Is there a market for black female actresses?

Is there a market for black female actresses?

Hey. I'm a mixed black girl interested in tv and film. I've already started taking acting lessons, got involved with an agent, and have landed a few roles in plays. My passion is to break into television or film as well.

My question is: is it worth it? I would like to be known for my acting ability and not my skin color, and so far it seems my skin has not been an issue. However, I want to know how it would be in tv and film.

I'm just very curious of other people's opinions. Would appreciate any, and will take them into consideration.

Post ass or GTFO

Honestly, no. Unless you're fine with doing 99% commercials or similar
I can't remember the last time I saw a black woman in a major role that wasn't a movie about "being a black woman"

You could get fat and be the sassy black woman.

>Is there a market for black females?

there used to be.

Thank you. I definitely wouldn't want to play a role like that.

if you're black-black, no. If you're light-black, you might have a chance.

Not if you're American. The british are cucking the shit out of y'all

If you're willing to prostitute yourself to identity politics, then there are plenty of roles for you. If not, it'll be a little harder since Hollywood doesn't take kindly to people that aren't in the hivemind. It also depends on how attractive you are too, if we're being honest.

Like that girl in scandal and the guardians of the galaxy girl is a mixed breed I assume

That's nasty. I couldn't imagine being fat, let alone playing a "sassy black female". Roles like that make me want to vomit. It's a horrible cliche. I'm content with being skinny.
Is that a race joke user? :( jeez.

If you post some pictures of you, preferably nude ones, I can evaluate your star potential.

You could play the role of my gf.

can you post pics of your pusy pls?

This

Since you're light-skin you probably have some chance.

Just prepare to get BLEACH alot since it's the only roles you will probably get.

Any time you get denied a role, just complain loudly and often that it was racist and you'll get work

LONDON

Post face cutie :)

Are you into white guys?

Shut the fuck up, you fucking sack of shit.

You act like you know everything you fuck. YOU. KNOW. NOTHING.

Ah, I see. I'm mixed, but not as light as the actress I posted in my opening post. More close to a Kerry Washington tone.

I am a very proud American.

Definitely not up for selling my soul to roles that showcase me as a walking political ploy. I honestly just want to act..I love the craft. So thank you for being a realist with me. This is what I was afraid of. Hopefully it changes before I get old.

If you're asking whether black/mixed women can make it in tv or movies I would say absolutely, see pic related.

On another note, how did you get started in acting? Are you in a big city? What did you do before applying for representation from a talent agency? I'm trying to start but have no idea how, it seems like most actors have been doing it since childhood.

...

> not up for selling my soul to roles that showcase me as a walking political ploy
Enjoy not acting then. The new cause de joure is diversity which doesn't really mean diversity it means more black people taking roles of non-black characters. Everything you do will be seen as political even if it isn't your intent. If you can't handle that, don't go into acting.

4/10 cosplaying. Are you hot?

halfrican is the accepted term

Zoe Saldana is one of my biggest inspirations next to Angela Basset, Charlize, and Emma stone.

But I've involved in performing since I was young, just not in the acting field. I was involved in dance, pageantry, and classical piano. I'm very similar to you! I didn't start showing an interest until the beginning of college. I've always loved television, film, and theater though.

I got started by taking lessons in a local studio. The teacher there is well renowned in our area. Just do a little research and you should definitely be fine in that regard. I do not live in a big city, a very suburban community actually. But a city is close enough where all the "artsy" stuff happens.

I've done a few plays in the city to build it up credibility beforehand.

Good luck user!!

I suppose you're right :/ but I don't want to be cynical just yet. I'm hoping to at least inspire other poc to not only act, but play characters that just so happen to be black.

Not characters who are black for stupid agenda reasons. I hate this diversity shit honestly :/

Thank

I think the other guy is being a little too pessimistic. The only roles for black people aren't just for traditionally white characters. 90% of the roles are definitely going to be trying to push political shit, so you'll just have to look for the other 10%. It might take you longer to rise up, but at least you'll be principled.

Which superhero do you want to play

You're welcome!
Thanks user. This was motivating. I'm well aware of how difficult it will be, but I'm prepared to turn down things that smell like a bullshit agenda just to focus on my skill, and putting on a damn good show.
None. Capeshit is entertaining, but not really my thing. Would like to portray original characters if that makes sense :^)

go indie, go to a film festival and make connections

What are you mixed with and which parent is black.

this, its really all you need to do

Can I pls be ur pusyslave?

Solid advice user! Will look into that next, thank you.
My mother is black/Scottish
My father is black/Asian.
I'm just..very mixed. But I identify as black.

based

If we were both in a film about mistresses and bdsm..perhaps.

That's silly and disgustingly bratty. Couldn't even fathom bringing up my race in ANYTHiNG, much less because I didn't get a role.

fucking fraud fuck off

find directors who are desperate for actors
make sure to sell your acting to them and they might hire you

are you going for comedy, drama or what?

