I left a suburban school I didn't like working at when this Detroit charter offered me an $8000 raise. They told me their kids were all angels, that they had no discipline problems, that all the parents were wonderful, etc., etc. etc. So I took the job.
We had about a week of meetings where we heard all of this: "We are 98% black and have no discipline problems at all. Just talk to any kid. They are all great." It became really awkward at the meetings that around 60% of the staff was brand new.
Anyway, first fucking day of school we had kids fighting, screaming nigga nigga nigga in the hall, one little nigger kid who punched a 21 year old skinny white girl in the face. Every new teacher kept leaving their rooms to look at the other teachers with that "WTF" look on their faces.
The black principal yelled at us and called all of us racist (I think we had only 2 black teachers out of around 25 staff).
The 2nd week boys tore down all the separators in the bathrooms. Answer? Teachers had to escort all kids to the bathrooms.... this lasted until day 2 of it when some girls got in a fight in the hallway and ripped earrings out. Then all classes had to take a 5 minute bathroom break where 2 teachers would watch 2 classes at the same time, and watch each bathroom.
When we asked the old teachers about what it was like the year before they said they had fights every day, and that the administration just lied to everyone all the time, including the parents.
So you'd have a fight in your room and parents would come in and say "The principal said there was never a fight here and that the problem must be you."
I got fired in December that year because two kids got in a fight, I broke it up, and then 3 kids all started punching me in the face. I shoved two of them out of the room and locked the door (to which one broke the window), and held the other one down. I was fired for "not understanding black boys."

Another day, I almost forgot about this one, some boys stuffed every toilet and sink, then turned all the sinks on. They did this on each floor, and we found the main bathrooms really quick because us teachers had to escort kids there so often.
They never checked the lunchroom bathroom. It flooded the entire lunch area so kids had to eat in the hallways for a week.
