How many Twinks did FOX sacrifice for that ?

Budget was $235 Million

not $179 Million

So who else is betting Angry Birds will beat this out?

As long as it's not my ass...

>not released in America yet.
Really? I'm a dirty beaner and I watched this two weeks ago.

I thought Alice will beat this out.

178 according to IMDB

I thought the movie was great, better than CW and BvS. McAvoy and Fassbender carry the franchise tbqh

235 according to every other source.

>McAvoy and Fassbender carry the franchise tbqh
Add Evan to that.

seems to be updated to 234, you're right

Fassbender is a gold-tier Magneto

Fox literally had a movie leak out in it's entirety before it came out and it still made bank. The X-Men will always sell and if this is a box office disappointment, I can see them working on yet another X spin off. They're not Sony people.

Evans is great I agree, I'd add him as well, but McAvoy/Fassbender are acting on another level
Agreed senpai

No one is expecting it not to make it's money back, it's just going to have a whimpering performance more than likely.

>Fassbender is a gold-tier Magneto
>gold is a non-ferrous metal
well done user

>gold-tier

So, non-magnetic.

I agree.

pathetic takings and you didn't even factor in advertising budget which will require double $179 million for it to break even

now get back to being sodomized by bryan pal

Rotten Tomatoes is now at 47%

When the fuck has that ever stopped Magneto?

I'm talking about your poor choice of words, not actual plot points.

I'd imagine that with Deadpool being as popular as it was, Fox will just go 'eh' and make more X movies. Even if it's not a box office success, I can't see Fox going into panic mode.

True, they obviously don't really give that much of a shit one way or another.

yes, and?

That seems like kind of a low budget for a movie like this and I gotta say the special effects were really good

Deadpool made $700 million

X-men is staying at fox

kids judge whether they like a movie or not based on rotten tomatoes these days.

Tbqh I watched this movie on Wednesday, before it even actually came out.
First time in a while I've seen a movie without looking at the reviews beforehand, definitely affected my opinion of the movie

Good. It's the best X-flick so far.
Nigga's hit his stride.

How much of that budget is going towards professional shills like you?

gold team rules

Where's that frogposter screencap of "user wants to watch Apocalypse?"

It's going to make less than Deadpool, possibly less than DOFP.
It's a shame if they don't get a new director.

But they were garbage.
Quicksilver and Phoenix power were hilariously bad.

The movie will probably make money, but that's the wrong budget, and the studio gets less than half of foreign box office. Also, you have to factor in marketing costs, but this movie had shitty marketing, so hopefully it's not that much.

So you liked it or not

Meh box office for a meh movie.

Checked
I'm a dchomo lad and I enjoyed X-Men most, BvS least

I want to believe that someday there will be a good X-Men movie.

But this is not that day.

Kill yourself famala, DoFP was GOAT

>234 million USD

Why are you lying OP?

You know we can just like search for this shit on the Internet right?

Yeah I thought it was more than decent.
Apocalypse was cool, Storm was hot, Fassbender and MacAvoy were excellent as usual, and Lawrence and Jackman were featured just the right amount.
Jubilee was wasted, Nightcrawler was cool but at the same time really stupid-looking, and Psylocke was fucking terrible. But yeah, all in all a solid movie.

On the shitty camrip, sure. Of course Im not telling you go watch the movie, just wait for the br torrent. Its exactly how Spider-man looks like a ps2 puppet in low res screenshots but looks great on screen.

Frankly I think Apocalypse had better effects than CW. The airport scene once you start analizying it without the SM and Antman hype, it really looks like a tv show.

BvS had much better cinematography, lightning and effects than both anyways. It was on another fucking level.

maybe not, but he's going to be lucky to scrape past $600m on this, and on the $234m+marketing, he's probably going to have to make do with a Deadpool tier budget if he wants to make another movie for FOX

the opening weekends in the major overseas markets so far have been pretty shitty - going by those, he's set to make about $400m all in, which would be a Superman Returns-level disaster - and since none of these movies ever opened in China, this one probably won't either

that leaves the largest unopened market as the US, which means this weekend he has to make over $100m to end on $400m+ domestic. In fact at a gander I'd say it won't break $100m until the middle of next week sometime - Memorial Day weekend last year was shitty for movies - so if we suggest a high of $100m for the first domestic 7-day that's $50m the following week, $25m the week after, $12.5m the week after, $6.25m, and so on. Lucky to break $200m domestic; possibly matched, possibly higher overseas, but as with BvS there's nothing to pull it out of a nosedive now, because it's out everywhere else that could actually make a huge difference, and it didn't do as well as it needed to

Alice will almost certainly beat it, Angry Birds too

last year the top 5 for MDW only included 2 new releases, and none of them hit the #1 spot

Your numbers are off all over the place.

