Is it possible to salvage this brand or are the Young Avengers now unmarketable?

Make a movie about 'em and they'll sell like hotcakes.

Nobody gives a shit about them, so it's easy to retcon and/or ignore the stuff that isn't working.

The only thing that would really be required to make them more marketable is to make people care about the characters which, granted, is a bit tough considering none of the characters are that interesting to start with.

why would they be unmarketable?

They're stuck as the gay avengers team

Nobody cares about them except for Kate and America Chavez.
It's the sad truth that Gilleon's run killed the team.

I like Patriot and Stature

what happened to pat?

In universe, he's quit superheroing and he's living in Arizona with his family.
No one knows why he hasn't even had a cameo since the end of Children Crusade. Gillen said he wanted to use him but couldn't because someone else at Marvel had big plans for him.

Im sick of Kate but I want more of her. Just put her in the background.

Maybe for the best, Kate's story has grown so big, he would end up being an afterthought. If he's gonna come back, let it be as a Captain America character.

Marvel screwed both them and The Runaways up because they wanted to make room for more main Avengers/Spider-Man/Deadpool/EVENT comics, despite both teams being the most promising original characters that Marvel has made since Wolvernie and Punisher. So now we're stuck with the YA having shitty writers and artists and Runaways being completely forgotten about except for Nico and Molly.

Being a Marvelfag is suffering.

You mean the ones that are currently part of the Young Avengers ongoing?
Yeah, everyone hates them and Sup Forums doesn't cum hard all over their shenanigans.

He quit the hero game after Siege. Total punk move.

no one has plans for him.
Tom Brevoort (Marvel Executive Editor and editor in charge of the Avengers family books aka editor most in charge of Patriot) feels like his story is DONE post-Children's Crusade.

It's possible, but it means ignoring the moderate popularity they gained from Gillen's run. He put a bullet in the Young Avengers brand, but he wasn't the only one. Marvel has been slowly dissolving that team since the original book ended.

That's fucked up because they went with the Captain Falcon story to promote diversity but they have an actual black Captain America character just floating in limbo.

Yeah, obviously right now no one wants to use him, but that's what Gillen said a couple of years ago when YA was coming out and he got asked why Patriot wasn't there. No reason to make up a lie if nothing was going to happen.

>Young Avengers ongoing
There is no Young Avengers ongoing. Wiccan and Hulkling are with the New Avengers, Stature and Patriot retired, Kate is being buddycops with Clint, and Speed, Noh Varr, and America are not anywhere currently.

America is in Ultimates, actually.

Stature is in Ant-Man as supporting cast for her father.

Stature is back with a slightly different powerset in Ant-Man as well. Also Iron Lad is... somewhere in time with the other Kangs.

That's the ironic thing about this new 'diversity' angle they've got going on. They've got so many characters that were forgotten or just placed in limbo that can fill this diversity quota. But they choose to fuck-up current characters instead of just bringing back ones who haven't been used in years. The advantage of bringing back old ones is how much of a clean slate they have since a story with them could go almost anywhere due to no prior build-up.

But I guess Marvel doesn't take the time to search through their own wiki or files for old characters.

why do you want more of her if you are sick of her?

>his story is DONE post-Children's Crusade.

seriously? he's a fucking super soldier and he's just hanging out doing nothing like that 's the last word? I'm sure someone would be interested on capturing some one with the SS Serum in the blood that doesn't have the protection cap does.

The characters are much more usable now than they were just after Children's Crusade. You can completely ignore Gillen's run if you don't like it and still their status quo makes sense.
After Children's Crusade the characters were crippled: two unneeded deaths, Wiccan's badly written depression, everyone but Speed wanted to quit superheroing, Patriot got put on a bus to never be seen again... You couldn't ignore this shit.
Right now, any writer could reform the team, or take the characters and put them in a different team (like Ewing did for Wiccan, Hulkling and America), or even make them full fledged Avengers if they felt like it.

>everyone but Speed wanted to quit superheroing
Hulkling and Kate wanted to keep heroing too.

Me too.
It's pretty upsetting that those are the two NO BODY is using now.

No, in CC they both quit. Between CC #9 and the first issue of Gillen's run they started heroing again.

>So the Young Avengers are just you and me?
>Just you.