>Couldn't even fathom bringing up my race in ANYTHiNG, much less because I didn't get a role.
>literally the whole point of the thread is ops race

Drama mostly. I don't think I'm very funny honestly. Wouldn't mind action either as I've always wanted to work out extensively to land a role which would require it. Or take fighting lessons of some sort.

Working on it ;^). I'll call my agent.

reddit.com/r/feet/search?q=black&sort=top&restrict_sr=on

I meant outside of this site. I knew someone was going to call me out on that, should've clarified. I'm not race focused at all in real life. I tend to stray away from politics or anything of the sort. As far as I'm concerned..everyone deserves respect. That might make me naive to some, but I've never felt isolated or alienated because of my race before.

Y-you wouldn't happen to go to Texas A&M, would you? I swear I've seen a girl there with this same mix

are you interested in doing porn?
the porn industry would love to have a cute ebony like you.
tell me the size of your lips.

more of a history joke.

Kek, thanks for the laugh user ^.^

Did you search black nail polish by any chance o.o try ebony? I dont know user..I have no idea how to navigate that site

I don't, sorry :( but that is very interesting..I don't hear of many people with that mix! If she's Jamaican, then we could be related.

No thank you ^.^

Point taken.

>That might make me naive to some, but I've never felt isolated or alienated because of my race before.
Why even bring it up then? You could still have your femanon attention thread without bringing up the fact you're a mixed girl, but you had to mention it. It's an odd dichotomy to say things like "I'd never bring up race" and "my race has never affected me" then make a point of asking a question specifically focused on your skin and how it could affect you.

You wouldn't want to bffs with Spike Lee?

Start up some social justice blog then shamelessly self promote ypurself off of the media hype.

Prove you are black

>are you interested in black girls user?

>Hey. I'm a mixed black girl interested in tv and film. I've already started baneposting, got involved with dubs, and have landed my ass on a few faces. My passion is to date a dorky white guy.

>My question is: are you interested? I would like to be wanted for my personality and not my skin color.

wow I'm not sure what to say, Sup Forums is the last place I'd expect something like this, but sure I'll go out with you.
I have a family event tomorrow, but it's an early dinner. We can go out around eight or nine.

They are not full black (most black people aren't) but they are more black than someone who is only half.

AFAIK there's no word for that.

do you have a twitter?
you should make one so you can shill your work and gather a fanbase with your work.
go to film festivals like sundance and start begging for a role.

you are a girl and black so it should be easy.

Because I live in a relatively small town :/ and I browse a Mongolian knitting forum that reminds me every day that I am not white. It may sound stupid, yes I understand. But I'm truly afraid of my race being an issue. everyone around me has yet to say anything...but they could just be feigning kindness for all I know.

But alright, alright. I'm sorry for making the thread. Just sage and report please.

Not that mixed. You're half black, a quarter white and a quarter Asian.

Honestly, you would have a better time and make more money doing porn as a mulatto girl over trying to make it into Hollywood. As much as you think 'diversity' matters, it won't mean shit to anyone for you because you're not fully black, and the black men/women who want more 'diversity' in films can't relate to a mutt. All of the black actors in Hollywood either got their start as a child, or came up through sheer nepotism. You said you live in a small town, well, another part of Hollywood is all networking and who you know. If you don't have the initial person to get you through the door, you'll never make it, and it will be a thousand times harder because you're 'black' but you really aren't.

Hollywood is seedy. unless you're in it for the money, its worthless trying to 'make it' as a big name actress. Just do porn if you want to make easy money.

I assume you're underage because it's cute how naive you're being. I could name off ten latina women in Hollywood before I could name five mulatto girls who work in the industry. Enjoy sucking off fat old jewish men for some "breakout next level" roles in black girl hair product commercials.

Please save yourself the trouble and do something worth your time. Use your talent and skills to find a real job, you won't make it anywhere in Hollywood

Those are mainly just memes, desu. I'm mixed too, but I meme about people not being white on here all the time. It comes with the culture. I doubt people would really care about your race, especially with how sensitive of a subject it is.

Don't feel bad you aren't white, there's nothing magic about it. Regardless of your race, just do your best and try to be a kind person. Sure maybe you'll never be the next Jada Pinkett Smith or Halle Barry, but you can have a perfectly fine life with happy theatre friends that enjoy your kindness and acting chops. Success isnt race based, its personality based.

>that reminds me every day that I am not white. It may sound stupid, yes I understand. But I'm truly afraid of my race being an issue.

you are mixed woman aka the reason why dark women hate women like you because your kind is more beautiful and more intelligent and race being an issue is complete bullshit. its 2017 as john oliver famously said. people are hiring minorities for diversity sake and the status quo

you are our favorite kind of nigger.

Disappointing

>But alright, alright. I'm sorry for making the thread. Just sage and report please.

lol you're definitely not making it ANYWHERE in the industry with this pushover pussy attitude. Honest question: what makes you want to be an actor? Why do you want to work in Hollywood?

