Tired movie plots

>movie is set in late 1800s and the protagonists have to stop a shadowy organization from starting a global war because said organization wants to sell steampunk weapons to both sides of the conflict.

Fuck off

Once was enough for that plot I agree, but what does it feature in other than LXG and Sherlock Holmes 2?

>Vastly superior aliens invade Earth
>Asspull allows 'humans' (americans) to defeat them

>rag tag group of buddies single handedly defeat evil empire

I only remember the League of Extraordinary Men and Sherlock Holmes. Are there any others?

Honestly it should just been selling weapons, modern ones for their age like Armstrong cannons and shit like that, not ebin sub-machine guns in the 19th century.

>all we have to do is get x to y and it will do the rest

>nerdy guy gets cute girl at the end

>protagonist has no fighting experience
>learns from a teacher in like a few months
>teacher dies by the hands of the enemy
>somehow the protagonist is strong enough to defeat the enemy despite the enemy having years of experience and more power

>superhero movie
>maguffin device will do bad thing if used by evil
>have to stop bad guy from getting it
>eventually he does get it
>big fight

Wild Wild West

is that kappa mickey or some shit like that?
It was too avant garde for its time.

Yeah I hate that one. I can't think of any movies that handled an alien invasion "properly." For TV, maybe Colony approaches it but I stopped watching after Season 1 so idk.

The Three Body Problem series (books) handles it right imo, even with the tremendous asspull at the end of the second book. Although I'm not sure that counts as an asspull because the author sets it up waaay in advance.

>le quirky guy in period movie buys something slightly ahead of its time (like a car is movie is set around 1900 or a cell phone if move is set in 1980s) and if told by his sidekick that whatever it is won't catch on

>A bunch of movie-making faggots making movies about faggots making movies

This
>MCU
>TDKR
>MOS
>SS
Same shit

>yfw Delirium
I thought that shit was going to be fun but holy shit fucking argies and their post-modern humor.

Legit kino show

>WE HAVE TO SAVE DA WORRRLLL

cant we just have minor conflicts with major stakes?

Like Dredd 3D had nothing to do with rescuing the entire city, it was about getting the fuck out of a building just to survive. The world ending is the laziest consequence now that it holds zero weight.

the assassination bureau

>"SUPER DANGEROUS MISSION GOISE!!!"
>Not a single person dies or is even hurt

>budding filmwriter posts plot of his latest film idea on an Uzbeki eel-training forum to test the community's reception
>people bump it

These desu

>villains summon army or monster through a portal above a major city

This might be the worse plotline of all time.

I think it was Skyline where Earth was just BTFO and assimilated.

bump

unless they made a movie where the world actually ends and the last scene is just the earth blowing up. id watch that
