Man of Steel's production title was Autumn Frost. To say that Zack Snyder loved his daughter is a gross understatement. The instinct to love and protect one's children runs through mothers and fathers of virtually all species. And as such the grief and the pain that comes from losing one you love so much can change the way you lead your life and how you feel. You can't just transfer the love you had for your child onto your other family members. Your love towards them is unique.
I'm not a parent so I can't begin to imagine the heartbreak and pain the Snyders are going through right now. All I, and the rest of the mod team, can do is offer our deepest condolences to them for this loss. No parent should have to bury their child. In this time of need, family should absolutely come first. We've been looking forward to a Justice League film for all of our lives but at the end of the day, it's just a movie. Being there for your family in a time of great crisis is so much more important. I want to commend Zack and Deborah for keeping their heads high and trying to push through his work since March. Their strength is as inspiring as it is tragic. That pain can break even the toughest of individuals but they still kept going. Our thoughts are with the Snyders and we wish them all the best.
>>>>>“Here’s the thing, I never planned to make this public,” he says. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth it…I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”

Fuck off back to your safe space
what thew fuck do you gain form shitposting over someone's dead daughter, you freak?
>Superheroes have always been about doing the right thing in the hardest of circumstances. Now Zack Snyder, one of the biggest filmmakers in the genre and the director of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the upcoming Justice League, finds himself in just such a situation.
>Snyder tells The Hollywood Reporter he is stepping away from Justice League, Warner Bros.’ all-star DC Comics superhero mega-movie that is in postproduction, in order to deal with the sudden death of his daughter. Snyder's wife, Deborah Snyder, who is a producer on Justice League, also is taking a break to focus on the healing of their family.
>Stepping in to shepherd the movie through post and the shooting of some additional scenes will be Joss Whedon, the Avengers filmmaker and creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With Whedon's help, the movie is still on track for its Nov. 17 release date.
>Snyder’s daughter Autumn Snyder died by suicide in March at age 20. Her death has been kept private, with only a small inner circle aware of what happened, even as the movie was put on a two-week break for the Snyders to deal with the immediate effects of the tragedy. Zack Snyder says he initially was eager to return to the film, which stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller.
>“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it,” said an emotional Snyder in an interview Monday in his office on the Warner Bros. lot, with Deborah sitting by his side. “The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization … I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”
Cooper Gomez
>The studio is fully behind the move. “What they are going through is unimaginable, and my heart — our hearts — go out to them," says Warner Bros. Pictures president Toby Emmerich.
>One of the first things the studio floated was the possibility of pushing back the release date of the movie, but the Snyders decided against that. Warners also extended Snyder's first-look deal to give him time to work on other planned projects when he returns to work.
>Snyder, after screening a rough cut of Justice League for fellow filmmakers and friends, wanted to add additional scenes, so he brought Whedon on board to write them. But as he prepared to shoot the scenes in England, Snyder realized it was not the time to leave home. “The directing is minimal and it has to adhere to the style and tone and the template that Zack set,” says Emmerich. “We’re not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes. He’s handing the baton to Joss, but the course has really been set by Zack. I still believe that despite this tragedy, we’ll still end up with a great movie.”
>This isn’t the first time that Warner Bros. has had to deal with the unthinkable affecting a high-profile DC movie. In 2008, Heath Ledger passed away after shooting had wrapped for The Dark Knight but prior to the movie being finished and released. The tragedy put the studio and filmmaker Christopher Nolan in a very delicate position of balancing mourning with the demands of releasing a tentpole.
>The internet and comic book movie fans being what they are, Snyder already is anticipating what some DC loyalists may think.
Aiden Foster
>“Here’s the thing, I never planned to make this public,” he says. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take a break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth is … I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”
>The death of Autumn, Zack's daughter from his first marriage, to Denise Snyder (in addition to Autumn, he and Deborah have been raising seven kids and step-kids), has brought a new perspective and a new focus for him. “I want the movie to be amazing, and I’m a fan, but that all pales pretty quickly in comparison," he says. “I know the fans are going to be worried about the movie, but there are seven other kids that need me. In the end, it’s just a movie. It’s a great movie. But it’s just a movie."
>Autumn, who was attending Sarah Lawrence College, loved “to write, to write, to write,” says Deborah. Their daughter had written a sci-fi fantasy novel in the first person. It featured a character who was an outsider and who had trouble fitting in.
Joshua Davis
>Deborah is holding on to the thought that she was the first person her daughter gave the book to read, even now as the story takes on a new meaning under the circumstances. “You’re hearing her voice,” Deborah says, fighting back tears.
>The Snyders would like to some day see that manuscript published, with the proceeds going to a charity. “In the end, she didn’t make it, but her character does, and I think there would be something cathartic for people,” says Zack.
>The thought of his daughter’s writing prompts Zack to recall another memory. Autumn had a quote that she included in everything she wrote. (“Every. Single. Thing,” chuckles Zack.) It’s from author Chuck Palahniuk: “We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”
>“Maybe this helps,” says Zack.
Ryan Morales

