Threads. But I haven't seen Testament... the wikipedia writeup makes it sound good.

...

Whoa, that's pretty raunchy for the time period

What would you have done

Dennis the menace?

>"Get down on the ground"
>Explosion doesn't even blow out the windows

Dropped

wouldn't be safer to be in that chimney?

oh yea Failsafe is a great one.
good choice.
Obviously Dr Strangelove must make an appearance in this thread.

It wouldn't be safe anywhere. You think a few bricks are gonna stop thermonuclear radiation?

Nah, but it isnt at least a 000.01% than just be in the floor?
Checkmate atheist.

They aren't close enough

...

umm sweetie, no.
most fatalities from Hiroshima and Nagasaki came from injuries sustained by the blast wave and the subsequent firestorm

Oh, my bad. Yeah, a chimney will stop both of those, easy.

The day after. This was one of the most wached movies on American television and it singehandedly stopped the cold war

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_After#Reaction

Akira

Got to have some love for The War Game

>Single-handedly stopped the cold war

Yeah, no, it didn't. It might've contributed but it didn't stop it on its own. Especially since the cold war never ended

>umm sweetie, no.

Throttle back, homo

On the Beach remake

>youtube.com/watch?v=wv_OJBBaF48

>last safe bastion is Australia

>doesn't matter since the massive fallout from the nuke strikes is slowly making its way into the southern hemisphere, and will eventually finish the job

TWIIIIIIIILIGHHHHT

>huddle in a big mass in the middle of the floor

A Boy and his Dog
Damnation Alley

That one where revenge of the nerds goes to find his waifu then dies in the le brea tar pits.

Miracle Mile

these are post-apoc and not really what OP is asking for

i got something you can throttle big guy

By Dawn's Early Light is awesome, made for HBO long ago, had Powers Boothe in a lead role, James Earl Jones, Karl Malden, Martin Landau, a lot of great actors in it. Great nuke kino, check it out sometime.

The Sum of All Fears

...

...

This was so disappointing compared to the actual Tom Clancy novel, it could have been so much better.

Only good aspect of the movie was Liev Schreiber as John Clark, was pretty awesome for the short amount of time he was onscreen in that role.

Didn't follow the book well enough, lacking the details that mattered, but that's what happens when Hollywood dumbs down movies for lowest common denominator populations.

do redditors actually even say "kino"?

Threads is the kinoest

its a known fact that tom hates all his adaptations
i think he like maybe one
his commentaries for his movies are good
he calls out all the fuck ups
i kind of like his adaptations though and am not a true fan of his work, ive never read any of his books
im a pleb when it comes to clancey i know, no excuse
im speaking from the perspective of someone just trying to find something good to watch and they arent that bad but i hear you
i dislike it when they diverge from source material too

Lots of good recommendations in this thread but nothing beats Threads. Watch that and you realise that if the nukes ever did drop we're all fucked.

i cant find a torrent so i cant watch it

The original Jack Ryan series is awesome and if you get the chance you should read it sometime (in order):

The Hunt for Red October (1984)
Patriot Games (1987)
The Cardinal of the Kremlin (1988)
Clear and Present Danger (1989)
The Sum of All Fears (1991)
Debt of Honor (1994)
Executive Orders (1996)
The Bear and the Dragon (2000)
Red Rabbit (2002)

and "Red Storm Rising" which was the first Tom Clancy novel written (but had nothing to do with Jack Ryan at all). Everything else that's been produced under Clancy's name is sorta crap aside from the two John Clark novels, Without Remorse and Rainbow Six (which lead to the successful game series of the same name).

The Sum of All Fears - the novel - has an entire chapter called "Three Shakes" which breaks down the nuclear explosion itself into practically nanosecond detail, it's quite fucking awesome and sadly the movie wouldn't touch that shit with a ten foot pole unfortunately.

But if you're interested in nuclear info and technology that chapter alone is a beautiful description of what occurs from the moment of the detonation being triggered to full effect.

Human Highway

Just google it. First link that comes up -

Eat dicks

>*tips trilby*

It's weird how this movie is completely forgotten.
Despite one or two cringey bits, it was a solid 80s kino that had a good reception and a nice bittersweet ending

youtube.com/watch?v=V9qWKgDI7ps

...

fuck, I remember this now
one of the saddest things i've ever watched

why does that look and sound like it was filmed in the mid 70s and not the late 80s?

Empire of the Sun has a cameo

Trinity and Beyond

That documentary that Shatner narrated. Maybe

I hope you're trolling, but it's to avoid the gamma radiation.

dumbass

Radiation burns fuck you and your environment up long-term. These "fatalities" are not an accurate description of the damage done, qt3.141592653589792643387950...etc