$115 released when prices are higher and it still only did about the same a few years later in more countries than first international release. 3 day weekend expected to be lower than DoFP. Already declining in many countries because the older X-Men actors aren't in it. Plus your budget before advertising is way off.

>every fucking nuke on the planet is launched into space
>it never gets brought up after the radio anounces it
so what the fuck is stopping magneto from literally nuking the fuck out of every country at will when he inevitably tries to start another race war?

I think this move may actually do well since Johnny Depp is in some serious shit right now and I can see Alice taking a hit at the box office.

>Johnny Depp is in some serious shit right now
didn't he and his wife or whatever get in trouble for smuggling in dogs?

over a year ago, he's not in any legal trouble whatsoever

if anything it's playing well for him

Wolverine Origins was never likely to make much more than it did, and it was in line with expectations for the franchise before and after

>smuggling in dogs
What

>Johnny Depp
>Alice "taking a hit"
>taking a hit
Dammit Carlos

Bryan might get bumped to producer and someone else brought in to direct, but I doubt the franchise production will change much. Deadpool made more money than any movie in the history of the studio. Kek. Deadpool. Fox are swimming in coke and hookers right now. X: Apocalypse might be a slight disappoint to them but it's not looking like a BvS or Spider-Man 3 level disaster & it's a self contained story that doesn't break the franchise unlike X3.

>When the fuck has that ever stopped Magneto?
In the movies? X-men 1

They falsified some information on forms when entering Australia, got caught, admitted it, and made a public apology.

Apparently he thinks disease is something that only poor people carry.

>Deadpool made more money than any movie in the history of the studio.

More money than Titanic?

>Fox are swimming in coke and hookers right now.

Yeah, that's not how making money works. Deadpool's profits paying off the losses from other movies doesn't leave the studio in profit, it leaves them eating shit. This is a film that has a break-even around $600m, and it's not looking like it's going to make that. For a big tentpole release, that's a disaster. It means that all the bonuses people were looking forward to after Deadpool are going to evaporate as that money is used to shore up the rest of the operation, and it puts a lot of extra pressure on Ice Age and Independence Day to not suck.

That and the fact that he allegedly hit her.
...Fuck that was on accident I swear.

No body count a fucking ad budget because it is easy to get it even, user.

Quit sad, right?

>better than Civil War
this one had some surprisingly enjoyable parts but overall it's nowhere close

The reason it's usually left out is because ad spending varies wildly between different weeks according to who wants to advertise what. 1500 spots on 40 channels might cost you $5m on a quiet week, but closer to 10 the following week - it genuinely depends what you're bidding against, there is no fixed price option, though your budget is probably fixed unless you're really hot shit.

In fact it's probably another $80m here, which is not at all easy to "get it even", user.

Why the hell is this movie getting so many bad reviews?

I just don't get it, the movie was an 8/10

>inb4 disney conspiracy

X-Men made 8 million on Thursday. Alice only did 1 million. X-Men will win the weekend, but not the war.

Both are money makers, but they'll probably kill each other by sharing the box office the same way 22 Jump Street and How to Train your dragon 2 had to.

Anyone claiming that any of these capeshit movies are going to tank are in full blown denial. They sell off their names alone. The movies surpass their budgets by the time the verdict is in how good the movie actually is. Also a lot people ignore reviews out of fear for getting spoilers. Fuck someone who cares about reviews won't even get turned off by abysmal reviews when it's capeshit, they still fork over the cash. Making capeshit is like printing money.

He dindu nothin, he learned his lesson

>they'll probably kill each other by sharing the box office the same way 22 Jump Street and How to Train your dragon 2 had to.
The Jump Street movies were pretty damn good

Fuck that, how about Magnetos random motivations.
>settles down with human wife and daughter
>both are slaughtered
>screams to the heavens like he's fucking Wolverine
>fuck humanity. I'm gonna build statues with Apocalypse"
>Apocalypse is a dick
>"fuck Apocalypse. I'm gonna murder his ass."
>chilling with Charles and smiling
>"we enemies, but we cool now"
>Completely over the death of his wife and child after a few days like it was nothing.
Fuck that shitty character writing.

Who said anything about quality? I'm referring to how both movies made nearly the exact same amount of money for weeks that they never became the hits the box office hit they should have been.

I know no one brought up quality, but I was trying to spark discussion on them. I'm sorry

Said no one on earth 616 ever.

