That scene in the cafe where he goes to town on the interstate murderer pair is kino in itself. The entire movie just works, I enjoyed the end because I like to think they go back to being a happy, practically cliche family except everybody in town knows not to fuck with them.

It's actually pretty shitty. Like everything cinematic but comic-book related it's tainted with retardation, dry dialogue, edginess, shallow characterization and all the rest. Cronenberg manages to lift what should have been a 4/10 to a 6/10 but that isn't saying too much. The opening with the killers is kind of creepy but that's also the high-point of the entire movie.
