Get Out is rated higher on Rotten Tomatoes than this

>Get Out is rated higher on Rotten Tomatoes than this
American film criticism is a fucking joke.

>American film criticism is a fucking joke.
No shit.

I did enjoy the hell out of The Handmaiden though. Darkly funny (hanging scene had me in fucking tears), and intriguing as hell. I'm glad I took some user's advice to drain my balls before I saw the movie, shit was hot.

Dillon!

I'm about to watch this movie very soon. Chan-wook is fucking god-tier. Loved Oldboy, loved Thirst. It's ridiculous how good Korean cinema is.

Rotten tomatoes isn't just american faggot and americans are from everywhere.

Anything today in the 80s and 90s is shit since 2012. Kino are in the 20s 60s and 70s

Get Out's rating is pure irony given the message of the film is to castigate champagne socialists and white fetishizers, which is exactly what they did to the film. It's like a crowd of retards cheering the important message of calling them retards.

It seems like American critics will champion anything if it's made by a black person and it's shitting on white people. A black director could film a monologue of him bemoaning white privilege in front of a green screen and it would be called one of the best films of the year.

tbf Handmaiden was fucking terrible.

>muh korean film

Fuck off.

This but unironically. They basically 'elevate' and coddle minority artists to a nauseating degree. And I'm basically talking about niggers, because Park and other based Koreans/Japs and even Chinese directors want to let their work speak for itself.

Watch as Peele fails to do anything after this. They'll still prop up his work, but the praise this film got was ridiculous. It was basically like every other horror film we've seen, it just toyed with social politics and racism as opposed to the usual suspects.

>Get Out's rating is pure irony given the message of the film is to castigate champagne socialists and white fetishizers

Yeah but every champagne socialist/black fetishist thinks it's referring to "other" champagne socialists/black fetishists because [insert why I'm #woke to PoC problems]

Was there a better film than the Handmaiden last year? It was a pretty weak year so I don't think so.

Still better than:
>muh microaggressions, the horror movie

Park chan wok is overrated and loved just because he makes american movies with asian actors

>because Park and other based Koreans/Japs and even Chinese directors want to let their work speak for itself.

the irony

the same way they 'coddle' 'niggers' as you say, any dogshit from Japan/Korea/Iran/Eastern Europe gets a 90% rating just because it's hip and foreign. If Park Chan Wook was indian the west wouldnt give a flying fuck about him or his work.

>every champagne socialist/black fetishist thinks it's referring to "other" champagne socialists/black fetishists

Fuck this is exactly what was bugging me about the response. It's the goddamn "white people suck but I'm on YOUR side" liberal mental illness in a new form.

>It was basically like every other horror film we've seen, it just toyed with social politics and racism as opposed to the usual suspects.

So even you are admitting that it was different lel

>Was there a better film than the Handmaiden last year?
No

Name some more Korean kino
I've seen Breathless, The Chaser, The Wailing too and enjoyed them all

Modern Korean cinema is often glocal, largely because the industry near collapsed in the 00's. So the films appeal to a global audience yet retain inherently Korean elements.

Park is hardly hipster, I'd say he's more of an auteur whose work has resonated with audiences around the world because it feels fresh. And a lot of the "dogshit" Korean films like JSA, I Saw the Devil, Memories of Murder, Thirst and so on are worthy of their praise.

Get Out was another 'black' film, just like 12 Years (Shame & Hunger are masterpieces) that get an extra boost because the media is overwhelmingly liberal. I went into it with an open mind and I thought that it went down easy, but it was just another horror film. A good horror, but not a 'great' horror.

kek. The twist and everything was rather obvious. I enjoyed it, but it felt rather rote

better than mr vengeance or oldboy? or as big a turd as lady vengeance?

It's probably Park's best film yet.

You should check Yeon Sang-ho. He is kinda a "mankind really sucks" director, but he has some kinos.
Check The Fake, King of Pigs orTrain to Busan

Do I have to say this? The RT score is a measure of how undivisively positive a reception it got. Any brilliant and original film like The Handmaiden is going to divide opinion, and thus get a lower percentage, because that's how art works.