Fassbender may carry the franchise but even then, he can't carry the plot holes and Jlaw's performance to anything greater than a "pretty good". 6.5/10 movie, dont regret seeing it.

Beginning to think everyone on Sup Forums is just a contrarian, the movie really wasn't very good

>$115 million opening
>$234 budget
Good or bad?

Sorry m8, I really, genuinely enjoyed it.

Wasn't good? It blows major balls in comparison to Days of Future Past. It feels nothing like a Bryan Singer X-Men movie. This script may as well just have been handed over to Brett Ratner.

That's an assumption based on them having highly similar audiences (ie, people who want to go out on Thursday for previews) and releasing for previews in the same number of theaters. I honestly don't know whether they did or didn't, and I won't until next week.

Nobody's expecting DoFP numbers from this - it's coming in low overseas already - and it might well only make half what the previous movie made, which would be disastrous. But it's a weird weekend because of the holiday and nothing really does well on it.

Alice is also not expected to do as well as its predecessor, but the crucial difference there is that 50% of a billion is $500m, while 50% of $750m is $375m - what seems like a lesser fall is in fact the greater problem. Currently, the opening weekends overseas indicate a 50% fall for X-Men over the last gross - unadjusted and consistent across the major territories. If Alice wins out as #1 this weekend domestically, it won't necessarily have to do huge business, and internationally it's likely to make a lot of Depp Dollars in China, where he's huge apparently.

The interesting thing about the two is that because teenage and preteen girls idolize Jennifer Lawrence, despite the differences the movies are direct competitors for that audience, and it will be their preferences that decide who comes out on top.

Notably X-Men's Friday is projected to be just $20m, with another $8m from Thursday and the weekend as a whole on $78m, which is FOX's own projection for the whole four days (Fri-Mon, counting previews in Friday's take). This is possibly an optimistic assessment since last year's highest was way lower; it's likely the weekend will be owned by movies which are already out and have better word of mouth.

...

It hurts that critics seem to hold sway on public opinion, cause they can trash really great movies just because they didn't like it

I unironically enjoyed Paul Blart 2

People who get paid to criticize films aren't going to enjoy anything unless what they just watched was more groundbreaking than Inception

Well theres a movie critic that comes on the radio every Friday where I live and he said it was a bad movie because there's no fighting or action until the very end.

So you definitely have a point, they have terrible people trying to be "objective"

While Mystique, Magneto, Beast and Charles were still good I don't want them to be the focus anymore. This is the movie where I am done caring about those guys now.

I really want more Cyclops, Jean, Storm and Nightcrawler.

And no more Magneto unless you bring up some crazy shit like Asteroid M.

People are just getting tired of the movies and want Marvel to fix it in their eyes.

>What is symbolic?
Apocalypse disarms the entire planet to make sure Human don't attack and shooting all the nuclear missiles into space is a way to do it, is this that hard to understand?

It was good, almost as good asCW, but a totally different kind of movie.

>mfw these scenes

>now get back to being sodomized by bryan pal

But Sup Forums is 18+ only

>tfw Supes is your fav but all the other movies better

>not sure if act of war or peace

My favourite line in the movie

>BvS had much better cinematography
BvS cinematography was film school-tier, and like MoS, the CGI looked like a fucking videogame.
The entire Doomsday fight was absolutely horrible and disgusting.

but whole Civil War much better than this movie's trashy second act

>yfw JEEEEEEEEAAAAAN was said in the movie

I honestly am never going to watch the movie because Singer is a fucking pedophile and I can't just look the other way on that kind of shit in the world anymore

Becoming Fox's Transformers

But you could in the past?

Also seems to enjoy Twinks not boys.

What were the plot holes?

>Leave twinkino to me.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible, ether. I give it a 6.5/10

It's bothered me a lot more than it used to after I looked into the full extent of the recent exposure of Jeffery Epstein and his organized pedophila operation. Bryan Singer is the same caliber of person as Epstein and Jimmy Savile. I won't be able to watch a Bryan Singer movie without thinking about how it was funded and created by child abusers ever again

>it's an older meme sir, but it doesn't check out

That was just lighting in the still.

So what's next? Phoenix Storyline possibly involving Mr. Sinister?

Don't watch any Hollywood movie then.

>While Mystique, Magneto, Beast and Charles were still good I don't want them to be the focus anymore. This is the movie where I am done caring about those guys now.
>
>I really want more Cyclops, Jean, Storm and Nightcrawler.

Sounds like the film did it's job.

I've heard rumours they're going into space. If they have Shi'ar I will be there day 1 again

Personally I didn't mind Apocalypse, he was easier to accept once I realized he was a combination of Apocalypse and Shadow King.
