Actual comikino.

Great art, okay writing

Very enjoyable so far.

pretty much this, interesting so far but a little slow for floppies, probably reads better as a trade

storytime?

Hard to tell with only two issues in. It doesn't seem godawful at least, but Lemire could definitely mess this up before the arc is over.

When is issue 3

It's my favorite ANAD title aside from Vision. Most gorgeous book Marvel is publishing, and the story is going in an interesting direction.

I'm really surprised. The only worthy shit on Marvel right now.

June 1

If i wanted to begin reading Moon Knight, but shied away from art and tropes often seen in comic books prior to 1990, where should I start? Is there a run that starts at the beginning that doesn't look like it was drawn in the 60-70-80ties?
I hope I'm not coming off as picky or spoiled. I'm kinda new to the whole comic book thing.

June 1st can't come any sooner

Start with Ellis's run, it's the first 6 issues of the ongoing that preceded this one. Keep going if you like it, Wood's run is okay too.

>I hope I'm not coming off as picky or spoiled

Well, you are considering most good comics come from that era.

Either way, start with Marvel NOW from 2014. It's a good jumping on point that essentially boils Moon Knight down to his very core elements, and this run is a semi continuation of that.

underage b&

fuck off man, if someone getting in to comics help them
all we will ever have is movie comic fans if you push anyone trying to get started reading away.

That's the attitude that let this board get taken over by SJWs in the first place.

Don't kill my husbando thread.

lurk moar, newfag

Someone storytime or gimme a link.

came here to post this gods i hate my self for starting that
keep up the good work user

on issue 3 i will storytime the first 2

This.
I would storytime but I'm on my phone.

>I didn't start coming to Sup Forums until ~2012
Found the newfriend.

go to desustorage, search "http* moon knight 001".

libgen.io/comics/index.php?s=
All the comics you want are one search away.

so turn everyone away from comics who is interested? what the fuck does that accomplish?

are you seriously getting your feelings hurt by some simple memery?
the kid refuses to look at artwork that wasn't done on Photoshop, he deserves at least small degree of harmless ribbing

It's turning away lazy trend jumping faggots who want to get into a hobby but can't be fucking bothered to do their own research or even actually get into it (i.e not getting into pre-90s comics for utterly shallow reasons despite the fact that most comics began and were at their prime prior to that time).

This is the result of the "Everybody's a winner" millenial generation.

Go to bed grandpa, I'd rather discuss comics with SJWs than a faggot who stereotypes anyone younger than himself as one of those dang "kids these days" who are just awful and destroying the world obviously.

You're eventually going to get used to that artstyle guy. Might as well begin reading those classic stories and getting enjoyment.

Yeah man, those shitty millenials being decent people and providing recommendations. Fuck those guys.

>These fucking newfags

Hey Start with Huston's run with the first trade called the Bottom

If you were a college professor, you would call your students "lazy faggots who can't be bothered to do their own fucking research" instead of actually teaching them anything. Good job. The tenure's a-comin'.

Note how you're not actually refuting my point, because you can't.

Why should we be catering to people who are so lazy and disinterested that they don't want to do any research and outright refuse for totally bullshit reasons to actually indulge a major part of said hobby.

also "discussing comics with SJWs" is an oxymoron. You can't do that, because SJWs don't read comics.

Understandable but taste grows. I started with what was modern comics at the time. And after reading a lot of those comics I wanted to know more and started going further back.
Point people in the right direction, don't point them away.

It's a good thing I'm not a professor who is tasked with specifically educating the uneducated on topics.

This is a hobby. It's not a required field. If you're so fucking stubborn, lazy and unwilling then why the fuck should we help you?

There's nothing wrong with reccing NOW just because it's new. It's a basic introduction to the character and has him at his most basic form, and it's a legitimately good series.

As a long time Moony fan, either start with Marvel NOW or start from the beginning since there's not a huge amount to read. The guy is a fag that's resistant to read pre-90s comics because they're icky, so I'm reccomending him NOW.

Then don't get assblasted and just don't reply. If someone does reply then that was no work for you. Only reason I see to bitch is if there is samefagging asking for the same shit.

>but shied away from art and tropes often seen in comic books prior to 1990
what does this mean? if you avoid books from the 80s you're missing out on some great stuff, Marvel and DC were done with Silver Agey stuff by the mid70s

read Moench Moon Knight nigga

Loving it, I hope Moon Knight gets only quality titles from now on.

That art especially

Firstpostbestpost

NOW is good I'll give you that. But as far as I'm concerned, Huston's run is a great introduction that delves deep into Moon Knight. Ellis was writing standalone issues which are good, but a little light on details.

I am also just sick and tired of people acting like Ellis' run is the only one that matters. The amount of times I've seen people spout that Mr. Knight bullshit is astonishing.

Also, OP is indeed a fag for ignoring pre-90's comics.

The best stuff in the medium came from the 80's after all.