Given the circumstances, I'm not sure Whedon *can* fuck it up. Whatever criticisms I might have of the man, he's not an imbecile, and being chosen to see the project through by Zack has got to weigh heavily on him. He'll have to see what Zack's put together and be true to the spirit of it.
Given that there's already a rough cut and they were just shooting some additional footage over the summer, I have faith that we'll get a solid cap to Snyder's unofficial trilogy.

correct
Snyder has eight children. The four eldest are from a marriage to Denise Weber that ended in divorce. Two are from another relationship, with Kirsten Elin, who was his line producer on commercials for a while. Snyder and his current wife adopted two children during the course of making Man of Steel.
How is any of that "burying the fanboys"?

which post, reddit?
Gabriel Lopez
You're wrong. You know what separates this place from reddit? Reddit's about boosting your own self-esteem by appealing to other people with things you may or may not actually believe.
This place is about trolling if you're a brainless retard. It's about revealing yourself and finding out who you really are if you've got half a brain, and the only person who ever knows for sure is the person posting.
I get nothing from this but the absolute assurance that I'm becoming a better, wiser person, the Sup Forums equivalent of an Ascended Master.
4U, Zack.
Henry Kelly
>burying the fanboys
Not him, but I took him to mean the part where Snyder talks about the internet "doing what it does," with the whole false narrative thing. He does pretty effectively bury them with that full statement, though, and he does it in such a way as to render them beyond irrelevant.

The climax goes full Kubrick with a battle taking place in a 4D abstract dreamscape with the two principal combatants attacking each other with memory constructs of their opponents' pain and fear, and the winner goes on to become/achieve oneness with a sentient star.

it can be the single worst thing in someones life. One's kids are more than their own life. By natural order you are supposed to go before them. It's sad. I love how they make no attempt anymore in capeshit to hide the fact that the super hero suits are adding fake muscles. They used to have a flaccid suit to imply the person had the muscles and was filling out the suit. KEK

>I have to give him credit for being willing to step in Hmmmmm maybe. He could've agreed to finish up Justice League under the stipulation that he gets to make a Batgirl film. That's called opportunism.

He'll still be involved, although now everytime he fucks up someone will be ready to remind him of his daughter. Plus, now is the worst time for him because everyone'll be reminding him of it again.
I don't think he'll go away forever, but I think that there's a very strong possibility he'll do a personal project after. Plus, the WB execs really like him, so he has a ton of freedom to choose.
And the entire scene is narrated in an alien language by the subconscious of the two characters themselves and it is represented on screen by colors
DRUMPFFFF haha, amirite, guise

We are locking this thread. We don't particularly love people using someone's personal tragedy to fuel petty useless internet arguments over comic book movies. This is literally the worst part of mourning - other people reminding you of your loss, even when they have the best of intentions. I went through years of this with my dad, where I'd run across some old friend or acquaintance of his who made it a point to offer their condolences and tell me what a wonderful guy my old man was. I'd frequently have to have a personal moment or two at some point in my day after those chance encounters.

I'm reasonably sure we're going to get that scene, and that it's going to be every bit as dark as it should be.
