>N64 game
So am I renting Perfect Dark again for the 14th time? N64 kind of sucked brah, there were only a small handful of games I actually liked for it even when I was a young kid.
I still played my SNES more than my N64.
Still hurts. Mine became an urgent care. I had to their when I threw my back out at work. The waiting area was where the video game isle was.
>pick out one movie to watch as a family
>pick out one to watch with my dad after mom went to bed
>pick up a take-and-bake pizza from the place next door
>go home and have a wonderful night of flicks and food
>ywn again go watch a movie with your bros then hang out at the arcade
Why did it have to end?
>you will never have to settle with a cucked movie and a cucked game because all the good stuff was already picked and you were left with scraps for a whole weekend
YEAH ID LOVE TO HAVE THAT AGAIN, FUCK HAVING OPTIONS
While I do miss the memories of browsing VHS and SNES/N64 boxes, I basically would rent Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Shining over and over, so I'm not missing much by such stores being gone.
I'll always have the memories.
>ywn sample the abhorrent trash that is the N64 library even though you own the 7 actually good games already
>ywn get primo deals on SNES games as they clear out the inventory to make way for shitty N64 games
Wow, sounds like you were into some real main-stream normie-tier movies. Sucks to suck.
the Terminator pinball was super loud. the Addams Family one too, but it had cool sounds.
>GREEEEEED
When I was 16 I applied to work at my local blockbuster. You had to be at least 18. There were no more blockbusters when I turned 18
Because you can download every movie and game you wanted from the comfort of your own home now?
Kek nostalgia made me forget all about that
It sucked working there brah.
PS1 > N64
That's interesting. No it isn't.
It was probably better than washing dishes for $6 an hour
its still alive near me
>go home and have a wonderful night of flicks and food

If I won the lottery, I would buy a nice cabin out in the mountains, get a good internet connection set up, buy the comfiest couch in the world, hire a live-in chef to make snacks for me to eat myself to death with while I watch kino by the fireplace, snuggled up in blankets.
Is Queensland late 90s USA? We had a plaza that looked just like that.
>Late 90s
More like mid 2000s. People act like blockbuster went defunct a century ago.
>7 good games
Goldeneye
Mario Kart
Smash Bros
Perfect Dark
Mario 64
Zelda
what am I forgetting?
eh, PS1 had some undeniable classics, but the N64 had much more scope for multiplayer.
Couldn't top MGS or Resident Evil 2 and 3, mind.
star fox
Yeah I could. There are still a few mom and pop video stores, granted they only get by by renting porn. But they rent games and movies too. Not that I'd go as I'd just pirate that shit.
Where the fuck do you live? There is a huge arcade in my multiplex.
>"Hey user my mom said you can come over Friday night after school we re gonna go to blockbuster and get pizza"
This. Mine was run by a giant fat lesbian with a god complex. Apparently she single handedly ruined at least 4 stores. Outside of that the free rentals thing was cool.
>always wanted to get PS2 and Xbox games but dad wouldn't let us rent video games
Snowboard Kids
Why do so many of them become gyms, liquor stores or mattress stores?
>"Alright but get the OC for me and a videogame for you... I'll play with you if you watch it with me. I love you"
idk what else should they become?
Block buster was garbage. Stop having nostalgia for a shitty former megacorp.
Does anyone else remember Blockbuster having a distinct smell? Like VHS cleaner or something
Mattress firm actually had a deal with blockbuster to buy out the majority of their stores, so that's why.
And liquor stores are always willing to pop up anywhere.
well I suppose you do need friends to play multi-player
Who else got scared from the covers of horror movies but couldn't help looking at them?
Also getting super hard from the covers of Harold and Kumar
Life movies on. Nothing lasts forever, don't get TOO comfy. Enjoy things while they last.
Compromise is an important part of life. Millennials could learn a thing or two from having to choose something else because their first option wasn't available.
>goes to rent movie/game
>already gone
>second pick
>85% chance it's damaged - and you'll have to pay for it if you bring it up
>10$ per unit per night
>snacks are movie theater price
>5$ late fee per unit if you don't have it back by 6AM sharp next day
>rental limits
Nah, don't miss those days, you 90sfag.
>he is literally me
cheers
i think that's what we all want
Something not shit.
Makes sense.
Don't you have a spinner to be fidgeting?
I have a family video near me. Me and my friend will go there pretty much every Friday and rent a movie and a Xbox360 game.
>5$ late fee per unit if you don't have it back by 6AM sharp next day
thats really the only downside that really bugged me. like having a big ass hangover on a sunday and gotta hurry to get those movies back in time. apart from that I rarely experienced any of the other points you mentioned. mine wasnt a blockbuster tho. just some local owned videostore
>donkey kong racing
>007 golden eye
>pokemon stadium
>resident evil 2
>mortal kombat
>Any zelda
>donkey kong, mario, and starfox 64
>some random game where you played as a tiny robot spider that took over animals and ended with two kangaroos boxing each other (fuck you I liked it)
plus I think i logged like 3 years worth of weekends on just conker's bad fur day and super smash brothers. Pretty sure it was nintendo's best console.
compromise is ok in job. in school. but not in fucking entertainment, people need a bit of time off but cant because they need to learn lessons first lol kys bro.
