What is the "Dark Souls" of movies?

unironically Minions

>literally dark souls 2
This

Are you more likely to die while watching that movie because it causes suicidal thoughts?

2001 A Space Odyssey, only up until the ending though.

I don't really know if there are any movies that capture the same cryptic storytelling as Dark Souls though.

Fight Club.
>legions of manchildren latch onto it in a misguided attempt to get more out of it than necessary because it's their first piece of media with any sort of depth and style simultaneously
Both are still good but are going to be forever associated with those people.

A film with good action/visual effects that has zero character development, plot, and a completely incoherent story?

Dark Knight Rises: Prepare to Die Edition

Ds isn't mainstream enough for that comparison

>DS isn't mainstream

The Matrix series. Beautiful design, leaves you guessing about stuff but the story becomes more and more convoluted and nonsensical as the series goes on.

Yes it is. The PC release made sure of it and it's been covered everywhere, le dark soulz so hard marketing and shit was everywhere for years and still is. DS1 is widely regarded as one of the most important games released in the last decade regardless of what you think of it
I happen to think it's a great ARPG with good story elements but its success was mostly a fluke as Fromsoft has demonstrated with its later releases (and looking through the cut content, a lot of it was much better off not being released)

DS3 is the highest selling one, and it only sold 3 million. That's not a bad haul at all, but compared to actual mainstream shit like GTA/COD/BF and other pleb tier AAA shit, it's nothing.

Is Dark Souls the Citizen Kane of videogames?

You're retarded if you really think that.

What are you fucking talking about? First results on the jewgle
>As of March 2015, Demon's Souls had sold over 1.7 million copies, while as of May 2016, the Dark Souls games had sold over 13 million copies.[76][77][78] Dark Souls III broke sales records upon release, with the title having the most successful launch day in Bandai Namco's history, having strong first week sales.[79] Dark Souls III also became Bandai Namco's fastest-selling video game ever, selling over three million copies worldwide a month after its international release.[80][78]

The Berserk movie

...

The game didn't pioneer nearly enough to deserve that title though the amount of lazy designers taking features and other elements from the game would make you think it was

So, The Raid?

Sure, and fight club wasn't a billion dollar blockbuster either
