made with a real understanding of the appeal of the genre. Now it's mostly young adult stuff aimed at girls, anti-fantasy like Game of Thrones, or mediocre movies that you've already seen 200 times like King Arthur or whatever Ridley Scott shits out.
