This thread is to discuss Blue Ear & the surprising untapped potential he has.

dont remember the details, but he's that one superhero that some mom asked marvel to make so that her hearing impaired son could feel like a superhero at the time?

He still seems like more of a DC character to me. Let Morrison write him, I want to see what kind of pseudo-philosophical shit he churns out in contrast to guy created for deaf kids to look up to.

I really don't know why they made a deaf hero when hawkeye already exists

To understand what I mean, here is a link to a Scanned version of the 1 comic I found. Someone just posted it after like 1 or 2 years later from its release. m.imgur.com/a/ZPdDs

He should be Silver Surfer's next companion. He can listen to distress calls across space and time, depending on how he calibrates his blue ear-helping thingy.

Here is the comic that did something pretty cool for him. Comic in general is decent though.

Never heard of him, but he looks like a DC character.

>wi-fi man reporting for duty

"Sapheara" looks like a character from Invincible, "Blue Ear" looks like he's from DC.

Christ, and they ended up with Marvel?

Na my nigga

>Kid is sad about how his blue hearing aid sticks out
>Mom writes Marvel
>Marvel comes up with a superhero with superhearing via his hearing aid, uses it to locate distress

Couldn't they have just written a comic where Clint actually uses his hearing aids instead of doing this?

How long has Hawkeye been deaf for?

So the blue guy has a radio or something built into his ear that lets him know when shit is going down so he can tell an actual superhero where to go.

But what powers does Atom Eve there have?

As part of Marvel's response to the mom, they also sent her comics of Hawkeye from the '80s when he was deaf.

You know what is super fucked up?

Deaf parents who consider "Deaf Culture" to be a thing and refuse to get their kids treatment because that is somehow offensive.

>Senators grandson is sad about how his blue hearing aid sticks out
>Senators daughter writes Marvel
>Marvel comes up with a superhero with superhearing via his hearing aid, uses it to locate distress
fixed that for you

Does blue ear have any abilities beyond being able to say "hey someone is getting raped in an ally a couple of blocks over from here"?

I notice the two disabled superheroes seem to be paired together as a hero duo on this cover.

Are all their villains disabled in some way too?

maybe they'll make a team of PWD superheroes and villains?

What would you even CALL a team who's gimmick was disabled people with superpowers.

The Super-Capable?

Crips. And they all wear blue

Anybody remember Freedom Ring?

I remember there being a Cold Case episode about that.

The X-Men.

That's actually sweet as hell and both of the characters they invented seem completely and unobnoxiously usable.

If you read the comic, He also has a reverse engineered Sonic Emitter that her created based off Klaws design & a reverse switch that breaks down solid sound.

it was hilarious because the Deaf community gave Marvel shit for this. Something about not all of them using cochlear implants or some shit.

Hey now, being gay is not a disability. And he was a cripple too, I know

Though the fact they killed him off in a messed up way and passed off his ring to a non-gay is pretty fucked up.

The X-men aren't disabled, most of them are supermodel hotties that happen to have superpowers on top it.

Being a bitch/asshole is not considered a mental disability.

The deaf community are assholes, they think treatments for their disability is an assault on their unique 'culture'.

>Though the fact they killed him off in a messed up way and passed off his ring to a non-gay is pretty fucked up
Didn't the writer apologize for that, after realizing Marvel had so few gay characters?

Shit, forgot the picture, oh well. Look at this. Also his hearing aid has Vibranium Sheilding, Mini arc reactor, Long Range Sonar, Etc. I mainly like the concept of the weapon he uses, listening for trouble is ok.
How the fuck did he put an arc reactor in there though? Why? To power it?

Writers throwing in extra buzz words to make their concept 'more awesome'

What, are gay people supposed to be immortal in Marvel comics? That sounds really supportive.

He died by being forcefully penetrated like a faggot just so his straight friend could take his power.

>like a faggot

He was impaled by two dozen spikes by an evil Tony Stark from a neighboring universe. If you want to see that as a metaphor for anal sex, be my guest.

>are gay people supposed to be immortal in Marvel comics
No, but it's stupid to simply kill a character off simply to hand his power over to someone else.

That 'somebody else' was a Skrull who had become so enamored with Earth that he actively defended it during the Secret Invasion and was killed by Three-Dee Man who - of course - drew the wrong conclusion when he looked through his disguise.

We have never seen Crusader again, which is kind of a shame.

I mean, that Vibranium thing comes pretty useful later.

If you throw away the cheesyness of the comic so it could play up the pg factor, you do have a decent concept of character that they place here.

He was a Kirkman character so in hindsight the fact that he died a gory shock value death isn't too surprising.

No, but they didn't need to turn him into a pin cushion.

Kirkman is such a hack, Walking Dead and Invincible are both rotting zombies of a comic forever trudging along.

That's fucking brutal.

A terrible death, while defending innocent lives from a particularly nasty villain.

That's as heroic as it gets.

It's better than what they did to Alpha.

Aw shit,
I think we have the third man in the wise monkeys team with Black Bolt and Cyclops.

Alpha was shit as a concept from the very start.

The bullshit shilling of "OMH HE'S BEYOND OMEGA LEVEL, HE IS... ALPHA CLASS!!"
Yeah, when an Alpha level mutant was already a thing... it meant to level of potential BELOW Omega class mutants.

Alpha wasn't a mutant though, so mutant classifications have little to do with him. He is complete shit though.

kek

They were still applying mutant classifications to him, just doing it wrong.

Jesus, that spike to the head killed him there was no need to impale him so many times after.

This, my uncle is deaf. Having seen some of the shit he posts on facebook. Let's just say I didn't think a term so silly like "hearies" could be used in such a derogatory way.

...

It is the nature of people, they will look for any reason to elevate themselves over others or elevate their 'group / tribe' over those of other people.

It can be even stronger when they put pride in a dysfunction, by talking down to healthier people they can in some way dismiss their own failing, pretend they are not rendered inferior and the fault is actually with the people better than them.

>Now!
>Wait until after the guy is brutally murdered so Evil Tony is distracted!

He was a shitty superhero anyway, and a crippled homo.

I wouldn't mind seeing this guy used in some capacity, sound weapons in comics are always pretty cool.