If you really want to be 'known for my acting ability' just do stage-plays because from this thread you come off as a sensitive little bitch and you aren't going to get anywhere or anything done in Hollywood with your crybaby 'p-please d-dont bully me!!' attitude

>people are hiring minorities for diversity sake and the status quo

They're hiring black people to appeal to black people. Nobody is going to hire a mulatto girl because it will alienate half of the entire black market. Real black girls hate redbones and nobody is going to risk hiring op for 'diversity' when the black population won't see something with a mixed race person in it. Try better next time kiddo

>I would like to be known for my acting ability and not my skin color

Well, considering the massive demand for handicapped diversity hiring, you're better off emphasizing your color.

>Mixed

Triple threat

>MUH BLACKNESS
>MUH UNIQUE MIXEDNESS
>MUH LIGHT SKIN MAKES ME MORE ACCEPTABLE FOR NORMIES

Also blacks are still allowed to have their own segregated industry, so you get to work in an exclusive field as well as be encouraged to work in the normie industry.

Are you cute?

Unless you're really hot or really talented (but not ugly, unless you're comically fat/ugly) you will struggle anyway.

>Girl

>On the internet

lol no.

Feet, tits or sharpie.

Just don't take any roles that were originally for white women, nothing pisses us off more. If you find it racist when white women play Africans, we feel the exact same way when black women play Valkyries and European historical characters. Good luck to you though, I hope you find something original and make a good name for yourself.

>I would like to be known for my acting ability and not my skin color
TV I'd say yes. With movies... I never really see brown girls getting cast, not for what you're looking for at least. It's either a movie about being black, capeshit, or romcoms
>go to film festivals like sundance and start begging for a role.
This honestly. Take a look at Sonequa Martin-Green. Started in independent films, got a minor role in the walking dead, and is about to be the lead of a major television series

>Is there a market black female actresses?

No.

White Women + Black Male ONLY.

White women get mad if they see Black Woman + White Male.

And women usually get to pick which movies to watch.

That's why you hardly ever see Asian female leads in English language movies.

Black Men, White Women. That's it.

See, Diversity means "women", even if they're all white. And it means "Black Men" even if no one else is included.

so ebony user, did the thread help you?
i would like an update.

I believe the story's true.
but he's a guy, not a girl.
if he was posting as himself, this thread would be on page 9.
clever guy.

>tfw you will never be with a mixed proud american black girl who is scolding you with her texan accent about the wrong carton of milk that you bought because she and your two kids don't like that brand

Do it and become the qt actress we KNOW shitposts on Sup Forums

are u wet bb?

Non-whites can't drink milk, dummy. And you'd be a white man raising non-white children, you'd be the ultimate degenerate cuck.

I know you're talking about the other one but I always liked this one more

so you looking for a role, huh baby?
i know just the guy

I'd say so, though you'll likely find yourself making films for Lifetime, BET and Tyler Perry. It's unfortunate but that's the reality of racial dynamics in cinema. Keep doing what you do because with how Creed turned out, and the upcoming Black Panther, I wouldn't be surprised if more black-centralized quality films were to be produced afterwards.

And good job OP for chasing your dreams.

do it for Sup Forums femnon, youll be fine.
Also u got any nudes?

Honestly, it did. It was a good reality check. I also realize that I will probably never make it as a tv film star, but I'll enjoy doing plays or small indie things. It sounds wholesome enough for someone like me lol. So good thread overall, thanks anons.
If I was a guy, I wouldn't even ask this question >.>

>implying my kids wont look like Jason Kidd

he's black you know. not even memeing

feet?

>it's an anons are actually helpful to OP but she doesn't do anything in return for them

M-my appreciation and gratitude isn't enough? ;___;

unfortunately that is too short

the other one is more sexy

Not even close. You could at least appease the footfags and preserve your morals or whatever

at least show us your hand or feet

You're a dumb roastie which means you're a societal leach. Your also a non-white living in a white country which makes you a double leach.

Just a piece of advice. Hollywood is 90% looks, 10% talent. All you can do is do a lot of auditions and hope there's a role where they don't necessarily want a Scarlett Johansson. Good luck with that.
There have been mixed women doing fairly well for themselves in Hollywood. Work hard, don't let rejection get you down and maybe we'll fap to you in a few years.

I didn't start a thread asking for help now did I?

>it's a bait thread reaches bump limit episode

i don't know why i don't just change the channel

thats not true. Black actors just need to go out and find more diverse roles. Op should audition for roles she feels passionate about.

look for roles in serious dramas or some shit dude. I feel like Black British actors have it easier than black american actors because of how american blacks are commonly portrayed in american film. As long as you remain passionate about film and acting and you put that on display, people will see your talent first.

also, noods?

>black user didnt post a picture of her skin
why did everyone here waste their time with this fraud?

we're here on a friday night.