I don't see what's so horrible about people who don't know what they're doing asking people for help. This person asked for recs, got them from some anons, will check them out and if they like it they might then go back to the earlier stories. You might as well be bitching about people who get into comics by watching cartoons, saying "ugh, you lazy faggots need Cartoon Network to spoonfeed you stories and characters instead of actually doing your own research and reading the fucking comics." This thread was completely fine until you fucked it up with your bullshit. Grow up and let people explore comics however they want to.

>I don't see what's so horrible about people who don't know what they're doing asking people for help.

Asking for help whilst also being deliberately ignorant and dismissal of a huge portion of the actual hobby. And I actually did give him advice you fucking dumb cunt.

all the arguing is great but are we ever getting a storytime here?
Thats what we really want spoonfed to us

Comics is way too big to not be ignorant of huge portions of it. You find things you like and you go from there.

>You're eventually going to get used to that artstyle guy. Might as well begin reading those classic stories and getting enjoyment
Probably true
Might be late (was on the way home when I wrote this) but thanks a lot every one.

I'm turning 20 in october.

>80s you're missing out on some great stuff, Marvel and DC were done with Silver Agey stuff by the mid70s
I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me.

>deliberately ignorant and dismissal
I'm sorry if thats how it sounded. I'm trying to get into comics through the newer stuff because I have a hard time taking the silver age stuff seriously.

What don't you storytime it yourself?

because i'm story timing it then i'm not being spoonfed am i?

>You can't do that, because SJWs don't read comics.

But buddy, I thought comics were getting shitty because writers keep pandering to the SJW market!

That's the idea, genius. They're pandering to people who read headlines and spread outrage like wildfire, who don't actually read comics. A vocal minority.

Smallwood is killing it.

Why does Loony get such quality artists.

You'd think being such a no name he'd get roped with shitters like Land.

Who is the arch-enemy of Moon Knight? Sun Warrior?

Word, Huston's run was a great reintroduction after MK had been on the back burner for years.

Solus wizard

Himself

and actually anyone who knows him

Loved this panel so much.

DAYMAN

HE'S A MASTER OF KARATE

AND FRIENDSHIP

FOR EVERYONE

YOU GOTTA PAY THE TROLL TOLL

Is Bendis Moon knight any good?

So who wins in a fight, Moon Knight or Batman?

>people who read headlines and spread outrage like wildfire, who don't actually read comics
So... Sup Forums?

No. Not at all.

Better then the weird collection of one shots the ellis stuff was.

slightly better than the bunn stuff.

the art is 100% better than shavely.

Not really

I still don't know what this means.

me too. and do you have an android? do all our pics get shifted sideways? And why is Sup Forums bought out by apple?
no, you think it would cause he does street level good. But it/'s shit

I've only read MK in Ultimate Spider-Man, I thought the multiple personality thing was cool. Is 616 the same?

Love it. Really well written, great art, and I love the fact they're bringing back Moon Knight's side cast. I love Crowley, Gena, Frenchie, and Marlene. Really underrated as side characters go.

You're a fuckboy with shitty mentalities that you should reevaluate. Better yourself for the world.

Raoul Bushman or Black Specter.

kinda. not really.

For a serious answer, it is debatably either Black Spectre or Bushman.
The latter has more of a personal connection to Marc, while the former is the dark reflection of MK, like how Venom is to Spider-Man

glorious. thnx!

>Is there a run that starts at the beginning

You're confusing me. All runs start at the beginning, hence the words 'start' and 'beginning'.

Big Two Cape Comics are like Sherlock Holmes in that they're slices of a character's history, but self-contained in that the stories told have beginnings, middles, and ends even if the characters don't, per se.

Look at the creative teams when trying to find what is a whole or not, almost always you could read one writer's run without worrying if anything came before or after, regardless of the number on the cover.

For example, i wanted to read some Daredevil, and wanted to read Frank Miller's run. I only fucked with issues where he was on the creative team, and didn't bother with the hundred or so before him, because that wasn't relevant.

>Everybody has to view and enjoy things the EXACT same way I do or they're doing it WRONG.

Not that guy, but are you talking about this one?

The artist has been doing all the heavy-lifting that really should belong to the writer, who's so far been asleep at the wheel. Lemire's giving us an impression of some grand ''pulling the rug out of the readers feet'' story, but shits the bed left and right, panel by panel. The guy should wake the fuck up and stop browsing tvtropes.org already.

Holy crap I started reading this marvel now run. I am so happy I don't pay for this. I can read them in like 2 minutes. The little stories aren't bad but it's too fucking short.

Literally everything I was going to say

Yeah, that's a very good jumping on point. Moon Knight is fundamentally a very odd character in that he's simultaneously 3 origins happening at the same time(Extradimensional Aliens, Egyptian Gods and Crazy Vigilante). Ellis basically said "All those are true, now lets move on and tell some beautiful short stories".

Awesome. Any other moon knight I should read?

...

BRUH thanks