Turok Rage Wars
>local owned videostore
those were a whole different world. some had the raunchiest porn ever. blockbuster was too corporate for that.
Sounds comfy. I still have family video mugs at my house, nice bit of nostalgia
PS1 was undeniably a better console but the N64 just created moments that had never been had in gaming.
>You will never go there and not have enough money (or time) to rent two games so you hide the other game behind an extremely unpopular game box so the game will be available to checkout next weekend
There's 2 Zeldas familio
not him but I think the overabundance of media and it being available everywhere/everytime is making us appreciate it a lot less
>Millennials could learn a thing or two from having to choose something else because their first option wasn't available.
You mean like the Millennials who grew up with video-rental stores?
Like the ones in this very thread?
Like... you?
You monster! I used to check for that in neighboring games when I was desperate.
>tfw my cinema used to have an awesome arcade with multiple house of the dead games and an Alien one
>now it is mostly just claw machines with minion prizes and the only lightgun game is big buck hunting and one of the guns is missing
yeah mine had a big ass porn section with dildos and shit
born in 1982 here
If you had a N64 over the PSX, then it means you're an underaged faggots
Plus the PSX could be modded to play burnt CDs... what else could you possibly want ?
>ywn allow your senile father to rent the same scifi movie with a quality nude scene over and over so you can fap to it again
>ywn realize years later he was probably renting it for the same reason again
>He didn't have both.
Go be poor somewhere else gramps.
movie?
I'll post it if I can actually remember, but it was something like this.
en.wikipedia.org
The "something", wasn't mainstream at all. I don't think this was it.
WCW vs WWf
>Discovering the anime section
>Renting out consecutive Wrestlemanias
>WWF No Mercy 64, Smash Bros. and Bomberman
Take me back
its weird. i know i can pirate or buy any game or movie i want. But every night i just end up browsing Sup Forums/reddit and playing CSGO.
yikes
Yeah I'm totally fucking broken up about it OP
Boo hoo
>tfw my local video store announced they were closing down last week after 34 years
>you will never go to the video store on a friday night, find that everything you want is taken, and then settle for something you'll watch/play for 10 minutes and put aside until it's due
ftfy, kiddo
Millenial is just a fun term to say for kids you hate. I don't think anyone at this point cares what it actually refers to.
Millennial here, born in '89 I experienced video rental stores and a lot of stuff that's associated with being a non-millennials. Millennial just means the last few fully born in the 20th century because the end of... what is it? The 2nd Millennium?
So yeah a lot of earlier millennials got to experience a lot of that shit before we started puttting everything in the internet?
CDs, VHS before DVD killed it. Payphones, pagers and all that shit.
...
The labels are meaningless and the years are constantly changing, but the general agreement is that Millennials end at 9/11 which also coincides to around the time when the internet became a house hold utility for the majority of people
SOOOOOOOOOO MAAAAAADDDDD
>20 years
>You will never go to a Redbox
>You will never know the experience of going to an FYE to but a CD
Get fucked
I'm '85 and a crochety old man at this point. Pretty sure I'm still technically a millenial.
To this day Blockbuster is convinced I stole Jet Force Gemini. I didn't fucking steal it, I returned it early because it sucked and got something else.
We have one too, just opened up a few years ago and it does really good business which is weird considering the Blockbuster and Movie Gallery we had went under a long time ago.
Bro, 1984 here, fuck millenials, every kid born after 1991 is fucked...
We are the last of Gen Y, Milennials are anyone born from 1991 on.
This is my belief, only a person born after 1991 will argue this point.
You are all a bunch of soft cock pussies!
If you didnt have a phone with a polyphonic ringtone on it when you were 16-18, you are a useless drain on society who will never experience the joys we did...
Like playing in the dirt as a kid for a start you cotton wrapped fuck knuckle..
Gen Y doesn't exist anymore, you old fart. You got rolled into millennials because there was absolutely nothing worthwhile that happened during your age bracket.
Sorry bro
Gen Y is an interchagable for millennials. And being '89 I can't identify culturally with many people born after '94 usually.
>end at 9/11
American arrogance knows no bounds
The generational designations were made for Americans by Americans. Not our fault we completely dominate the world's culture and all the nonAmerican countries use our shit instead of being original.
>go to blockbuster
>'no that has drugs in it'
>'no that has swear words'
>'i already told you you're not watching dbz it has violence, that's three chances, we're just getting my video then be more choosy next time'
>never got videogames
>got smacked in the face for disagreeing about getting some candy on the way out
>whipped bloody for losing the video one time for a day and making them pay for a day's late fee

how is this good again?
That's the difference between potential and actual talent. Also, take this shit to /vr/
even as a europoor I gotta agree. the majority of europeans just like to complain instead of doing sth about it.
ur wrong but the twisted metal games were the best of anything both systems put out
Now that's just a load of hooey, even though they were pretty good. Sorry for using such strong language.
