Xanax dependence is unreal. I have only tried the stuff a few times, but every time it felt like I instantly drank a fifth of vodka and remained in a state of blackout drunkenness for 2-3 days. I guess I am sensitive, because I have seen guys take up to 10 xanax bars in a single day just to function, go to class, take exams, etc. It's unreal how much money they spend to maintain their constant high on xanax to stay "normal"

Men used to have a role: provider. They had purpose and the esteem of their families, and those things helped them cope and keep going, or at least keep functioning even if they were miserable.

At my lowest, just to function and get up to work, I would take 4mg of Xanax on waking. Lunch-break xanax 2mg and evening+night 6mg

Basically I was taking 120mg worth of Diazepam (1mg of Xanax = 10mg Diazepam ) for benzos can be equated.

You cannot function many years being constantly on these drugs.

I would say that only safe way to take Xanax, or any other strong benzo, is to take it 1-2 days straight and then absolutely no benzos for the next 3-4 weeks.

The problem is that tolerance to benzos skyrockets very fast, if taken regularly.
More than "being constantly high", people with high tolerance keep taking crazy amounts because their brains got used to the external chemical influx and the natural production of those chemicals is greatly reduced. Also rebound anxiety makes the initial problem worse, so it's difficult to stop once you are taking benzos regularly.

I think you can take benzos about twice a week while keeping tolerance in check. Only if you don't binge or overindulge during stressful times, of course. Very few people can mantain their intake in this range indefinitely.
